The communication between family members, managment and staff is very good. The activities arranged for the residents are well thought out, are on a regular basis and are all inclusive. As her family, we really appriciate and look forward to the news letters. The meals are nutritional with plenty of refreshments and occassional treats.

My sister was treated with loving care throughout her stay of 2 and a half years. The staff built a good relationship with her and nothing was too much trouble.
The room was adequate but needed a refresh and was often used as a store room.
On the off occasion the bedside table was grubby.
Food was generally good, but repetitive.

Sally was local authority funded.

The staff were very welcoming and caring about their residence and visitors. Sometimes their meals needed to be vaired ie why put mash with sheperds pie, or semolina or rice pudding every other day - espeically as this is highlight of their day. Staff in all areas were very welcomh and did their jobs well, nursing, laundry and cleaners.

Thank you for looking after our loved one, her care was paid for by the local authority.

My experience this week was fantastic. For the first time my mother slept soundly and me and my mother can bond now and I believe forever in the mighty name of Jesus! God can only be the reason for this. I thank all the staff of Puddingstone Grange, you are all indeed fantastic. My mother even said we need to give the home something for the outing yesterday.

Since my mother became a resident in June 2024 the staff have really got to know her and thanks to them she seems very happy, settled and well looked after. The calm, professional way the staff look after everyone is very reassuring and are always available to answer any questions and willing with anything to help.

We visited for mums 103rd birthday and were hugely touched and appreciative of the effort the team had gone to make her day special. Balloon decorations, banners and special photos displayed. Mum was animated and happier than we have seen her in some while. The care shown by the team is evident. Thank you.

I would highly recommend this home - very caring staff.
Not sure if it's value for money as it's authority-funded.

The room is slightly shabby and needs a repaint and shouldn't be used as a storage facility i.e. someone else's wheelchair, walking frame and pads etc.

Visited on Christmas morning. Mother was fast asleep and refusing to wake despite our presence. The staff on duty were very kind and caring trying to coax her awake and prepare her for our visit. Such care and attention was good to see and allowed us time to spend festive time with Mother.

The staff at Puddingstone Grange never cease to amaze me - they well and truly go above and beyond, going to so much effort to ensure that all their residents are well looked after at all times. Take today for example. It was Mum's 80th birthday. The staff had put up balloons and banners, given her birthday cards and presents, and arranged a party for her with lots of party food and cakes. They always make a huge effort to celebrate resident's birthdays, and today was no exception. We are so lucky to have found this gem of a care home for Mum - it's so hard when you have to make the decision to move a loved one into care, but knowing they are treated like family by all the staff makes it so much easier.

Really nice Care Home. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Most of all, extremely kind and considerate to my sister and her fellow residents. Have shared several meals with them and they are very tasty. Really kind, helpful and approachable manager, as are the rest of the staff.

Would strongly recommend.

Overall Experience
My brother resided in this home for only 3 weeks. Within that time, he got a pressure sore. When he was admitted into the hospital, the pressure sore was un-gradable. He remained in hospital for 4 months on intravenous antibiotics. He still has the pressure, which is stage 4, still very serious. His care needs increased and is now in a lovely nursing home.
There was an investigation, but apparently, it was down to the district nurses. I believe the care home was responsible as they were the prime carers. Surely, when they did my brother's personal care, then they would have noticed how bad the pressure sore actually was. That is if he received personal care as he often looked unkempt as did a few of the residents.

If you are looking for a care home for your loved one, please avoid this home. There is no care here, only negligence. I wished I had taken more notice of previous reviews and avoided putting my poor brother here.

Reply from Donna Bailey, Regional Support Manager at Puddingstone Grange

We appreciate your feedback. However, we must respectfully disagree with certain comments regarding the level of care provided to the resident and the events in question. Puddingstone Grange noted a pre-existing pressure sore when the resident was admitted to the home. A referral and photograph...

This is a home that cares for residents with dementia. It has a dementia nursing unit. My mother has been a resident for 3 years. My experience is totally positive. The home has a very good management team who respond positively and actively to any issues or suggestions. Staff are keen to engage with relatives, I am always included and kept informed by phone of any changes with Mum or her care. Despite her late stage dementia Mum is content here. Her needs are well met with kindness and good humour. I am so pleased I chose Puddingstone Grange for Mum. Thank you to all the staff. You are doing a great job. Keep it up.
