Edgbaston Manor provides dedicated residential, nursing and dementia care of the highest standard on a permanent and respite basis.

Set in a quiet suburb of Birmingham, the home overlooks Calthorpe Park. Many of the large, en-suite bedrooms have park views. Upstairs rooms have balconies while ground floor rooms have direct, private patio access.

The home is arranged into smaller suites, each with their own stylish dining and sitting rooms, to provide a home-from-home for residents. The team arrange a varied activity programme and outings to local areas of interest.

Respite stays are subject to a 20% uplift on the prices shown above. Fees are subject to a pre-admission

Gracewell not only looked after the service user but the family was equally important and made us all so welcome. The home is immaculate and the care given was excellent. From the front of house staff right through to the management, excellent, each and every one. My Mother in Law was in for respite
but did not want to leave. She enjoyed it so much. Thank you to each and every one of you and visiting acts for everything.

. Overall a lovely establishment/environment.
. Too many agency staff.
. A lot of change in management.
. Some very good individual staff - although they work too many hours on each shift.
. A lot of movement of staff around the unit/home.
. Food and choices - excellent/visitors made welcome.

More activities and group sessions needed.
. Residents appear to be in their rooms, the lounge is underused.

My father was discharged from the hospital to Gracewell to recover from a broken hip and shoulder. We had no choice of the facility because it was arranged by the hospital but we were very pleased with Gracewell. The facilities were nice and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. They always tried
to accommodate all our requests. Dad was comfortable and well cared for. Although the prognosis was not good on his arrival he recovered sufficiently to go home after eight weeks. He was accommodated in the dementia care ward. Everyone seemed happy there and the staff seemed well trained. Their patience was endless. I would consider Gracewell as a permanent home for my parents as and when they need a transition from care at home.

The home is fine for those residents who have capacity and have the ability to state their needs and ask for support, food, drinks etc BUT not those who are not able to communicate or have the capacity to express themselves. His facility is more of a hotel rather than a care home and would not recommend
for those with a complex nursing needs. The regular carers are wonderful and built a fantastic rapport with my mother but there is also a high degree of agency staff, who clearly do not have a clue about basic needs. The home relies on the goodwill of these few carers who have been there since the home opened last year - without them Gracewell would be at serious risk of putting service users at risk. Since May 2015, there have been 5 different managers in place. We have given much feedback regarding my mother's care needs to management and this was never addressed. An agency nurse failed to identify a pressure ulcer and 4 days later the hospital identified this as a Grade 4 pressure sore.

I’ve been a Registered Nurse for more than 18 years and have more than 12 years of experience working in care homes. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that being a good manager means leading with compassion, patience and resilience, while supporting everyone in the home to do their very best.


Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, especially my daughter, and visiting my favourite place in the world, Cornwall.
