Staff are very helpful and kind, helping Mum to settle in, and keep safe. Plenty of activities for Mum to be involved in, and very prompt and sensible attention when she was unwell. Mum likes the meals and says she has friends there, which has helped her settle too. For me, staff are very helpful and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. Very pleased.

The staff are always pleasant and demonstrate a very caring and comfortable environment. The one-to-one care is exceptional - and it is a real comfort to know my friend is so well looked after - she also is calm and relaxed when the carer is attending.

I count myself extremely fortunate to have been able to have my wife accepted as a resident in The Lindsay Care Home. The care she is receiving is exemplary, and it is a great comfort to know that she is safe and superbly looked after. I spend some five hours every day at the home, giving me ample opportunities to assess the attitude and professionalism of the staff. They are magnificent in every respect, from the cleaners and the kitchen staff to the nurses and activities personnel to the management team.

Mum spent five months at The Lindsay Care Home, and after the first two weeks, she felt at home. The food was lovely, the room was comfy, staff very friendly. Everyone was very supportive of Mum's English as an additional language and no mobility. All her personal needs were met daily. Thank you so much for all the special moments including Blue Monday Disco, Valentine's Day cake, Women's Day flowers and birthday cake, cards and flowers just a week before she passed away. It was so special for Mum and for us. Thank you.

The staff are very friendly I was very pleased with the room which is ensuite and has everything he needs. We enjoy our meals in the restaurant where they are very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. One of the ladies is a credit to the team. Not only does she help in the restaurant but does many other things including hairdressing. All these things make such a difference.

My mother lived at The Lindsay Care Home from September 2022 until her death on 30/11/2023. Mum felt very welcome, comfortable and happy from the moment we entered the building - she never looked back. She loved all the activities, made friends and found the staff excellent and caring. As her daughter, living in the Midlands, I was anxious as I couldn't check in on her every week. Although there were some lapses in care on some weekends, staff were very responsive, it was usually due to a lack of staff /staff illness. Overall I would highly recommend it, and the home organised a wonderful wake for her - above and beyond what we expected. My sister and I are very grateful.

My father was getting lonely at home so we suggested a 'holiday respite' stay. I live nearby. After a pre-stay visit, a two-week stay was booked. He had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back for another stay. He especially enjoyed the food as he can be quite fussy. He couldn't thank the staff enough. They were wonderful and even managed to get him to join in activities.

I was diagnosed with Motor neurone disease in February and deteriorated very quickly. My spirit was low, and my desire to live was non-existent. Being referred to The Lindsay Care Home from the hospital is the best thing that could have happened to me! I have been blessed with very willing and competent staff to attend to my medical and personal care needs. The food here is very good, and the chefs are always willing to accommodate culinary variation at the drop of a hat. Spiritually and psychologically, I am also blessed with participating in the structure of the daily activities. The management team have been very supportive and forthcoming with organising external activities that I have wanted to achieve. As much as my physical abilities have deteriorated, I have been supported to maintain independence at meal times. Most importantly as I am spending the final chapter of my life here, I have been blessed to have fun and laughter created with all the staff!

The staff are always very friendly and cannot do enough to support the service user and the service users visiting family and friends, whilst always presenting and maintaining professionalism.
The facilities e.g. bedrooms, and general surroundings are first class. Great care is given at mealtimes to ensure that the service user has a choice of food. What is important is that the food is able to be seen first and not chosen from a menu the day before.

Having managed in my professional life establishments such as The Lindsay and looking at places to place our sister, I have not found anything that comes anywhere near The Lindsay for overall caring and support. I cannot say how pleased I am at finding The Lindsay.

Mum has been at Lindsay Care Home for just over a month. Since arriving here the change in her happiness and health has been amazing. The staff are wonderful and Mum sees them as her extended family. She joins in all the activities and it's great to see her laughing again. Mum has suffered badly with her feet as previously she didn't have the medical care and was always in terrible pain, but she s so much better now. Many thanks.

Ian Dunthorne
Ian DunthorneJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2024

My name is Ian and I joined The Lindsay as home manager in December 2024.

I live locally to the home although I am from Bedfordshire originally.

My mother was a home carer for the local authority and then a warden controlled village, which first introduced me to the world of elderly care. I then worked as a care assistant for the local authority myself and became interested in rehabilitation aspects of geriatric care and this led me to train as a physiotherapist. I made a departure from clinical physiotherapy and returned to geriatric residential care management.

I worked as a home manager for Bupa for 7 years before moving to New Zealand and subsequently worked as a general manager for Bupa New Zealand for 11 years. As I got older, I felt the pull to return to my home country and moved back to the UK towards the end of 2024.

My passion is travel. I have been lucky enough to travel widely around the world and this is the basis for most of my interests and passions outside of work.

Olivia Ciuraru
Olivia CiuraruJob Title:Clinical Deputy ManagerJoined: 2018

I joined Bupa in February 2018 and have been working as the clinical deputy manager at The Lindsay since May 2025.

During my time with Bupa, I’ve gained experience in several roles, including RGN, unit manager, clinical services manager, home manager and area support manager. Each position has helped shape my approach to leadership and strengthened my passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

I moved to the UK from Romania in 2015, and from the very beginning, I felt drawn to supporting older people. Working in the care sector has allowed me to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with residents and their families. I truly value being part of an environment where compassion, dignity and trust are at the heart of everyday life.

What I enjoy most about my role is making a positive difference to residents’ wellbeing, whether through clinical support, reassurance, or simply being there for them. I also take great pride in supporting and developing our nursing and care teams. Helping colleagues grow, feel confident and work together to deliver exceptional care is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

I live locally to the home, just a five-minute drive in the morning when there’s no traffic. I have two amazing boys—well, three, including my husband! We don’t have any grandparents here to help with the children, so balancing personal life can be challenging as one of us is usually at work, but we always manage. I have two brothers: one lives and works in the UK, so we see him often, and he is the godfather of my little Theodor, who is three. My other brother works in the Navy and lives in Romania. My mum works in Italy, and my dad is retired and living in Romania.

My passions, interests and hobbies… I love reading, running, gardening, cooking, cleaning and going for walks with my family. In my spare time—which doesn’t really exist, as I’m addicted to work and find it hard to disconnect—I enjoy keeping busy and active,

These roles helped shape her strong leadership, organisation and people skills, which she now applies to delivering excellent care experiences.

After 15 years of working in a salon, a client who worked in the care home sector asked if I knew anyone who would like to work in a care home. After some thought, I said 'Yes, me!'. I like to make a difference and I feel the care home sector makes a massive difference. It is team-based and is a journey for staff, relatives and residents.

I love it when friends and relatives come in and see their loved ones looking fresh and happy.

I particularly enjoy caring for people and making them feel as happy as I can. I enjoy the interaction with residents and their families as well as doing administrative work.

I live locally with my English Pointer dog and two cats. My daughter is local so I see a lot of her. My son lives near Southampton and also has a Pointer.

I love to see friends and family and I enjoy walking, gardening, holidays and the beach.

Amy Bowerman
Amy BowermanJob Title:Financial AdministratorJoined: 2022

I have worked for Bupa since 2022, initially as a receptionist and more recently as a financial administrator.

Before joining Bupa, I was working in retail and the hotel industry, where I developed strong customer service skills, resilience and the ability to work well under pressure. Through these roles, I discovered that the most rewarding part of my work was supporting people and making a positive difference in their day. This led me to transition into the care sector, where I could apply my interpersonal skills in a more meaningful way, providing compassionate and person-centred support and building trusting relationships.

I enjoy working within care because it allows me to make a difference in people’s lives. Supporting individuals with compassion, dignity and respect and helping them maintain independence and quality of life is both meaningful and rewarding for me.

Outside of work, I am a parent, which is a whole other job on its own. I have two beautiful children aged 11 and 7, they keep me very busy most of the time so when I do get some time I enjoy being creative and exploring creative outlets such as art.
