My Aunt had lived alone for many years and would have liked to carry on. Unfortunately, she fell over in September and the OT concluded that she would be unsafe.
We carried out a review of care homes with the brief from my Aunt. She wanted to be at a care home with others who may be physically frail, but mentally fit; the home should be close to her friends.
Gracewell was the clear choice; their model of having separate self -contained floors, for different care levels met my Aunt’s wishes. My Aunt soon felt that she would stay. She enjoys the interaction with the others on her floor, and she has appreciated being cared for.
Recently as her frailty has increased and my Aunt has moved to a different floor.
In the face of COVID, Gracewell has done magnificently. They have enabled meaningful visits.

My Aunt continues to express her appreciation of Gracewell of Edgbaston, “I feel comfortable, and I feel safe”. As a former Head Mistress of a large school, that says it all.

My partner is a resident at Gracewell of Edgbaston. On the eve of covid-19 lockdown, I realised I would not be able to visit him and I, being 72, would be isolated alone at home. Gracewell agreed to let me come to stay, which has proved the most positive experience. For 24/7, I have witnessed excellent management of the crisis of unselfish levels of caring by all staff - when the day comes, it will be very hard to leave my extended family.

When searching around for a care home, we visited Gracewell of Edgbaston and received an excellent reception. They were waiting ready for us, helped us in from our car, gave us drinks, sat us down and told us all about the home and what it's aims were. Then they showed us all over the building. We liked the lively atmosphere and the furnishing styles (the ground floor lounge especially) felt as though it was one's own home. (modern and stylish!) It all looked fresh and cared for and smelt fresh, unlike other places. Staff good and caring.

Gracewell accommodated a family member for 12 weeks during the Covid-19 pandemic. At very short notice the admissions process was dealt with and all was smooth and hassle-free.
My aunt was quickly attended to and made to feel very comfortable and at ease quickly. The staff were second to none and just couldn’t do enough for her and at times went over and above their normal duties to please her.
Although this was a difficult time for all staff and residents, everything was handled in a professional but friendly manner and updates were sent to me via email and by telephone.
Overall, I couldn’t fault the care and attention provided along with excellent communication from the administration staff in order to try to meet my aunt’s needs and preferences.

3 members of staff, in particular, were so very patient and kind and nothing was too much trouble. A big thank you to you and the rest of the staff at Gracewell of Edgbaston.

My mother has been residing here for 2 years and has settled in well. She has dementia and at times can be a bit difficult but the staff are well trained and able to care for her and her needs. Staff are very friendly and professional from the carers through to the admin staff and the management. I particularly like the way all staff will greet my mum if they pass her in the corridor and say hello to her and call her by her name which makes her feel special. The activities coordinator organises a variety of different activities keeping residents stimulated and helping them interact with each other. Pre-COVID-19 days, the home regularly had primary school children go into the home and sang for the residents or joined in with colouring/drawing - my mum particularly likes these activities. Gracewell is a modern home, with a lovely dining room, good food, lovely bedrooms and safe for all the residents. I would definitely recommend it.

Gracewell has been meticulous in keeping their residents safe during this COVID crisis and keeping residents in touch with family. My mum has been well fed and healthy during these times, it is sad not to be able to visit her but I can't fault the quality of the carers in doing a brilliant job with all the extra requirements being made of them.

My Sister-in-Law was taken into the care home for end of life care. When we visited we were struck with two things in particular. How modern, clean and attractive the facilities were but more importantly how much the staff were loving and caring, not only to the resident but to the close family as well. We can't thank them enough for the love and care they gave my Sister-in-Law and how they made the very difficult situation that much easier for everyone involved. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility for anyone who needs their services. They will be extremely well looked after.

I was really impressed on my first visit to see my friend here. There is a welcoming, warm atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and professional. Excellent support to residents and spacious, spotlessly clean facilities. An impressive menu with choices - my friend is gluten-free, and the kitchen staff have made a lovely alternative. Very helpful reception and info re: Coronavirus.

"There is no place like home".
My mother has spent a series of months with long stays in the hospital. Last week, Mum took to her hospital bed, stopped eating, drinking and speaking. This continued for several days, and we feared the worst.
Mum was subsequently transferred back to Gracewell, there was a distinct transformation - she was talking, eating and more importantly, smiling - she was glad to "be home".

The team at Graewells are all about "living well". The care and support they provide is exemplary.
