We have found this an excellent care home, which though expensive, is good value for money. The staff are good and always friendly and seem well trained. Most are local and nearly all are regularly employed staff not agency, only sometimes do we see an agency worker. At our last care home, most staff
were agency, often with poor English while the management 'hid' in their offices - this is not the case at Wiltshire Heights. My father's mood improved considerably after moving in and he is very happy there. The rooms are large, the corridors wide, the whole place has the feel of a luxury hotel. The activities programme is large and varied, my father has always been too shy to socialise much with other people and has come to enjoy many of the events, entertainments or trips out.
We fully recommend this care/nursing home.

My mother was a resident in Wiltshire Heights from August to December 2016 having moved her from another care home. The staff at Wiltshire Heights are excellent. They are friendly, professional and treat the residents with care and dignity. The manager knows her staff really well and runs the home efficiently
and compassionately. When my mother passed away at the home in December we could not have received more kindness, better end of life care and support. It was excellent.
Reply from Sharon Adams, Home Manager at Wiltshire Heights Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience of Wiltshire Heights and such a personal one at that. I'm very proud of the team and the ease with which they look after our residents and I will ensure your kind words are passed on to them. Very best wishes, Sharon.

The whole team are thoughtful and caring and provide excellent care.
Mum has very comfortable room. I am impressed by the quality of all aspects of the home particularly the social activities team and the very attractive dining room. The menus are well thought out and tempting for poor appetites. The
whole ethos of the home is for residents to see it as their "own home".

I am very happy with the level of care that my mother receives and the friendly reception I always receive when visiting. My mother has said that she is looked after very well which is high praise from her. She does complain about the timing of when she is given her medication, the time it takes for
the bell to be responded to and about the food. However, I have not any concrete evidence that supports this and admit my mother does like to have something to complain about.

My daughter (a local physiotherapist) and I moved my wife from another local home after 4 years, as the standard had slipped considerably. Despite many forebodings, the move has been totally successful despite her Parkinson's having progressed significantly over the last few months. The attitude and
care of all the staff have been excellent and they have really got a grip of her associated problems and we both feel confident at all times. The manager has turned around a newish home which initially had a poor reputation and in conjunction with an excellent team she has gathered around her, has turned Wiltshire Heights into a first class place.

My father has been in Wiltshire Heights Care Home for 2 ½ years with Alzheimers his condition has increased each month with varying issues. The staff are very caring and supportive to my father. He is safe and contented in the home. I am very pleased with the care my father receives it's such a relief
not to have to worry. During the last month dads, condition changed further and management were involved as some changes were needed. This was handled so well with speed and dignity.

I have recently moved my wife to this loving and caring home. Every member of staff who I have met gives 100% of their time to their allotted duties, (most impressed.) I am not at the stage of needing their care. BUT . I would like to go on the waiting list if I needed it.

- Since the new home manager was appointed earlier this year, the home has been transformed.
- Care staff of a high standard, including activity ladies, and all other staff.
- Good, relaxed atmosphere amongst staff and residents.
- Right ratio of carers to residents and very rarely bank/agency staff.
-
Food of a high standard, although rather a lot of cream.
- Only downfall is the mini bus allocated to Wiltshire Heights/ Cheltenham. A suitable heavy good driver has still not been found. Local trips would make such a difference to the residents, especially over the summer.

I would like to thank the house manager for her kind and compassionate management of the home. Her team are a credit to her. The staff go out of their way to help. The nurses were so kind to my mother and made her comfortable. The chef took her menu to her and continually made sure she had the meal
she would enjoy. Sadly, my mother has just passed away. But I send heartfelt thanks to Wiltshire Heights for making her end of life very comfortable.

My mother lived in Wiltshire Heights for about 20 months. She felt more at home there, than any other place. The staff didn't just treat her as a resident, they made the effort to really get to know her and connect with her; they played her favourite games, ran her bath to her preferred temperature,
looked after all her medical requirements and best of all, they would have a laugh with her. When she died, they cared for her as though she was one of their own personal relatives. It was more than care. They treated her with love and professionalism.

Having reached a stage where my adopted mother could not longer cope with living in her own home as a family we decided she needed full time assistance but not care. Having looked at several other "homes" Wiltshire Heights appeared to be the the ideal solution. Although still fiercely independent it
was with great hesitation coupled with an element of reluctance she agreed to come here for a 2 week holiday, after just over one week she felt so safe and cared for that she made the decisions herself to make this her new home. A great relief for us as a family and so good to see her happy living on the residential floor which beautifully furnished with her every need catered for, all round a satisfactory end of a difficult situation.
Reply from Sharon Adams, Home Manager at Wiltshire Heights Care HomeIt's not all that unusual to find some people feel this way but they usually settle in to their new environment very quickly, as Mum has. I'm sure this scenario resonates with many others in similar circumstances so thank you for sharing your own personal experience so frankly. Warmest regards, Sharon

I called in to see this care home not long after it opened. I was made welcome and shown around.

When I had a client in need of respite I took her to see Wiltshire Heights. She loved it and stayed very happily for a couple of months.

I have always been welcomed by the staff, the residents have

always been clean and happy. The food is excellent.

Will certainly use Wiltshire Heights for clients in the future.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.905)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.905) out of 10 for Wiltshire Heights Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.905 for Wiltshire Heights Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (477 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 524 Ratings = 4.905
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wiltshire Heights Care Home is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Charlie Osgood

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

Hello, my name is Charlie Osgood, and I am the Home Manager here at Wiltshire Heights.

I started my career in care in 1992, working nights as a carer in a nursing home. I loved the job, and it prompted me to undertake my nurse training in London and return to the same nursing home in 2000 in the position of home manager. I then managed this home for three years.

In the 20 years that followed, I have managed two other nursing homes, worked as a training and development manager and also been a regional manager for a small care provider consisting of five care homes.

I am passionate about care and the need to build positive relationships and work in partnership with our residents, their loved ones, our team, local professionals and advocates to achieve the best possible care and outcomes for individuals living in our home, and I am particularly excited about the opportunity to manage a home as impressive as Wiltshire Heights.

Hello, my name is Jas, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Wiltshire Heights.

I have experience working in various customer service roles, from group reservations and event management to regional sales management. I loved working in events and organising weddings, corporate conferences and seasonal parties. I have also worked for the NHS in various hospitals as a clinical coordinator.

I came into the care sector hoping to use my experience to support our residents in living a well-rounded life. I am able to use my experience in events to plan special occasions for everybody in our home to enjoy, so not only do our residents receive excellent care, but they also have a great time socially as part of the Wiltshire Heights community.

I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this fantastic home.

Hello, my name is Sally Bullock, and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Wiltshire Heights.

I originally joined Wiltshire Heights as a night carer and eventually became head housekeeper. I loved both roles, however, I feel housekeeping is where my talents really lie. Before this, I worked in a senior school, however after 25 years I decided I wanted to try something different.

As part of my role, I have the privilege of spending time with our residents on a daily basis, mingling and chatting with them and finding out whether there is anything I can do for them. I am lucky to have a great team who keeps our home sparkling clean and shares my sentiment that nothing is too much for our lovely residents.
