Fountains Lodge is a purpose built home offering nursing, dementia and palliative care. They offer short stays too, to help both carers and their elderly loved ones at times when they need a break or a little extra support. It could be that you’re going away and you want peace of mind that you’re loved one won’t be on their own, or they might need to recuperate after an operation or illness.

All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and offer ensuite facilities, while some come with patio doors providing direct garden access. The home also has its own cinema and café as well as lounges and private dining areas for family and friends to come and enjoy when visiting their loved ones or celebrating a birthday or anniversary together.

Fountains Lodge is situated in Southborough, Tunbridge Wells a few minutes from all its amenities – shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and has good transport and road links, making it ideally located for visiting family and friends.

At Fountains Lodge, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Fountains Lodge, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

I visit my aunt regularly. She is always immaculate and very well cared for. The staff treat her with the utmost dignity and never forget her as a person with a history who has had a full active life.

Thank you for your review about Fountains Lodge and the high standards of care there.

I now have both parents being cared for at Fountains. I can't speak highly enough of the care that they are receiving. From the manager to the cleaners, everyone is part of the team. In the two years, I have never once heard anyone be anything but courteous, kind, encouraging and understanding with residents (and I can overhear everything being there so often).
The staff go out of their way to provide an environment that provides comfort, cleanliness and care. They are upbeat, keep in touch and do as much as they can to help, coming up with coping strategies for inevitable problems that crop up.
The manager is excellent and I feel that the home has flourished in terms of what it is offering residents and especially in the continuity of care (so very important with dementia) since he arrived a couple of years ago.
There are staff who are in charge of activities. Music plays a bit part in the home, the food is fabulous, most home cooked. Great garden too. Thank you Fountains.

My husband has been in the care of Fountains Lodge for 3 1/2 years. In that time I have had no cause for complaints and I would recommend to anyone seeking a caring, efficient environment for a relative under the care of the manager.

My mother has been a resident at Fountains Lodge for 15 months, she has settled well and is hugely appreciative of the kindness of the staff great care and respect given to her, the good food, engaging activities and lovely environment. The garden is a special delight in mild weather. There is always a staff member or activities organiser to help or comfort. The home is well managed and comments are always listened and responded to.

Sadly mum's dementia has deteriorated to the extent that she has been bed-bound since the beginning of the year. At all times she is treated with the greatest respect for her dignity, genuine affection and gentle humour to ensure life remains as comfortable and "normal" as possible. The support given to myself is equally superb. If you had a category higher than excellent I would award it to all the staff of Fountains Lodge!

Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear that your mum's dementia has deteriorated. It must give you peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well cared for and that you are supported as well which is just as important to us.

My mother has been a resident since October 2015. She receives dementia and nursing care.
The staff give Mum great care and support and she is always treated with dignity. Although she is confined to a wheelchair and can’t remember who or where she is half the time, she remains happy. Her bedroom is spacious and she has her own furniture to make her feel at home. She enjoys her walks around the garden with me or a staff member. I am made to feel welcome whenever I turn up, as are friends and other families. As care homes go, she couldn’t be in a better place. Thank you, Fountains.

This home has looked after my father for two and a half years. The building is purpose built and is well maintained and equipped. The standard of care and kindness shown to my father by staff at all levels, from cleaners to the manager is exemplary. Consequently, the atmosphere is calm and friendly and my father seems contented and secure.

My mother was in the downstairs part of the building.
Some of the staff were very caring and kind (especially the activities lady).
Some were brusque and not caring at all.
Overall a pretty mixed experience.

Thank you for your review. Your comments are extremely important to us and our residents’ health and wellbeing is our absolute priority. We will discuss your feedback with the home’s manager to help them continually improve their service.

My husband has been a resident of Fountains Lodge since September 2016, needing full nursing care. From that time the carers, nurses, administrative staff and the manager have looked after him well, also the staff in the kitchen, housekeeping and laundry - every department in fact.
Activities staff have involved him as much as possible considering his disabilities. There are some things which it is difficult to point out with just a tick in a box. These are the patience, compassion and understanding shown to my husband and also to me, which has been exceptional.
Although our family live some distance away, they are welcomed and made to feel at home and I have complete confidence that my husband will be well cared for whenever I am away visiting them.

Fountains Lodge Care Home has such a nice "vibe" about it and the staff are friendly and approachable. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I always feel that my grandma is in safe hands and I know that the staff will call me if there are any problems. There are always activities on and all the residents are included which is nice to see! It was a hard decision putting grandma in a home but we made the right decision. Fountains is amazing.

Having your father go into a home is a horrendous thing, particularly when you co-cared for him full time for the previous immediate period. I was concerned if my father's innate physical ability and desire to walk and move would be curtailed but although he is now much more sedentary due to the progression of the disease, he has been able to walk freely in long corridors, big lounges and a garden.

There are some care staff who you can tell have the knowledge and experience of being in an environment and interacting with, specifically, elderly people with Alzheimer's. They don't judge and try to tell you what would be good to do because it is presumed you don't know. When you are visiting, they give you that time with your loved one.

It seems a good, respectful, trying place. Thank you.

In the two years my husband has been in this care home he has consistently received the very best of care by all the staff. The excellent management team ensure that standards across the board are the highest calibre. Thus the carers and nursing staff are efficient, attentive, friendly, compassionate and cheerful. The home itself is bright and clean and the garden provides additional sensory opportunities. Meals are nutritious with all needs catered for.
I am so grateful and relieved that my husband is safe and comfortable. I cannot praise this particular care home highly enough.

As power of attorney for a friend of 30 years, I visited many homes until I came across Fountains Lodge.
I knew instantly this was going to be the perfect place in all regards.
From meeting somebody in accounts initially, and over the last seventeen months getting to know the staff, I realise more and more I made the correct decision.
They are a truly dedicated team and it does not matter what time of the day/night I visit, everything is run professionally with added love and care.
Her room is always immaculate and so is she.
I am treated exceptionally well too and feel it really is home from home.
I have highly recommended Fountains Lodge to a friend and her mother in law is now a resident.
She joined Fountains Lodge two months ago.

I have found the care given to my wife, who has Alzheimer's, to be excellent. The staff are all delightful and generally know where she is (she is a wanderer!). Her care plan has been amended to include a daily walk with one of the carers. The atmosphere is always welcoming and no request is too much trouble.

Carers are compassionate and hard-working. They work in my mother's best interests. Her Parkinsons is very difficult as it affects her inconsistently and coupled with another disability, it means her requirements are unusual but as demanding as other residents. The home is not perfect, but we regard it very highly and are very grateful for the level of care provided.

We know our relative will be treated compassionately and caringly at the home and when we are not there we know they are safe and cared for. Staff, however, busy will always find time to discuss any concerns we may have about our relative and are prompt to contact us if they themselves have any concerns. The home provides a good range of activities each day and had many events and shows over Xmas. Many residents were singing and dancing with pleasure etched on their faces.

My wife of 85 was a resident and died there on 21st December 2016, had been in the home, both residential and nursing sections for the last twelve months. She suffered from advanced dementia and was unable to stand or walk and had severe breathing problems. I too was given every help and assistance, especially in her dying days. The home is not perfect, but hard to find fault. If there were any concerns the management and staff listened, took notice and quickly rectified the position. Relatives and residents are consulted and advised where necessary. In addition to the care and attention from all concerned, including younger members, the food is good, activities greatly improved and the gardens a pleasure to take residents during the year. The right people have been promoted and given authority. I have had experience with other homes and this is by far the best. To me, the final test is: - as a 90-year-old, would I be prepared and happy to become a resident there, possibly in my final months or years - without a doubt yes.

Observed residents unsupervised for period in excess of 30 minutes. Observed carer placing soiled pad on soft furnishing. Cushion removed for deep cleaning and chair left without a cushion for weeks. Resident left unattended in room after falling and injuring head. My Mother took up residence in difficult circumstances. Nothing phased the staff. They simply got on with helping Mum as best they could. I was always kept informed of all that was being done and what the plan was. It was tough going to start with but three months on and Mum is now in the best state possible for her to be in. She is calm and occupied happily with activities. All of which is a testament to the dedication of the carers. Whenever I visit, I am welcomed, whatever day of the week or time of day. I am particularly pleased to see that the carers are really getting to understand who Mum is and what she is capable of. The philosophy is to make the residents lives as happy as possible. I and other family members have peace of mind knowing that Mum is being treated with respect in a safe and stimulating environment. I have already recommended Fountains Lodge to others and I will continue to do so.

An excellent car home; the staff are brilliant as are the facilities. My mother settled into her new home very quickly and is enjoying life there. She particularly loves the quality and choice of food available and the kind and attentive staff. Full credit to the manager and his team for creating such a great environment, and one that allows me to have peace of mind that my mother is being given the highest standard of care.

The ability for residents to take ad hoc or organised trips outside the care home seems to us limited.

We have noticed a fall off in the quality of restaurant food during the last 12 to 18 months.

There have been occasions when we have experienced resident uncleanliness (by smell) at time of visit.

However, staff are always helpful and caring.

It is abundantly clear as soon as you walk into Fountains Lodge that you are entering a caring community. The staff are exceptionally friendly and all seem to be aware of mothers health and wellbeing. Mother is well cared for, her room is kept clean, and her personal appearance is always as she herself would expect it to be. The carers are all exceptional.

My wife has settled well into Fountains Lodge since her admission in September 2015. Apart from a brief spell with bed sores on her heels in November 2015 she has been looked after very well. Once this problem was identified it was dealt with promptly and efficiently. She seems relaxed and contented and is maintaining her weight. The staff are friendly and helpful.
