The Lindsay is a care home offering nursing, residential, dementia and palliative care.

Short stays and day care are offered to help both carers and their elderly loved ones at times when they need a break or a little extra support.

Rated 'Good' by the CQC (August 2025), The Lindsay is situated a few minutes from the centre of Westbourne and all its amenities – shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The home has a cinema and café as well as lounges, a library and private dining areas for family and friends to come and enjoy when visiting their loved ones or celebrating a birthday or anniversary together.

This is my first time ever in a care home and I felt safe and well looked after during a period of necessary respite following a back operation. I found the team there engaging and easy to be around and the facilities for myself and my visitors excellent.

My nan had stayed in various care homes so when I was looking for a place for respite care for my step-mum I knew exactly what I was looking for and I've found it at The Lindsay. Each person staying there is treated with dignity and respect. All staff are caring and supportive. In September my mum stayed
for 3 weeks and was sad to leave everyone, although she loves her own home. This was her second visit/stay and all the staff welcomed her back with open arms! The home is much more like a hotel than a care home, with superb facilities such as the hair salon. cafe and restaurant.

From the point of arrival, my mother was made to feel very welcome. From various telephone conversations with her, she told me that she was kept active with various activities offered by The Lindsay Care Home. She treated it as a 'holiday' this was treated as a trial run, but by the end of three weeks,
she wanted to go home. However, since returning, she has said that when she is ready for her next 'holiday' she will advise me she enjoyed herself and I have no doubt she will want to return soon.

My husband attends The Lindsay as a day care resident a few times a month. It gives me a few hours relief as we have no family members who can share some of the care responsibilities. Very friendly and helpful staff from management to reception and housekeeping. Very impressed with the clean and busy
atmosphere in reception, particularly the aroma from the coffee area. Very informal atmosphere and I've always found it easy to have my questions answered, either by a member of staff present or by telephone/email. Good location too - easily accessible on bus routes.

Spent 3 weeks here recently, after hip replacement surgery at a hospital. Quite recently built the facility, well designed. Excellent staff - welcoming, helpful and sympathetic. Spotlessly clean throughout. Excellent laundry same day service. Hairdressing facility.

After caring for my wife for 12 years I was very unhappy about placing her in a care home when the industry is getting such bad reports but my fears were unfounded. My wife is at the advanced stages of Lewy Bodies Dementia but she has settled happily at The Lindsay. The staff are kindness itself and
they give loving care to her and the other residents. The activities organised are enjoyed by her as is the food which seems excellent. The rooms are warm and comfortable in the colder weather but cool on the hot days when fans are used to supplement the fresh air from open windows. All in all an excellent care home.

My wife was discharged from hospital on 4th June 2018 and we transferred her into The Lindsay as she needed care 24/7 and that had proved difficult before her hospital admission.
We found the staff there to be friendly and caring from day 1 and we were happy to leave her in their care. I visited every
day and often left around 8.00 o'clock in the evening so was able to assess the night staff as well and they are equally as good as those on daytime duty.
Happy to recommend The Lindsay to anyone else.

The carers and nurses are all very compassionate about their job. The care they give my father is excellent but I do find some of the management are not approachable and management in this environment should be more welcoming when you walk through the door.

As a 90-year-old man with mobility problems, I have to say that The Lindsay Care Home served my needs admirably. The staff from the manager to the rest of the staff display high professional standards in carrying out their work and they are very kind and considerate. Glad to say I still like the food
and the food here is very enjoyable. The home has a delightful garden and I sometimes sit there for a while when the weather is fine and soak up the sun for a while. Sometimes participate in activities such as singing and quizzes and the social aspects is welcome. I particularly enjoyed the celebration of the royal wedding and St George's day laid on by the home.


In retrospect, I believe I made the best decision possible when I chose to stay at The Lindsay Care Home because of the kindness, consideration and the excellent care I receive here.

After my Husband had been in hospital for two months he was accepted into The Lindsay and treated with care, kindness and understanding. The staff were patient, friendly and respectful as he was also depressed, he was cared for with kindness. He was immobile - but now with lots of patience, he has made

The home is always clean and has a warm, friendly and supportive feel. The staff are kind and infinitely patient no matter what behaviours the service users exhibit. They have been wonderfully supportive to me personally and there is always a listening ear, reassuring comment or even a hug when things
are tough.
Comments from family/service users are taken on board at regular meetings and where necessary, action is taken promptly.
The coffee shop with free coffee, cake and fruit for family, visitors and service users provides a very welcome space for chatting or just sitting quietly.
The food is of excellent quality which can be so important to anyone who has fewer pleasures due to health or mobility issues. Great efforts are taken to provide exceptionally well-organised celebrations and social opportunities throughout the year. I consider us very lucky to have found the Lindsay and for over a year now have benefitted from their experience and expertise.

My mother's mental condition began to deteriorate to the point where she was reluctant to socialise with friends or neighbours. She became confused and very unhappy. Her family persuaded her to have a short stay in a care home to see how she would enjoy it. She made many friends both with residents
and staff and enjoyed the activities and social life she had previously lacked. Her appetite improved with the excellent food on offer and her family are delighted to see her enjoying life again.

We were extremely worried when we had to make the decision that Mum could no longer live in her own at home. She had always been extremely independent. However, almost since the first week, she has seemed settled, happy and much brighter. She has made friends. Joins in activities and has put on weight.
The staff are wonderful and we could not have found anywhere better. We know Mum is safe and well looked after.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

My name is Ian and I joined The Lindsay as home manager in December 2024.


I live locally to the home although I am from Bedfordshire originally.


My mother was a home carer for the local authority and then a warden controlled village, which first introduced me to the world of elderly care. I then worked as a care assistant for the local authority myself and became interested in rehabilitation aspects of geriatric care and this led me to train as a physiotherapist. I made a departure from clinical physiotherapy and returned to geriatric residential care management.


I worked as a home manager for Bupa for 7 years before moving to New Zealand and subsequently worked as a general manager for Bupa New Zealand for 11 years. As I got older, I felt the pull to return to my home country and moved back to the UK towards the end of 2024.


My passion is travel. I have been lucky enough to travel widely around the world and this is the basis for most of my interests and passions outside of work.

I first joined BUPA in June 2024. I have previously worked within activities and for the last 19 years have been a Care Home Manager. I have a passion for caring for others, specifically for caring for those with dementia. I am a dementia care trainer and also a Dementia Friends Ambassador! Outside of work I enjoy to spend time with my four children and 3 grandchildren. In my spare time I can be found taking my dogs for walks, supporting Norwich City or singing in my choir!

After 15 years of working in a salon, a client who worked in the care home sector asked if I knew anyone who would like to work in a care home. After some thought, I said 'Yes, me!'. I like to make a difference and I feel the care home sector makes a massive difference. It is team-based and is a journey for staff, relatives and residents.


I love it when friends and relatives come in and see their loved ones looking fresh and happy.


Life is about family, making memories and remembering life is short. Outside of work, I love to spend time with my children and walking my dogs.

I have worked in care for a long period and joined Bupa in 2016, initially as a healthcare assistant and then more latterly as an activities coordinator.


I enjoy meeting people and really enjoy my current job role.


Outside of work, I have two adult children and six grandchildren.

I joined The Lindsay as a receptionist in the summer of 2023.


Earlier on in my career, I worked as a TV studio administrator producing motivational and corporate videos. After I had my children, I returned to work as a teaching assistant followed by temporary roles as a receptionist.


I particularly enjoy caring for people and making them feel as happy as I can. I enjoy the interaction with residents and their families as well as doing administrative work.


I live locally with my English Pointer dog and two cats. My daughter is local so I see a lot of her. My son lives near Southampton and also has a Pointer.


I love to see friends and family and I enjoy walking, gardening, holidays and the beach.
