From day one, every member of staff that I have come into contact with have always been very welcoming and helpful. The team of staff on the Primrose floor have been extremely helpful and patient with my numerous questions. I feel happy and confident that when I leave my brother I will be contacted should they have any concerns which is very reassuring.
My brother moved into Woodland Grove, as his previous home closed down, this was definitely an excellent choice. The care and support my brother receives is first class, he has settled in extremely well in a very short time. He seems a lot happier in himself and very comfortable in his new surroundings.
I would highly recommend Woodland Grove.
Thank you for your review and positive feedback on his placement with us. We will ensure the staff receive your thanks.
Another month, another great month. Month following month and they're all great from cooks, cleaners, maintenance guys to carers and management - all fantastic people. Could not ask for more. After I visit I come home happy in the knowledge that my wife is in a great place, with great people.
Thank you for your lovely review, much appreciated and so rewarding for all staff.
From the day my family and I first visited the site, to the day Mum moved in and every day since, they have exceeded everything I thought a care home could be, by far. I'm usually quite reserved with these kinds of surveys, but it would be a disservice not to give them full marks across the board.
Not only do I thank them for caring for my mum, and giving her and the other residents a real home, amazing food and a calendar full of activities and events, but for what they've done for my dad and all my family as well.
Thank you for your very kind and honest review. We will ensure all staff looking after your mother receive your thanks.
There are a number of things the home do well, and their infection control during the pandemic seems to have been very good - there were cases, but not large numbers, and the management kept families informed of the situation and accompanying restrictions throughout.
The lifestyle team, who are responsible for activities (of which there was a variety), were excellent throughout my dad's stay, including adapting and carrying on through the pandemic despite social restrictions.
The best care of all came during his last weeks and days. The home implements the Gold Standard Framework for end of life care planning which really improved liaison with GPs and the family. We cannot thank the team enough for their kind and personalised care, delivered with great compassion. Hugely appreciated.
Our thoughts remain with all your family who will be hugely missed by the home. Thank you for taking the time to leave a very heartfelt review.
We made the right choice selecting Woodland Grove and I would happily recommend for residential care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Your mum has settled really well and is a very welcome member of our family.
The care my mother, who suffers from vascular dementia, received during the time she was at Woodland Grove was excellent. Woodland Grove is full of light and laughter and the staff have the best interests of the residents at their heart.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your comments will be shared with the Snowdrop living area.
I would not be happy for my mother to be in any other care home. Snowdrop ward is wonderful, together with the staff. We researched care homes over 2 years and used this one as our benchmark. The diversity of staff is so important for her where she has a mixture of carers. Her hair is plaited and washed regularly. We love that she has this care. The carers are absolute angels who really do care for her. She is so happy there where she is allowed to roam Snowdrop ward, talk to other residents and eat with them. She does not feel isolated in any way. The staff are amazing. I just wish they had more staff to deal with my mother's frustration when she refuses personal care as it seems that only a few can assist her needs. If they could sort the bath out, that would be grand as my Mother fears the shower. My mother loves Jim Reeves music and I do wish they played the CD that I bought there. She would love to sing along to it and it calms her down. This would help assist with her personal care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We will ensure this is communicated to Snowdrop.
My 95-year-old mother who sadly passed away last weekend had been deteriorating over the course of a month following illness, I have always considered the level of care witnessed to be excellent and the last weeks of Mum's life exceptional not only catering for Mum's every physical and emotional need but that of the family who visited. I further had the ability to track the care through the online relative's gateway which I used for daily updates, additionally, I received telephone calls whenever a change occurred in Mum's health.
I really can't think of anything else that the Snowdrop team could have done for Mum or the family in the difficult and delicate end of life stages.
I would also like to recognise the other staff members of Woodlands Grove who all contribute to the high standards excepted and delivered. Thank you, Woodland Grove.
Thank you for your very kind feedback. We will ensure Snowdrop receive your very sincere comments. Caring for Mum was a pleasure.
Best move I ever made was to get my aunt here. The staff are welcoming and extremely helpful, they listened to my concerns and have been amazing. My aunt loves it here and I’ve heard nothing negative from her which is a joy to my ears! Woodland Grove, you are amazing.
Thank you for your review, she is a pleasure to have in our Bluebell family.
My experience with Woodland Grove Care Home, Loughton, has not been good. To obtain a visiting slot has been hard work, no coordination, no compassion, no empathy, obstructive and unhelpful. The team, in general, are not considerate. A one, to one and a half hour journey to and from Wickford to Loughton to then allow me half an hour with my wife of fifty-four years. I attempted to deliver an envelope containing my wife's medical history only to be told they do not accept mail by hand. How unhelpful is that? This occurred on Saturday afternoon on 3.7.21. In my opinion the staff require retraining.
Unfortunately due to restrictions beyond our control you have experienced visiting restraints. Communication is being maintained via other leads such as PCS and Skype/Facetime. We appreciate these are difficult situations but will endeavour to continue to work with all our families whilst restrictions to reduced visiting remain in place.
I have been to visit my Grandmother at the care home on a number of occasions now with my two year old daughter. Although it has been slightly more difficult during these times as we have had to visit her in the visiting room which has a screen between us and a speaker system. This makes it a little tricky for grandma to hear sometimes but generally, it is fine and great that we are still able to see her. The care home is following all of the government guidelines to ensure they keep everyone safe which is the main priority. My daughter enjoys being able to see her reflection on the screen and run around the room. The staff are always extremely friendly and kind and I feel my grandma is extremely well looked after. She has settled in well and now seems comfortable with the routine and other residents and staff. I feel the care home is a really welcoming and kind place that looks after my grandma with the utmost care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's lovely to be able to welcome all generations of our families.
My Dad is 95 and required nursing care after a second hospital stay. Whilst he didn’t initially like the idea of going to a Residential Nursing Home, due to his condition, we were left no choice and looked at local places. We chose Woodland Grove as the most suitable option, where he has his own bathroom, TV and phone in his room, so we can regularly call him, and he even calls us. The discharge from hospital was delayed on the day and he didn’t get there till later on a Friday evening, the staff though were helpful, sympathetic and very welcoming to put him at ease, and I was able to accompany him to his room and settle him in. He has been there 10 weeks now and always comments how friendly and caring the staff are to him and has even started to enjoy the events they regularly organise. He is well looked after at Woodland Grove and all the staff are really good with him. As a family, we are more than happy that we can relax, in the knowledge he is in really safe hands.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the Home. We are delighted to have him with us and I will communicate all your positive feedback back to the staff.
My mother-in-law came to Woodlands for urgent nursing care, due to end of life cancer. From the start, everything was handled with such care and support. She had her own room with a bathroom and 24-hour care. All the staff were amazing with her and so kind and caring. It was a relief to the family for her to be in such a lovely environment, where she was happy and everyone made a fuss of her and took the time to go in regularly for chats and check her well being. All the staff were fantastic and this is why we would highly recommend Woodlands. Extremely professional, with a personal, kind approach.
It was a pleasure to support you all through a difficult time. Thank you for your review which I will share with all staff.
The home has divided the garden into three separate parts so the residents on each floor can use their own part during the current pandemic to keep them safe but ensure they can enjoy the sunshine in summer, and they built a summerhouse to facilitate safe visits either side of a perspex screen.
It was wonderful to bring a couple together for the festive period. Your thanks will be passed to all staff.
Last summer was very distressing for my parents. My mother has dementia and my father, who was her carer, was taken into hospital with pneumonia. We, therefore, needed to find respite care for her in the middle of a pandemic and possibly a room for my father, when he came out of the hospital. Following the suggestion of a friend I approached Woodland Grove and was very impressed with the friendly and reassuring attitude of the Client Relations Manager. Mum was admitted as soon as she had a negative COVID test result. Sadly, my father never joined her as he passed away a few days later. Mum coped very well with this tragedy and settled into the Woodland family quickly thanks to the friendliness and sensitivity of the staff. We have been able to visit her in the summerhouse and it’s been a relief to see her looking so well and having such a good rapport with the staff. We are very grateful to everyone at Woodland for helping us at a very difficult time.
Thank you for your review. I will ensure feedback is passed to all staff.
Respite care seemed a good idea to help her convalesce. Thanks to the staff at Woodland Grove, she came back to a new woman, her old spritely self, and is now able to go back to live in her own home. I must say at 99 years of age, I was surprised to see such a change. All credit to all the staff at Woodland Grove. Due to Covid, we were unable to view beforehand, but the Customer Relations Manager was constantly in contact with me and I could not have felt more reassured. So much effort was made to look after Mum, she has nothing but praise for her time there, especially her care. I would not hesitate to recommend Woodland Grove, as a family, we all got some quality time and rest during this very painful year of 2020.
Thank you for your very positive review. It was a pleasure to have Mum with us.
Woodland Grove is an excellent run care home. The staff are amazing and "totally get" mum. She has not been happier since she moved in 18 months ago. The handling of the pandemic has been faultless. The summer house was a brilliant initiative to allow safe visits. 5-star to the staff and facilities provided.
Thank you for taking the time to review, your comments are much appreciated.
Woodland Grove was recommended to me by the wife of a resident with Dementia. She spoke very highly of the care her husband received, in particular, during his last hours. My husband has Dementia and has been at Woodland Grove now for one year. He settled very quickly and I cannot praise the care and concern the staff have shown him. He seems to be very happy. I commend Oakland Care for the way they have provided a safe environment for residents and staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thank you for your positive comments, we have worked hard to keep the environment safe.
My father had been a respite resident at Woodland Grove nursing home for the last two years. He had progressive dementia. The home was always very welcoming and very accommodating to his changing needs. Unfortunately, my father's last visit was for two weeks of palliative care following a stint in hospital. I am very pleased and grateful for the wonderful and dignified care he received. The staff were also very friendly and supportive of my needs at what was a very difficult time.
Thank you for taking the time to review, he remains in our thoughts.
Our Mum has thrived since her arrival at Woodlands Grove, after being in hospital for several months. She has settled in, adjusted and is happy. She sings the praises of her carers who have been amazing. She has put on weight and is in good health. She recognises that life is better now.
Thank you for your very positive review, we will ensure her carers receive feedback.

Meet the Team (4)

I am a qualified Biomedical Scientist and specialised in Blood Transfusion. I worked for the NHS before I decided to join the Health and Social Care sector in 2012. My first role was at a small residential care setting for the elderly. I joined as a Deputy Manager and progressed to a Registered Manager role. Since then, I have been in various management roles within the sector.
I joined Oakland Care in 2020 as a Unit Manager. I then progressed to the Head of Memory and Residential Care Role before moving into the Deputy Manager Role and now General Manager. I have a passion for providing exceptional care and developing a team that goes above and beyond in the care they provide.

I have an academic background in Literature and Journalism. However, driven by the desire to be part of a meaningful change, in 2019, I decided to transition into the Social and Healthcare sector. This is when I joined Oakland Care as a Healthcare Assistant, and I have since advanced through various roles, progressively working my way up to my current position as Deputy Manager. My journey has given me a deep understanding of both the personal and professional aspects of care. As a Deputy Manager, I aim to ensure that our residents receive exceptional care and that my team is led with inspiration, compassion, and integrity. I recently earned a qualification in therapeutic counselling and am interested in all things philosophy and psychology.

I have supported Care Homes for over 9 years and previously worked in Leisure and HR. My role is to effectively manage the occupancy levels of both Lambwood Heights and Woodland Grove care homes and build positive relationships with residents, families and external contacts in the community.
I work closely with the marketing department and our lifestyles teams to ensure our services are promoted to reflect the excellent care and support we provide. The residents are our extended family who we love to nurture and share daily life with whilst keeping them safe and well. I’m always delighted to meet new families and support their journey.

Before starting at Woodland Grove, my previous role was event coordinator in a museum and I have always worked in a creative industry. I helped to create big events such as private view and private parties.
I have a passion for creating creative and inclusive opportunities for diverse groups and making them explore different art and crafts.I really enjoy also sports activities like keep fit and name the tune where we explore different music and create a great atmosphere.
