Cumnor Hill House

My mother was admitted to Cumnor Hill House Care Home this month and is in a lovely garden room. We had concerns that she would find it difficult to adjust but she has settled in very well after a short time with help from the staff who have been very attentive and caring. The daily update email is a nice touch and keeps us informed as to what the menus are. The booking system for visiting is helpful especially during this problematic period for everyone.

My father has just returned home after spending two weeks respite at Cumnor Hill House. The staff were all incredible - not just to him but to us also. He made some lovely friends in the short time he was at the home and joined in the activities. He loved the group singing (next time less Vera and more Beatles) and loved the concert last Thursday. The home itself was beautiful - so clean. His room had access to the lovely gardens and he was able to drive his mobility scooter from his room to the garden with ease. The food was five-star and the drink chilled to perfection, absolutely no complaints!

Cumnor Hill House is predominantly a caring team. They are the friendliest, most welcoming, caring group of people I could imagine in charge of my mother's care. Without them, it might be just bricks and mortar - beautiful, safe, well designed, quiet. Mum has found new friends, kept busy, given space, made at home. Top marks Cumnor Hill House!

My aunt has complex care needs and came to the home unsettled some years ago. The staff could not have been more supportive in every aspect and she felt loved and cared for which has helped her settle. She has enjoyed all the activities and seemed to thrive (despite natural progression of her illness). Covid has been hard due to the isolation from family, restriction, general fears, illness, and staffing issues, however, the home lost no time in setting up video and telephone call bookings to ensure residents could chat to relatives remotely and my relative's general care has been excellent, the staff have continued to arrange indoor and garden activities to the best of their abilities and finally being able to receive visitors back in the home has been most welcome. Every member of staff knows my aunt and treat her like a member of a big friendly extended family. I am very grateful for her care. They've posted enviable food delicacies on Facebook too.

My father moved in last month and has settled in very well. I spoke with everyone I knew in the care profession and read reviews sites and the CQC reports. The clear winner in terms of care was Cumnor Hill House and I must admit so far, I cannot fault it. It will be lovely when we can spend move time in the home with my father with hopefully the covid restrictions easing!

I am the brother-in-law to your resident and both my wife have noticed an improvement in her condition since we last visited her last year. She is generally more aware and responsive and speaks very highly of your staff and the care and attention she receives. Many thanks.

My review is based on my experience of Cumnor Hill from Christmas 2017 when my cousin moved in, to March/April 2021 when ownership and senior management changed. The home is well run and the family and I have a strong belief that it will continue. During these very trying times of the pandemic, the virus has been well controlled and because of that control, our cousin has been very well looked after.

I want to thank the team at Cumnor for looking after Mum so sensitively and doing their best to enable humane visits during the pandemic. I am so grateful for the care and consideration shown to Mum, and us as visitors. Thank you Cumnor.

My father had rapid onset of complex needs and had a number of failed placements. When he arrived at Cumnor Hill House I very quickly grew a relationship of trust with the home. The home worked hard with outside professionals to make this placement work supporting a long list of care plans, they communicated transparently and welcomed all visits, family, friends and professionals. Cumnor Hill House works closely with the Oxfordshire Care Home support Service. My father always looks well-groomed and well cared for maintaining his dignity. All the above comments mean that my father has a calm, content and happy life with the expert help he needs. I and my family are very happy with the specialist care that my dad receives at Cumnor Hill House. The staff always appear professional and are very friendly. The environment is fresh, modern and spacy.

The trolley is a hugely valued service but the operator is not a registered employee. She is fully committed to the wider community and always willing to support areas within it that are short-staffed. She has run the service for many years and is a ray of sunshine throughout the development.

Cumnor Hill House is an amazing home, so welcoming and accomodating. My mum really enjoys living there and has settled in so well. She loves the garden and the activities that are provided. The care is fantastic and it gives us peace of mind that she is so well cared for.

I'm a Community First Responder and have been on emergency shouts to quite a few care homes locally but have not seen one to better Cumnor Hill in cleanliness and care.

Arranging for my mother to move into a care home was the hardest decision. However, from day one until she sadly died over a year later, all the staff made her welcome and welcomed us as a family. They became part of our extended family and people we and our mother trusted to care for her and keep her safe. They had a great rapport with my mother, which was so important as she couldn’t communicate. The staff genuinely care, it is not just a job to them. You can see this in the way they are around the residents, adapting their skills as peoples’ needs change. All staff get involved and take an interest regardless of their role. They went the extra mile to help us celebrate birthday and Christmas as a family and make memories. In her final week, they made sure she was cared for with dignity and respect and showed compassion to family members to enable us to say our goodbyes. We are so grateful to the staff for all the care and support they gave to both Mum and us as a family.

Dad's room looked out on the pretty gardens and there were all the facilities he needed for a relaxing stay. As for the food...amazing! We hoped that Dad would want to stay but for now he's decided to return home. He may well go back when he's ready.

I'd like to thank the brilliant work the staff are doing at Cumnor Hill House. I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I am for all their efforts in keeping my mother safe, well and happy in these very difficult times.

My parents have been at Cumnor Hill House for the last three years and I have been so impressed by the level of care they have received. The home is beautiful with lovely rooms, common areas and a lovely walking area outside with gardens. I have visited many times and the staff are always friendly and very caring to the residents. If I ever have a question or need additional information, the staff have been more than happy to speak with me. The atmosphere in the home is always cheerful and positive, you can definitely tell when you visit somewhere if the staff are happy where they work and Cumnor Hill House is one of those places. We have had complete peace of mind that our parents have been well cared for there. The medical care is exceptional with a lovely local doctor as well as the trained staff. The home offers lovely rooms for the residents, a wonderful selection of meals and activities where there is something for everyone. I highly recommend Cumnor Hill House.

My family joined me for a birthday meal at Fine Dining and it was delicious. We had soup or smoked salmon, roast chicken, fruit and cream and cheese and biscuits with coffee. Then came the big surprise! I was presented with a gluten free birthday cake by a thoughtful chef who is always aware of my dietary needs. This made the perfect ending to a truly memorable occasion.
