Amherst House is a beautiful, purpose-built care home set in the heart of Surrey. The dedicated team provides 24-hour nursing, dementia and residential care in luxurious surroundings.

The spacious, modern home is organised into four suites, each with its own dining room and lounge. The bedrooms in the Surrey home are designed to the highest of standards and each feature en-suite bathrooms. The home's exceptional facilities include a cinema, hair and beauty salon and a bright and spacious café. Four terraces are located on the upper floor, and landscaped sensory gardens outdoors include a bee and butterfly sanctuary.

The lifestyle team offers a varied activity programme including trips out to local areas of interest in the home's minibus.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My Mum has been at Gracewell Horley Park for almost 2 years. It's been a difficult time after she lost her husband of 50 years and obviously during the past year with very little freedom. The staff are excellent - polite, caring and friendly. The room is nice and she has a nice quiet garden area directly
outside. The management is good, and we feel updated regularly on progress during Covid. The food is generally good - although I think Mum would like something a bit spicier on occasion. Overall I would recommend. It's not cheap - but I don't think many care homes are!

My aunt came to live at Gracewell of Horley Park in October. We appreciated the help and support we received in organising her admission, she was welcomed into the home by friendly staff and quickly settled into her new surroundings. Her medical needs were assessed and have been well managed and despite
the restrictions due to the current Covid situation. Staff have worked hard to organise a variety of activities and social times which she enjoys.
My aunt tells me that she enjoys the quality and variety of food that she is offered and the availability of beverages throughout the day.
I find communications from Gracewell clear and informative with an acknowledgement of the concerns of friends and relatives of residents in these difficult times.

We have been very impressed with the care Mum received at Gracewell. It has always been considerate, professional but also good fun. Everyone has been so approachable, and nothing has been too much trouble. This has been across the board, from carers and nurses, through to management, admin, kitchen,
maintenance, and housekeeping. Mum, herself was full of praise for the home, the staff and her beautiful room. It was her home for over five and a half years. She enjoyed the activities, the garden, the front balcony was a favourite spot, and not forgetting her weekly visit to the in-house hairdresser. A big thank you from the family.

From the minute I walked into Gracewell one and a half years ago, I have been impressed by the consistently high standard of care and attention to detail. The friendly welcome and knowledgeable staff reassured me that my mother was in good hands. The environment is clean and stimulating, both inside
and out. When phoning or visiting, the staff clearly knew my mother and her personality. The care was person-centred and consistent no matter what time of the day or night. Mum was clearly fond of all the staff and full of praise. Working in social care and social work for 40 years, I have never witnessed such a consistently high standard of care. Heartfelt thanks.

I first came across Gracewell Horley in 2017 while looking for a first-rate care home for my dad. In the end, Dad never needed to come here but when my mother-in-law was needing a care home, I recommended Gracewell. I have been extremely impressed not just by the building itself which is lovely, clean,
well-maintained and accessible but because the staff without exception were lovely. My mother-in-law's care has indeed been brilliant, highly considerate, attentive and professional.

All the staff are amazing. The care they gave our mother was exemplary. She was immediately welcomed into the community with love and kindness. As her condition deteriorated (the last six weeks or so) they put in more care and were very responsive to her and our needs.
In the end, we stayed for days
and nights as we did not want our mother to die alone. We were accommodated and treated with respect and empathy. Everyone was very kind. We could not have chosen a better care home for our wonderful mother. Thank you.

My mother became a resident at Gracewell almost a year and a half ago after a month in another care home that was not a good experience. From the moment she arrived at Gracewell she has received exceptional care all round. The staff have gone out of their way to make sure her every need is met. Mum's
care has gone from residential, to nursing, to end of life, and at every stage, we have been involved as a family and supported as much as Mum. Mum's care is so personal and individual, absolutely wonderful!

Mum has had very good care since being here since May 2019. Staff are very friendly and obliging. Meals and variety of choice are excellent and nothing seems too much trouble. My Mum has been in the home on 3 different units for over 2 1/2 years now as both her dementia and physical abilities have declined. There are some real positives with her being in the home. Security of having her in a place of safety is reassuring. Majority of the care staff - qualified / unqualified
are kind, caring and thoughtful. When we have had cause to raise concerns or issues, the management, actions have been swift, decisive and change has happened. My negative comments are driven by attention to detail and understanding what my Mum likes. I appreciate that this can be a tall order and no one will ever be able to meet that need like family do. That being said, there are some elements that should be checked on e.g. hair needing washing - why wait until the hairdresser is due - could they; 1. Wash hair or 2. Use dry shampoo or 3. book an earlier appointment? Check attire after meals to make sure that clothes remain clean etc. Address these and they will make a difference.

My father has been at Gracewell Of Horley Park for nearly two years and my wife and I are as impressed today as we were when he arrived.
The level of care provided by all the staff is second to none. Every staff member seems genuinely interested in the residents' well being and will go out of their
way to accommodate any special requests.
The food is of a very high standard and alternative options to the menu are always available if wanted.
There is a high level of cleanliness in all areas and the rooms and communal areas are bright and cheerful. Recently, brand new furniture was introduced into the lounges making them look even more stylish than they were before (and they looked pretty good even before the changes).
My father is really happy here and we know that he is safe and well looked after. It may not be the cheapest but then the best never is and compared to similarly priced alternatives this is most definitely the best. We highly recommend this home without hesitation.

Mum moved into Gracewell of Horley Park in March and I can’t praise and thank the whole team enough, both for the ongoing over and above support and care they give to her but also to us as family and friends from the first contact and visit, then continually ever since. As others have mentioned nothing
is too much trouble and their high level of professionalism and compassion shine through in every interaction with residents, family and each other.

My mother, who has dementia, has now been a resident for nearly a year. In that time she has been helped to settle in, not easy after the death of her husband and partner of over 70 years. She has a lovely room with en-suite, access to communal lounge and dining room.
There are activities for her to
enjoy every day. Entertainers, art, cooking, exercise, films, music and dancing are some we have noted. She seems to have made new friends, and as a friendly person, herself enjoys chatting and telling her stories.
We can visit at any time and have always found the staff very friendly. They are willing to answer any of our queries. There is a cafe area where we can make drinks and chat to mum. There are enclosed gardens leading off the cafe.
Mum has a weekly hair do at the onsite hairdressers, which is good. Foot care can be arranged but we have found this less satisfactory. Doctor visits regularly. Also optician.
Well managed home.

Mum has settled exceptionally well and has soon found a group of friends to have meals with and to attend events with too. She finds the talks stimulating but at 94 tends to miss the exercise sessions!


She speaks highly of the meals and of the staff involved in her care.


I am impressed with the

way staff have come to recognise mum's family and are able to talk about her progress with us. She has a lovely ensuite room and has brought in a few key items from her old home.

I am a registered general nurse with experience in acute cardiac care and learning disabilities. I joined the home in October 2016. I am a diabetes and fall prevention champion. I have proven clinical skills and advanced knowledge which led to me being promoted. I pride myself on being resident-focused and ensuring that all individuals we support are empowered to make choices and participate fully in the running of their homes. I enjoy spending time bonding with residents and their families, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and happiness are met. I was very proud to be awarded the Champion of Quality Care award in 2019.
