The first thing that struck me when I began to live in this home was the friendly nature of all the staff. That has continued throughout my stay. Nothing is too much trouble. From the manager to the latest recruit, their sole aim is to please the client. It was not my choice to be a full-time resident before, circumstances changed that decision and this was definitely the right one.

Scarlet House is a lovely clean care home, bright and airy. The coffee hub is a great asset in getting residents gathering and chatting with visitors. This area nearly always has a great vibe. On the odd occasion it's empty, guess there's been other activities on as there are quite a lot of these. Rooms are comfortable and adequate Especially with so many places to go. There's a cinema with a bar, quiet rooms, lounges, a garden and clean dining rooms. Overall a great place.

My mother suddenly lost her sight in June 2024 and was admitted into Scarlet House urgently. Her care has been mostly neglectful until my brother and I contacted the CEO and adult social care having complained to manager, deputy manager and care team, with none or little change. It was only after my mother fell in her bathroom and broke both hips and was hospitalised that things improved and a safe guarding inspection was carried out. I am much happier with her care now but it has been a long fight to improve it.

My aunt and uncle entered Scarlet House almost a year ago. During this time they have been well looked after by caring and attentive staff. Every time we entered the premises it is clean as well as their rooms. Well tended and the surroundings very pleasant indeed.

I have every confidence in the safely at the residents at the home.

My mum has been living in the home since March 2024, she has adapted well and she is content and relaxed. Also she has had less medical problems since she has been at the home. We have had a rough year but the staff have supported us as well as taking good care of our mum. The home was hit with a D&V virus in November and quickly got their system in place to deal with it and with the nursing and care the residences received prevented a lot of them going to hospital. We have enjoyed the events through the year and feel part of the home.

Scarlet House has a nice atmosphere, very welcoming. Staff are always pleasant and keep me informed of changed or concerns with dad. Lots of effort made with activities and all residents being included when they want too. Dad has taken a while to settle in but he has enjoyed the Christmas period here and is happier.

We first encountered Scarlet House for a respite stay for my husband in 2024. However after a lengthy hospital stay it was not possible to continue to be cared for at home. He was admitted to Scarlet House. This has proved a successful move, he is monitored and cared for and with his developing dementia is treated with dignity and patience.

My Mum has been a resident in Scarlet House for over 4 years now. We can not praise the staff on the unit and managers enough for the exceptional care that Mum is receiving.
The activities schedule is really good to and residents are encouraged to take part.

I would recommend Scarlet House to anyone who is looking for care for an elderly relative.

Adrian Boldog
Adrian BoldogJob Title:Home Manager

Becoming a Home Manager at Scarlet House has been the highlight of my career so far. Before this, I was working as a Team Leader. I really wanted an opportunity to progress in my career, and that’s something Care UK has offered.

As Home Manager, it’s important to be caring, compassionate and have a good eye for detail. You also need to have good interpersonal skills and be diligent, hardworking and committed to the home.

I love seeing the residents enjoying activities in the home – it's my favourite part of my working day. I’m proud to work with a fantastic team that makes a difference in residents’ day-to-day lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy family life, and my other interests include music and cars.
