My husband has been a resident at Holyrood House for a short period, since November 2024.
I was impressed from the word go, When I was given a tour of Holyrood House by a very professional and friendly staff member, prior to my husband becoming a resident. Immediately I felt comfortable and impressed
with the spacious rooms and facilities. Staff are friendly, pleasant and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Residents are treated with dignity and respect, all look presentable and cared for. The meals are varied and of a high standard. Drinks and snacks are offered in between meals.

As a family we are very pleased with the care that mum receives. Mum settled in very quickly and regards Holyrood House at her home. She is always full of praise for the staff, and us as a family always find they are only too happy to help with any issues we have. We feel we all work together to provide
mum with the best care possible. We would have no hesitation in recommending Holyrood House to other families who are looking for care.

I am so happy with the way my mam's moods have changed since coming into Holyrood House, the staff are very caring and their patience is second to none. My mam has started to eat and enjoy food again.

From what I have seen, staff are caring, food is up to standard but sometimes will have to wait too long to be taken to the toilet. The home is clean and tidy, staff and management are very helpful when asked any questions. Food is good and tasty but can change depending on which cook is on duty, so
I am told.

The home had plenty of Christmas activities over the festive period, and had lovely decorations up. From my experience the residents were made to feel part of the festive period. They even made gifts to give to their loved ones, and all the residents received a present from Santa. The staff wore Christmas
pyjamas on Christmas Eve, and those who weren't working brought their children in, all dressed in Christmas pj's, and sang carols. I thought this was wonderful and so thoughtful. The carers are lovely, cheery people, who seem to genuinely care for the residents. I have also seen some of the cleaners helping the residents. I have found the admin staff very friendly and helpful. All the staff I have had contact with have made a very difficult time bearable. I am so glad we found this home, I didn't want to put my dad into a home, and fought against it for 7 years, but I feel he is in the best place. He is safe, cared for, needs met, well fed, entertained and settled.

I cannot fault Holyrood House my wife has been on the dementia ward nearly 3 years now. All staff are respectful to the needs of the residents. I am informed of any changes in her health or medications. The care home is always clean (nothing nasty or cover up smells). Staff are always friendly and polite.
My wife is cared for better than I could care for her 24 hours a day.

Holyrood House is always clean and tidy, with welcoming staff. My mother has been a resident for over 2 years now and receives care and support with her dementia. Staff are very attentive to her and know exactly how to handle and speak with her. There always seems to be activities ongoing which is nice
to see, and there are opportunities to attend and have a meal in a nice setting with my mother. Overall I am very satisfied with the care my mother receives.

My friend is well looked after and has been in the home over 4 years.
Staff are patient and caring.
The home is in nice condition and is always welcoming when I visit.
There seem to be a lot of activities, but my friend doesn't join in, so I can't comment.
I would be happy to recommend it as a care
home.

Mum moved into Holyrood House in December after a previous respite visit. The staff are all very friendly and professional and any questions we had were addressed promptly and effectively. Mum needs round the clock care which is working well and we feel that she is safe and comfortable.

Overall the care home is good. We find as a family the food is very disappointing and could be improved massively especially on an evening. Most staff are friendly. Definitely room for improvements in some areas.

All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Mum is on the Dementia floor, and has got advanced dementia. The staff are so helpful and tend to her personal needs. We are happy knowing that Mum is safe, happy and very well looked after. Thank you.

I have found that my wife is very well cared for on the dementia floor. The staff are always respectful and kind to the residents and always ready to help with personal needs. The home is always clean and tidy, the staff work hard to maintain standards.
My only gripes would be some lack of care of
infrastructure (dud light bulbs not renewed) and some staff, not all, spend a lot of time on their mobile phones even when dealing with residents.
However, overall a very good care home.

In relation to your comment about the use of mobile phones by staff I would like to take this opportunity to explain that the handsets that the staff are using are not mobile phones they are devices to record all aspects of care and interactions. This is called the Person Centered Software (PCS)which is used throughout the home.

It has been a really difficult and shocking experience for us when mum was diagnosed with dementia. She was not safe at home and for that reason alone, we had to seek residential care.
We do feel that she is cared for at Holyrood House in a way that we could never replicate at home. Even though this
is not what we would wish for mum, we are thankful of the care she receives here.

I find the staff, both the care and office staff helpful and friendly all the time. The entertainment for the residents is of a very high quality.
The Home is within easy reach for me and the parking is good. There are plenty of places for the residents and visitors to sit. You can go to the cafe area
if you don't want to stay where the tv is or you can take your family member to their room for a quiet chat.

Moving my elderly father into a care home was a daunting move for both him, myself and our family, and lets not forget that the resident himself can be somewhat averse to accepting his new surroundings, which can initially make things more difficult, but I have to say I can't thank the staff enough
at Holyrood House for their time and patience in helping my Dad to settle in. They are very aware of individual needs and do everything possible to accommodate my Dad, myself and the whole family.
There is a very wide variety of entertainment to join in with and everyone goes above and beyond to create a happy and caring environment.

I came to Holyrood House for respite care after a complete should replacement. The carers were extremely helpful especially during the first week what I couldn't get out of bed by myself. During my stay there, I found all the staff (day and night) cheerful, friendly and caring. It was a pleasure to
have such help at a time when I needed it.

Mum had to go into care home following a fall and to assist in getting mobility back after a broken knee.
Overall experience was good but Mum always wished to return back to her home.
Staff were all good. Very attentive and met with Mum's needs.
Two areas of complaints though - constant room alarm
bleeping outside her room which was very annoying and meals (could not supply her with soft food diet for some reason)

I visited my neighbour just before Christmas, she is in her own room which is lovely and she is very happy with everything in the home. The place is spotless and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Reception is always lovely and very friendly also. I really don't have anything bad to say.

Since leaving college I have always worked within the care sector. I have worked in Holyrood House for 9 years, throughout my time here I have had a number of roles progressing from a Team Leader to my current role of Deputy Manager, working alongside the Home Manager to lead and support the team. Crown Care have given me the opportunities to progress further within my career.


Holyrood is one of the best teams I have worked for within the care sector, every member of staff genuinely cares and strives to deliver a high standard of care for each resident. There is also a great support network within the team, there is always a laugh to be had and ear for listening. It is a pleasure to be a part of team Holyrood!

Hi I am Gill, the Business Administrator at Holyrood House. I have 35 years of admin experience mainly in the Education Sector where I worked as Office Manager before becoming a Business Manager. I left Education to move into an extremely niche role within the Wakefield’s Safeguarding Adults Board where I was first introduced to Adult Social Care. I loved working within this sector and was then offered the position at Holyrood House. I enjoy the variety of the role with each day been totally different, I particularly enjoy meeting the families and trying to make their decision of moving a loved one into care as seamless as possible. I enjoy interaction with the residents having chance to put a smile of their faces is priceless and so rewarding. The staff team are like one huge family and we love working as a team always ensuring our residents have enjoyment during their time at Holyrood House.

I really enjoy working at Holyrood and love the team I work with. I have been part of the team at Holyrood House, since 2016. I was encouraged to further my development early into my career gaining level 2 NVQ in adult social care and then onto my Level 3 diploma. I started as a care assistant progressing to senior and now my current role of unit manager on our dementia care unit - I love what I do and could not see myself doing any other job, it is so rewarding - we have a fantastic team.

Hi I am Jeanette I have worked in care for approximately 16years and have been at holyrood house for the past 9 years this coming July. I am part of the night team as night unit manager. Here at Holyrood, we are one big family. Over the years I have had the privilege to care for amazing residents, all unique in their own way. Aiming to provide them with rich and full filling lives in their later years in a person-centred care way, i work with some of the best caring natured staff who always put the needs of their residents first. I continue to enjoy working at holyrood as much as I did the first day I walked through its doors.

My name is Vinoda Nadungodage, and I bring nearly two years of experience in the care sector. I have successfully worked as a care assistant in a care home and as a community carer. Having worked in the care sector for a short period, I initially felt some nerves about joining a larger team at Holyrood House. However, I was warmly welcomed by everyone, who wholeheartedly cared about one other as well as the residents. I feel both supported and appreciated in this environment. Hello my name is Tracey Trickey, I am Catering Manager here at holyrood House. I have worked here 8+ years and started as an assistant on part time hours when I joined team Holyrood and rather quickly ended up cooking and just loved it. I still to this day, more than ever, absolutely love my job. I enjoy most of all feeding our lovely residents some delicious foods. My role is a bit of everything where catering and food is concerned here. From ordering all foods to menu choices to and keeping my amazing team doing their job to the highest standards to maintain our 5* rating. We love making the residents happy after a good meal and some sweet delights.

Hello my name is Rob. I have worked in the Care sector for 11 years as a maintenance operative, and worked at Holyrood House since March 2022. My job is to ensure that we provide a safe and comfortable environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. Getting to know residents and family helps me to understand any specific requirements that the resident or family may have. Making people feel comfortable at home and safe is the main objective for me.
