It is always a difficult decision to put a parent into a nursing home, especially when they have always been there for you throughout your life. Unfortunately, my Mum was suffering and really needed full-time care, she had struggled valiantly for the past few years but it had all become too much.
We looked at many Nursing homes, all well rated, some were surprising awful. So when we found Camberley Manor, it was more like a small luxury hotel with very caring and welcoming staff, who took the time to understand my Mum’s needs. It has been a difficult transition for my Mum, however, I must say the care is outstanding, nothing is too much trouble and my Mum looks better four weeks in than she did five years ago.

I have been particularly impressed with the staff, in particular, the Community development manager and the Unit manager assistance nurse, who have kept me up to date with Mum’s progress and truly care about how she is. I personally could not ask for more, being reassured that the whole team truly care for the residents.

Cannot praise the staff enough for looking after my mother-in-law. She needs constant encouragement to eat and drink and, if not for the staff, I truly believe she would not be with us now. They know how to encourage her and coax her into eating. The staff are amazing and keep us fully up-to-date with my mother-in-law's progress and, working in a care home myself, I know how difficult it is in these difficult times. They deserve all the praise they can get, plus more. Well done to Camberley Manor.

Review from Hazel V (Sister of Resident) published on 16 September 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister was moved from hospital to Camberley Manor in April in the early days of Covid-19, because of COVID we could not visit her, but the staff were great, so helpful and friendly whenever I telephoned. I loved being able to see the daily photos on the Camberley Manor Facebook Pages of the amazing activities and all the fun. It was such a comfort to see my sister’s smiling face enjoying herself and in beautiful surroundings. During my sister’s final days, the staff were so caring and supportive. We were able to visit to be with her one last time. The staff were extremely professional, following all the required safeguards but also kind and considerate. I am so grateful that my sister was in Camberley Manor during her final illness, I am convinced that the care was second to none and that she could not have been in a better place.

Mum has Alzhiemers and experienced a quick decline over lockdown which resulted in her moving to Camberley Manor after a spell in hospital.
As a family we have looked after Mum but in our hearts, we knew Mum needed 24/7 specialist dementia care. Camberley Manor took mum in with open arms and us as a family. Mum is thriving there, she looks 10 years younger and is having more fun than us.
Camberley Manor's communication with us has been outstanding. The staff have been brilliant, especially in the beginning he helped so much with the transition. We were welcomed with warmth by everyone who is involved with Mum's care, those I have met, and I am sure there are plenty more who we are yet to meet.

COVID makes visiting Mum difficult, she is still upset with us when we talk to her, however, I know she is having fun again! I have seen the pictures. Mum, prior to moving to Camberley Manor, was just existing at home, she is now living again. Thank you Camberley Manor.

After moving my Nan (who has vascular dementia) into Camberley Manor at short notice, unexpectedly following a partial hip replacement and during COVID-19, I can safely say that I could not wish for anything more in a care home. The facilities are amazing compared to any other home I've viewed and it's worth every penny. All of the staff have been incredible at helping her settle in over the past 5 weeks, encouraging her to participate in activities and updating me regularly. They've even been able to identify changes in her behaviour already and have gotten the GP involved straight away each time. I can't thank them enough and would recommend the home to anyone.

The staff were always courteous, fun, respectful and welcoming, making the difficult decision to move my father into a care home that much easier to comes to terms with. The transition for my father was challenging at times but a necessity to ensure he remained safe and well cared for while on his dementia journey. He was treated with care, dignity and respect and encouraged to participate in the numerous options of activities available to residents. As a family, we were always made to feel welcome and were included in decisions regarding his care. The support provided to us all was invaluable during his end of life care; in particular, the compassion shown by the entire team, including catering, nursing, management and the support staff demonstrates a team to be proud of and embodies the ethos of the entire care home.

The care and nursing staff at Camberley Manor are exemplary. There are very few care homes who go so above and beyond in their duty of care to their residents. My relative has complex needs and is treated with kindness and compassion and her physical health is well taken care of. It is of great relief that my relative is happy where she is and I have no anxieties about her needs being met. The staff are open and communicative and keep me updated. They are polite, helpful and professional and best of all find time to keep the residents happy. I am very grateful to the care and nursing staff.

Beautiful care home, Dad is really poorly but seems to have perked up a little since residing there.
It looks more like a lovely hotel to what I expected of a care home.
Staff are very friendly and attentive to my father, also very informative when we call for an update.
Mum and I are ready to move in.

We haven't seen Dad's room yet but this is clearly due to Covid 19 but we are sure it is just as lovely as the rest of the place. I have seen pictures on the website which are very impressive.

My mum was moved to the care home from hospital during lockdown; which was an awful time as the family were unable to settle Mum into the home. The manger and his team have been fantastic at giving us regular emails and phone calls to update us about how mum is settling in and even arranged a couple of video calls to mum. This was so lovely as it has been so hard not being able to see her. We are on their social media page and see lots of pictures of Mum smiling and doing various activities which are so varied. They have also had an opera singer and Scotsman playing the bagpipes to the residents outside of the home. The facilities and staff are second to none. We speak to Mum daily, and she’s always telling us about the amazing meals she has had and how lovely all the different staff that interact with her are. The home has a real homely feel, and Mum feels really settled, which we didn’t expect as she has vascular dementia, so gets very confused easily. Highly recommend this care home.

I just wanted to thank the staff at Camberley Manor for the way in which they handled the admission of Mum. Despite the extremely challenging circumstances in the current COVID-19 environment, the staff have made every effort to make Mum’s first few days fun and enjoyable. My Grandad had to move into the home very quickly in March from a residential home. The service, support, friendliness and flexibility of the care services manager and all the staff was outstanding in what was a very emotional and stressful time. Thank you.

Both my parents have been resident at Camberley Manor for a year. The staff have always treated them with warmth, patience and empathy and my mother enjoyed the social events and made new friends. Sadly my mother's health took a turn for the worse in February and she was admitted to hospital. We brought her home for the last few days of her life and the care provided by the carers and nurses was without parallel. She was treated with dignity and respect and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff from the wonderful management team to the carers, nurses, social team and the ancillary staff were amazing and so supportive of us during this traumatic time. They were especially wonderful to my father who struggles to understand what has happened. I find it difficult to put into words how much their support has meant to us. Their ongoing care of my father gives us great peace of mind. Thank you, Camberley Manor.

My mum had two weeks of respite care at Camberley Manor. It was a big step for us and quite emotional leaving her, but she was treated with care and respect and after two weeks left there feeling stronger and fitter. The staff were kind and considerate and nothing was too much trouble. Mum joined in with many of the activities, the staff always made sure she was aware of them and looked after her when participating. She enjoyed them all. My dad visited every day and was always made very welcome, joining Mum for lunch on occasions. Mum would happily return there should the need arise. Thank you, Camberley Manor.

After looking at four other homes for the elderly, I was very apprehensive about my mother going into a care home. However, as soon as I arrived at Camberley Manor, I knew I had found the right place. Clearly the home offers much comfort and excellent facilities but far more important than this are the staff and how much they care. My mother’s stay at Camberley Manor was sadly short but during her time there, I had complete peace of mind that she was being well looked after both physically and emotionally. Nothing was too much trouble and as her needs increased so did the support she was given and always with warmth and compassion. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this home and I shall always feel grateful that my Mum was so well cared for at the end of her life.

It was a significant decision to "relinquish" my caring role for 2 weeks - my husband is now physically and mentally frail after a working life of intense activity and sporting challenge and greatly loved by his whole family. My own professional life was called into play in my response to the care, commitment and consistency offered by Camberley Manor and I was totally satisfied by level of care and particularly the empathy shown throughout his stay.
