Overall Experience
The care the residents receive is outstanding.
Residents are encouraged to do things for themselves but staff are always there to reassure and take over when needed.
Residents are always happy and sad when it's time to leave.
The staff go beyond their working role and will take time out to make sure anyone who has to go back to hospital gets visited by a familiar face.

Visiting on a regular basis has been an enjoyable experience.

Fantastic service, friendly and professional. Show my father respect and make him as comfortable as possible. The girls both work on 2nd floor, they are a real credit to the home and the industry.

There was a lovely sing-a-long with plenty of memory prompts and interaction. We sang songs from the shows and films and had a lovely range of instruments to add to the fun. It was gently paced, birthdays were remembered and anniversaries remembered with the Anniversary Waltz. There was even a little bit of dancing and actions to songs. Staff were present to assist and encourage movement through clapping or playing percussion. Everyone's name was included in a lovely welcome song. A really lovely time.

Arriving at Gracewell after extensive surgery to my leg the staff handled my specific needs most professionally. The quality of care and the happy relaxed and homely atmosphere certainly aided my recovery - group from none weight bearing to walking normally again.

A big thank you to everyone. A senior carer said "your room is your home". How true this was, which made feel me very welcome. Just the reassurance I needed.

The care and attention my nan has received whilst staying at Gracewell Edgbaston has been exceptional. The difference in my nan's mood and enthusiasm for life has been noticeably improved and she is the best she has been in 3years.
This would not have been possible, had the staff here not shown compassion, care and welcomed her into Gracewell.

It has put our minds at rest that residential care is the right place for nan.

I moved to Gracewell for care and company as I have macular degeneration and can no longer see very well. My husband who is receiving care has Alzheimer's and was already living here, so now we are together again, and we celebrate our 61st wedding anniversary this month. I love my room. It feels like home and I am very happy to be here.

Mum stayed at Gracewell of Edgbaston for respite care following a nasty fall resulting in a broken foot. From arriving at Gracewell she has been treated with the utmost care, in fact, several members of staff wanted to take her home with them!! I would not hesitate to use this facility in the future if needed. Thank you to all at Gracewell of Edgbaston.

Gracewell not only looked after the service user but the family was equally important and made us all so welcome. The home is immaculate and the care given was excellent. From the front of house staff right through to the management, excellent, each and every one. My Mother in Law was in for respite but did not want to leave. She enjoyed it so much. Thank you to each and every one of you and visiting acts for everything.

. Overall a lovely establishment/environment.
. Too many agency staff.
. A lot of change in management.
. Some very good individual staff - although they work too many hours on each shift.
. A lot of movement of staff around the unit/home.
. Food and choices - excellent/visitors made welcome.
. More activities and group sessions needed.

. Residents appear to be in their rooms, the lounge is underused.

Thank you from my Mum.

My father was discharged from the hospital to Gracewell to recover from a broken hip and shoulder. We had no choice of the facility because it was arranged by the hospital but we were very pleased with Gracewell. The facilities were nice and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. They always tried to accommodate all our requests. Dad was comfortable and well cared for. Although the prognosis was not good on his arrival he recovered sufficiently to go home after eight weeks. He was accommodated in the dementia care ward. Everyone seemed happy there and the staff seemed well trained. Their patience was endless. I would consider Gracewell as a permanent home for my parents as and when they need a transition from care at home.

Overall Experience

The home is fine for those residents who have capacity and have the ability to state their needs and ask for support, food, drinks etc BUT not those who are not able to communicate or have the capacity to express themselves. His facility is more of a hotel rather than a care home and would not recommend for those with a complex nursing needs. The regular carers are wonderful and built a fantastic rapport with my mother but there is also a high degree of agency staff, who clearly do not have a clue about basic needs. The home relies on the goodwill of these few carers who have been there since the home opened last year - without them Gracewell would be at serious risk of putting service users at risk. Since May 2015, there have been 5 different managers in place. We have given much feedback regarding my mother's care needs to management and this was never addressed. An agency nurse failed to identify a pressure ulcer and 4 days later the hospital identified this as a Grade 4 pressure sore.

At Edgbaston Manor, teamwork is at the heart of everything we do. We support each other to provide the highest standards of care and to make our home a happy, welcoming place for residents and families alike. My door is always open if you’d ever like to share any feedback or simply have a chat.

I’ve been a Registered Nurse for more than 18 years and have more than 12 years of experience working in care homes. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that being a good manager means leading with compassion, patience and resilience, while supporting everyone in the home to do their very best.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, especially my daughter, and visiting my favourite place in the world, Cornwall.
