I found the staff to be very warm and welcoming. Everyone spoke to you in passing and seemed very caring.
Rooms were very clean and spacious, very warm but that's understandable. Mum was only on short term respite but I felt all her needs were met and she has enjoyed her stay which allows us to enjoy our holiday.

Knowing she was in a safe environment and being looked after.

The home is welcoming and friendly and if there is an issue it is promptly dealt with. My mother has been treated very much as an individual. Her medical needs have been well treated and I can see a marked improvement in her wellbeing since entering the home in November 2017.

She enjoys her social life in the home and takes part in arranged in-house and outside activities. Generally, it is a well run home and a pleasure to visit.

This is my first time ever in a care home and I felt safe and well looked after during a period of necessary respite following a back operation. I found the team there engaging and easy to be around and the facilities for myself and my visitors excellent.

My nan had stayed in various care homes so when I was looking for a place for respite care for my step-mum I knew exactly what I was looking for and I've found it at The Lindsay. Each person staying there is treated with dignity and respect. All staff are caring and supportive. In September my mum stayed for 3 weeks and was sad to leave everyone, although she loves her own home. This was her second visit/stay and all the staff welcomed her back with open arms! The home is much more like a hotel than a care home, with superb facilities such as the hair salon. cafe and restaurant.

From the point of arrival, my mother was made to feel very welcome. From various telephone conversations with her, she told me that she was kept active with various activities offered by The Lindsay Care Home. She treated it as a 'holiday' this was treated as a trial run, but by the end of three weeks, she wanted to go home. However, since returning, she has said that when she is ready for her next 'holiday' she will advise me she enjoyed herself and I have no doubt she will want to return soon.

My husband attends The Lindsay as a day care resident a few times a month. It gives me a few hours relief as we have no family members who can share some of the care responsibilities. Very friendly and helpful staff from management to reception and housekeeping. Very impressed with the clean and busy atmosphere in reception, particularly the aroma from the coffee area. Very informal atmosphere and I've always found it easy to have my questions answered, either by a member of staff present or by telephone/email. Good location too - easily accessible on bus routes.

After caring for my wife for 12 years I was very unhappy about placing her in a care home when the industry is getting such bad reports but my fears were unfounded. My wife is at the advanced stages of Lewy Bodies Dementia but she has settled happily at The Lindsay. The staff are kindness itself and they give loving care to her and the other residents. The activities organised are enjoyed by her as is the food which seems excellent. The rooms are warm and comfortable in the colder weather but cool on the hot days when fans are used to supplement the fresh air from open windows. All in all an excellent care home.

My wife was discharged from hospital on 4th June 2018 and we transferred her into The Lindsay as she needed care 24/7 and that had proved difficult before her hospital admission.
We found the staff there to be friendly and caring from day 1 and we were happy to leave her in their care. I visited every day and often left around 8.00 o'clock in the evening so was able to assess the night staff as well and they are equally as good as those on daytime duty.

Happy to recommend The Lindsay to anyone else.

The carers and nurses are all very compassionate about their job. The care they give my father is excellent but I do find some of the management are not approachable and management in this environment should be more welcoming when you walk through the door.

As a 90-year-old man with mobility problems, I have to say that The Lindsay Care Home served my needs admirably. The staff from the manager to the rest of the staff display high professional standards in carrying out their work and they are very kind and considerate. Glad to say I still like the food and the food here is very enjoyable. The home has a delightful garden and I sometimes sit there for a while when the weather is fine and soak up the sun for a while. Sometimes participate in activities such as singing and quizzes and the social aspects is welcome. I particularly enjoyed the celebration of the royal wedding and St George's day laid on by the home.

In retrospect, I believe I made the best decision possible when I chose to stay at The Lindsay Care Home because of the kindness, consideration and the excellent care I receive here.

After my Husband had been in hospital for two months he was accepted into The Lindsay and treated with care, kindness and understanding. The staff were patient, friendly and respectful as he was also depressed, he was cared for with kindness. He was immobile - but now with lots of patience, he has made lots of improvement. He's looking to a future now.

The home is always clean and has a warm, friendly and supportive feel. The staff are kind and infinitely patient no matter what behaviours the service users exhibit. They have been wonderfully supportive to me personally and there is always a listening ear, reassuring comment or even a hug when things are tough.
Comments from family/service users are taken on board at regular meetings and where necessary, action is taken promptly.
The coffee shop with free coffee, cake and fruit for family, visitors and service users provides a very welcome space for chatting or just sitting quietly.

The food is of excellent quality which can be so important to anyone who has fewer pleasures due to health or mobility issues. Great efforts are taken to provide exceptionally well-organised celebrations and social opportunities throughout the year. I consider us very lucky to have found the Lindsay and for over a year now have benefitted from their experience and expertise.

My father has been a resident at The Lindsay for 4 months now and I am very comfortable and at ease with his care. The whole Lindsay team are excellent with the role they provide and everyone has the time to give that little bit of individual attention. The carer said to my dad the other day "and I made you smile" and his reply was "and that's the best medicine".

Ian Dunthorne
Ian DunthorneJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2024

My name is Ian and I joined The Lindsay as home manager in December 2024.

I live locally to the home although I am from Bedfordshire originally.

My mother was a home carer for the local authority and then a warden controlled village, which first introduced me to the world of elderly care. I then worked as a care assistant for the local authority myself and became interested in rehabilitation aspects of geriatric care and this led me to train as a physiotherapist. I made a departure from clinical physiotherapy and returned to geriatric residential care management.

I worked as a home manager for Bupa for 7 years before moving to New Zealand and subsequently worked as a general manager for Bupa New Zealand for 11 years. As I got older, I felt the pull to return to my home country and moved back to the UK towards the end of 2024.

My passion is travel. I have been lucky enough to travel widely around the world and this is the basis for most of my interests and passions outside of work.

Olivia Ciuraru
Olivia CiuraruJob Title:Clinical Deputy ManagerJoined: 2018

I joined Bupa in February 2018 and have been working as the clinical deputy manager at The Lindsay since May 2025.

During my time with Bupa, I’ve gained experience in several roles, including RGN, unit manager, clinical services manager, home manager and area support manager. Each position has helped shape my approach to leadership and strengthened my passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

I moved to the UK from Romania in 2015, and from the very beginning, I felt drawn to supporting older people. Working in the care sector has allowed me to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with residents and their families. I truly value being part of an environment where compassion, dignity and trust are at the heart of everyday life.

What I enjoy most about my role is making a positive difference to residents’ wellbeing, whether through clinical support, reassurance, or simply being there for them. I also take great pride in supporting and developing our nursing and care teams. Helping colleagues grow, feel confident and work together to deliver exceptional care is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

I live locally to the home, just a five-minute drive in the morning when there’s no traffic. I have two amazing boys—well, three, including my husband! We don’t have any grandparents here to help with the children, so balancing personal life can be challenging as one of us is usually at work, but we always manage. I have two brothers: one lives and works in the UK, so we see him often, and he is the godfather of my little Theodor, who is three. My other brother works in the Navy and lives in Romania. My mum works in Italy, and my dad is retired and living in Romania.

My passions, interests and hobbies… I love reading, running, gardening, cooking, cleaning and going for walks with my family. In my spare time—which doesn’t really exist, as I’m addicted to work and find it hard to disconnect—I enjoy keeping busy and active,

She is passionate about creating a warm and welcoming environment and ensuring residents enjoy meaningful, person-centred activities tailored to their individual interests and abilities.

She brings a diverse professional background, having previously worked as a Cabin Service Director with British Airways, in education, and within central Government at Whitehall. These roles helped shape her strong leadership, organisation and people skills, which she now applies to delivering excellent care experiences.

Outside of work, Susannah enjoys spending time with her family, staying active through tennis, golf and sea swimming, and expressing her creativity through sculpting and cooking.

After 15 years of working in a salon, a client who worked in the care home sector asked if I knew anyone who would like to work in a care home. After some thought, I said 'Yes, me!'. I like to make a difference and I feel the care home sector makes a massive difference. It is team-based and is a journey for staff, relatives and residents.

I love it when friends and relatives come in and see their loved ones looking fresh and happy.

Life is about family, making memories and remembering life is short. Outside of work, I love to spend time with my children and walking my dogs.

I joined The Lindsay as a receptionist in the summer of 2023.

Earlier on in my career, I worked as a TV studio administrator producing motivational and corporate videos. After I had my children, I returned to work as a teaching assistant followed by temporary roles as a receptionist.

I particularly enjoy caring for people and making them feel as happy as I can. I enjoy the interaction with residents and their families as well as doing administrative work.

I live locally with my English Pointer dog and two cats. My daughter is local so I see a lot of her. My son lives near Southampton and also has a Pointer.

I love to see friends and family and I enjoy walking, gardening, holidays and the beach.

Amy Bowerman
Amy BowermanJob Title:Financial AdministratorJoined: 2022

I have worked for Bupa since 2022, initially as a receptionist and more recently as a financial administrator.

Before joining Bupa, I was working in retail and the hotel industry, where I developed strong customer service skills, resilience and the ability to work well under pressure. Through these roles, I discovered that the most rewarding part of my work was supporting people and making a positive difference in their day. This led me to transition into the care sector, where I could apply my interpersonal skills in a more meaningful way, providing compassionate and person-centred support and building trusting relationships.

I enjoy working within care because it allows me to make a difference in people’s lives. Supporting individuals with compassion, dignity and respect and helping them maintain independence and quality of life is both meaningful and rewarding for me.

Outside of work, I am a parent, which is a whole other job on its own. I have two beautiful children aged 11 and 7, they keep me very busy most of the time so when I do get some time I enjoy being creative and exploring creative outlets such as art.
