Reviews

9.3 Glastonbury Court has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.254)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Glastonbury Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Glastonbury Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.837 for Glastonbury Court is calculated as follows: ( (141 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.837

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.417 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glastonbury Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 12 Target = 0.417

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Although we did not know it my husband was very close to death when he came to Glastonbury Court and indeed he died two months later, from beginning to end he was treated with great kindness. His dignity was always guarded, and we were always made to feel welcome. His nursing care was excellent, and our business needs were met with much patience and understanding. That part was very important as absorbing a great deal of information at a time of enormous stress is not easy. I have no hesitation in recommending this Care home.

Following on from a fall and second fractured hip, I needed some breathing space to get my mother back to some semblance of her former self and to regain her former confidence. To this end, I organised a period of respite care at Glastonbury Court, Bury St Edmunds.

The transition from NHS care to care in Glastonbury Court was seamless. My mother was made to feel immediately welcome and at home by both staff and residents. Her room was always clean and was light and airy. Meals were well balanced and very appetising. The team at Glastonbury Court, from management, carers to cooks, (sorry chefs) were fantastic. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My stepmother was deteriorating at home with dementia and had a fall, was hospitalised and then needed residential care. From the first contact with Glastonbury Court, we were very impressed with the staff and facilities. The home offered all the care and thoughtfulness we were looking for and more that we hadn't even considered. It was always welcoming well staff with knowledgeable and attentive nursing care. Our stepmother chose not to eat properly and so deteriorated quickly but she could not have been looked after in a more caring way.

My mother was at Glastonbury Court for 14 months before she passed away. I was very happy with the care and support she received, particularly in the last few weeks before her death. The carers were very helpful and caring and made sure she was treated well and gave her as much dignity as possible. I never saw her distressed or worried. Any problem the care home felt she had, were always discussed with me and/or my father. The only downside with the care home was that I often felt there were not enough carers on duty to deal with everyone's needs and occasionally younger less experienced carers were left in charge.

Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Glastonbury Court responded to this review on 10 May 2017:

Thank you very much for your feedback. We’re grateful for your comments and positive scores around the facilities, activities and safety of the home, as well as your comments regarding the level of care your mother received at Glastonbury Court. We are pleased that you found the carers helpful and caring, and that they kept you informed. With regards to staffing levels, I would like to assure you that we do a full dependency analysis for each resident which is used to plan the care team, in order to ensure that care is safe and appropriate for residents’ needs at all times. However, we do take your concerns seriously and will pass your comments to the home manager.

My mum was transferred from a residential home in Rutland four months before she passed away. The family had not been happy with her care for some time and managed to have her transferred to be nearer to my other siblings. She settled in immediately, had been in the home in Rutland for 4 years with Alzheimer's. The staff at Glastonbury were excellent, she always looked clean, well fed and content.

We were all pleased with the excellent care my father received at Glastonbury Court a brand new home in Bury St Edmonds. The building was well designed and had excellent facilities. More importantly, the care provided by all the staff was superb. They all treated my elderly father with great care, compassion and friendliness. Their concern for his well-being was impressive and obviously genuine. He could not have spent his final days in better hands. Thank you very much!

The daycare manager took the trouble to find out what my husband's interests were and they were prepared on his first day with relevant activities. She always greets my husband with a warm smile and appears to enjoy her work which then reflects on his enjoyment of his visits. Other staff I have met are equally warm and welcoming.

My husband has been here since the 8th of August 2016. Very pleased with the care home. He seems to be much more relaxed, as a family we are glad this move has happene, to be back in Bury where he lived. I am only 5 minutes from the care home, whereas before we had to travel 25 miles to the other care home.

My husband has been to Glastonbury Court three times for respite. He is very happy there and although he would rather be at home of course he is very happy to go there. The staff are lovely, they are patient, thoughtful and kind. He has no speech which makes life difficult until one is used to him. Management at the home are excellent and they go the extra mile to make staying there as much a 'home from home' as it is possible.

Since my aunt has been here she has been much better in herself. The help she has received has helped her tremendously, like playing the piano which there was no room in her flat. Me and my family feel she has a better quality of life. All the staff are kind and helpful. I am so pleased we chose this place, best care home I have seen.

Mother in law was taken in for respite care as an emergency admission for which I was very grateful. I cannot fault the home in any respect and was really pleased with the service given. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to friends and family.

As a family we chose Glastonbury court as my Great Nan (my aunts mother) was a resident in her final years. I have been very impressed not only with the new build but the amazing staff. I love the way all the staff interact with the residents and clearly all enjoy their work. I'm very pleased that in a very short space of time my aunt regards Glastonbury Court as her home. Thank You to all the staff for your help and support.

My mother has transferred to Glastonbury Court from another care home in this town. She has improved a great deal in just one month as she is now being brought to the lounge in the home and encouraged to interact with staff and other residents. The home is exceptionally clean and facilities are absolutely what my mum needs as she now has fairly advanced dementia. Every consideration is given to my mum and also to my dad who visits regularly. It is a perfect home from home.

Glastonbury Court has recently re-opened in a new, fresh modern building built with the needs of the residents in mind. With large, spacious communal areas for dining. Activities and daily living. It provides excellent care with dedicated staff from the top downwards. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the team. Most importantly to me my mum is treated as her own person despite having sever Alzheimer's Disease and unable to live an independent life.
