A full-time events manager at Cumnor Hill House organises a wide variety of activities and events for all residents to enjoy, while the home has its own chauffeur-driven vehicle for residents to use on days out and special occasions.

With an all-inclusive pricing policy at Cumnor Hill House, a single weekly fee covers all care, all facilities and all events.

Cumnor Hill House is, in our family experience, an exceptional residential home. It is professionally managed with highly experienced management. The staff are wonderful and caring and take a real pride in their work and the home. I have seen, at first hand, genuine kindness and compassion. This is

My father has been at Cumnor Hill House for the last four months and the care he has received has been very good. The staff treat my dad with total respect and dignity, especially with him suffering from mixed dementia his behaviour can sometimes be challenging.

Mum has been a permanent resident since September 2022. She had three periods of respite care prior to this. Mum made the choice to move from independent living to a residential home - a big change. The team supported her and me in the transition compassionately and professionally. Mum has been made
to feel part of a 'family'. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and calm. Like all homes providing care there are vacancies - in no way does this impact on the care or support Mum gets. The team have endless time for her. She is an early riser and as soon as she's awake a coffee appears, something she loves. The home operates on an all inclusive basis. This means she can use all the facilities without paying extra - I can have lunch or afternoon tea with Mum (as can a couple of her friends). This makes Mum feel like she is hosting (which she is). Her health is managed fabulously by the nursing staff who are responsible for the residential floor - a really important factor for Mum.

Cumnor Hill House is well run. Why I say it is not value for money at the moment is because we only have a hairdresser for 2 days sometimes it is less. We have no beautician. We have no activities manager and there is no continuity of working between them.

We are happy to announce that we have successfully recruited an events manager who will be starting soon. We have not been as lucky in recruiting a hairdresser or beautician, but we will continue to strive to find both. Meanwhile, we are speaking with another freelance hairdresser for one day a week so that will be three days when hairdressing is on offer.
Unfortunately, the health and social care sector are all suffering recruitment issues but we will continue to fill all our vacancies as soon as possible.

I visit a resident here once a week. I find the staff very approachable and helpful. The standard of care seems to be very good. I feel that the person I visit is cared about as well as for.

We are most impressed by the care which is provided here at Cumnor Hill House Care Home. Although apparently short of carers, the carers give 100% attention when dealing with the resident, kind, considerate, helpful and understanding. The two resident nurses are absolutely outstanding in everything
they do and say and I am kept up to date on my husband's medical situation. The meals provided are better than a five-star hotel, first-class in choice and presentation. There is always a warm welcome when arriving at the home and all the staff are pleasant, helpful and polite. All obvious signs of good management.

I came to Cumnor Hill House Care Home after a fall. I was given a stroller.
The room prepared for me had a hospital bed. I was told I can contact for help 24/7.

My in-laws needed respite care following a fall (and fractured pelvis). Cumnor Hill House Care Home proved to be a very good place for them to rest and recover, providing comfortable rooms, delicious food and a lovely garden. They felt well looked after and liked all the staff, although they complained
that there were times when nobody seemed to be around. I felt that they were safe and in good hands but worried occasionally about the admin of the home (particularly over a lost discharge letter) and the lack of medical personnel.

My mother was admitted to Cumnor Hill House Care Home this month and is in a lovely garden room. We had concerns that she would find it difficult to adjust but she has settled in very well after a short time with help from the staff who have been very attentive and caring. The daily update email is
a nice touch and keeps us informed as to what the menus are. The booking system for visiting is helpful especially during this problematic period for everyone.

My father has just returned home after spending two weeks respite at Cumnor Hill House. The staff were all incredible - not just to him but to us also. He made some lovely friends in the short time he was at the home and joined in the activities. He loved the group singing (next time less Vera and more
Beatles) and loved the concert last Thursday. The home itself was beautiful - so clean. His room had access to the lovely gardens and he was able to drive his mobility scooter from his room to the garden with ease. The food was five-star and the drink chilled to perfection, absolutely no complaints!

My aunt has complex care needs and came to the home unsettled some years ago. The staff could not have been more supportive in every aspect and she felt loved and cared for which has helped her settle. She has enjoyed all the activities and seemed to thrive (despite natural progression of her illness).
Covid has been hard due to the isolation from family, restriction, general fears, illness, and staffing issues, however, the home lost no time in setting up video and telephone call bookings to ensure residents could chat to relatives remotely and my relative's general care has been excellent, the staff have continued to arrange indoor and garden activities to the best of their abilities and finally being able to receive visitors back in the home has been most welcome. Every member of staff knows my aunt and treat her like a member of a big friendly extended family. I am very grateful for her care. They've posted enviable food delicacies on Facebook too.

My father moved in last month and has settled in very well. I spoke with everyone I knew in the care profession and read reviews sites and the CQC reports. The clear winner in terms of care was Cumnor Hill House and I must admit so far, I cannot fault it. It will be lovely when we can spend move time
in the home with my father with hopefully the covid restrictions easing!

I am a Registered Nurse and have over 30 years of experience in the Health and Social Care Sector. I began working in care homes in 1992 as a staff nurse and have since held various positions. During this time, I gained the Registered Managers Award qualification. I spent five years working as an Area Manager for a provider which ran five care homes in Oxfordshire. In 2006, I commissioned a new 64-bed dementia specialist home, something I achieved while at the same time successfully studying for a Diploma in dementia care.


My wealth of experience within the care industry, and passion for excellence, allow me to create an environment which promotes each individual’s well-being.

I am the Head Housekeeper at Cumnor Hill House and have worked at the home since 2017.


I lead a team of housekeepers and laundry assistants, to ensure the home maintains its high standards of cleanliness.
Having previously worked in finance and banking this was my first role in the care sector. I find this job so rewarding because of the interactions and friendships that I have built with the residents.
