I visited my brother Thomas at least twice a week and found the staff were always the same cheerful caring people, which is lovely for the residents, particularly my brother, who was quite a fragile person, so it gave him a sense of security. The room he has d was beautiful with a double bed, desk, armchair and dining table and ensuite facilities. Being a private person he appreciated this greatly. Long may you continue to thrive.

My Mum has moved to Augustus Court after a stay in hospital. Mum has settled very quickly and enjoying a new lease of life.
We all find the staff friendly and approachable.
The rooms, both individual and shared areas, are always clean and well maintained. The bedrooms are a good size with lovely furniture, plenty of storage space and a mini drinks fridge.
There's a general welcoming homely feel with a lovely coffee room for visitors to enjoy refreshments and a chat in a comfortable environment a good alternative to sitting in the bedroom area.
There are well planned organised activities happening most days which residents are encouraged to join in but with no pressure.
The weekly visiting hairdresser is very good and there is a chiropodist visits regularly too.

Highly recommended

Throughout my mum's stay at Augustus Court, my mum received exceptional care by all the staff. One carer, Lisa, was exceptional. Lisa went above and beyond with her care, love and support. Nothing was too much trouble. In Mum's later days, Lisa supported all relatives of mum. Lisa is an exceptional carer.

My mother, resident at Augustus Court Care Home for almost 3 years, has recently been receiving end of life care, and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Their compassion and gentleness have been outstanding - not only in the way they care for mum, but also in the way they support our whole family. We have been welcomed to come and go freely, and the option to stay overnight has given us precious quality time together during this final stage of mum's life. We will be forever grateful for this.

Enjoyed the coffee morning very much- lovely cakes. Everyone was kind and talked to me. My wife's friend is a resident on the first floor, the staff very kindly brought her to the lounge and it was nice to see her again.

Always a pleasure to visit my friend on the first floor and to see how much better she looks since coming to live at Augustus Court. She always looks well turned out, as she looked when she was younger as she was very elegant. It is obvious from the way that she greets the carers that they are kind and loving towards her. Her room is neat, clean and spacious. It is reassuring and comforting to know that she is in such a safe, caring place.

My mum has been un Augustus Court for 2.5 years and she has always been very happy living there.
The majority of the staff are lovely and treat my mum with the care and respect that she deserves.
On occasions we have had some issues with poor procedures e.g. mums catheter bag not been emptied regularly and the lack of Out of Top 30 (Position) - All looks ok so set to PP and sent verification email.

personal hygiene e.g. lack of bathing. However, her care has been very good.

I call regularly to visit my aunt and on numerous occasions I have noticed the home smells sometimes and is very dusty and the windows are dirty and the chairs smell and my auntys room is dusty with cobwebs at high levels and skirting boards are dusty. Just makes the cleaners look lazy as its not deep cleaned.

Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Augustus Court Care Centre

I am sorry to hear that you feel your aunt's room is not to the cleanliness standards that we expect. The housekeeping team do complete regular deep cleans within the home and bedrooms, management also complete regular walk rounds and bedroom checks. We have recently just had all upholstery...

My mum is currently in for respite. She has mixed dementia but is very aware of everything. I have observed how she is treated and looked after. This is first-class. All the staff I have come into contact with care very deeply for all the residents. They go out of their way to ensure all their needs are catered for. My mum will definitely be returning. I am very happy with my mum's care.

My mum has lived at the care home for nearly 2 1/2 years. The carers always make sure mum's needs are met in a caring and respectful way. Her room is kept clean and tidy as is the rest of the home. The new activity leader is excellent and makes sure the residents do stimulating activities. My only criticism would be the head office speed of organising repairs. My mum's toilet broke and it took 2 weeks to repair and only after I had complained.

Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Augustus Court Care Centre

Thank you for your review regarding our home, and the positive comments. I apologise regarding the repair of the toilet which I now understand has been resolved and we will work to respond more promptly going forwards.

The staff try hard to look after the residents in a caring way. Sometimes when there is a shortage of staff it can be difficult for them to cover patients needs quickly. The new activities worker has lots of passion and enthusiasm to make each day has stimulating events for all. She is also keen to raise funds for more activities.

Pleased with the way my mother in law is being looked after. The appointment of the new entertainment representative has made is making a real difference. She has some really good ideas but will need some financial support to carry some of them out!
