We’re delighted to welcome Alexandra (Alex) Borobeica as the new Home Manager at Cuffley Manor Care Home.
Alex brings with her a wealth of experience across the health and social care sector. Her career has taken her across Europe, supporting vulnerable adults in Germany, Austria, Italy and Portugal, before making England her home in 2014.
Having grown from Health Care Assistant to Deputy Manager and now Home Manager, Alex is deeply committed to compassionate, person-centred care and positive, values-led leadership. She holds a Level 5 Diploma and a BSc in Health and Social Care and is currently studying for a Master’s in International Business Management.
Alex’s leadership is grounded in kindness, empathy and inclusion. Her favourite quote by Eleanor Roosevelt says it all: “To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.”
Alex’s aspiration is creating a place of safety, dignity and care – a true home for our residents.
Prior to moving to the UK, I was a Registered Nurse (RN) working as a staff nurse for three years in an Emergency Care Unit, in New Delhi, India.
I came to the UK in 2008, initially to study for an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, as part of understanding both the social and medical care provided in the UK.
I was fortunate to be able to work for Care Homes, initially as a Senior Care Assistant. As I developed my skills, knowledge, and exposure to the care home environment, I was promoted to Team Leader, then an opportunity became available to become an Assistant Manager in 2016.
I joined the TLC group as a Care Service Manager at Cuffley Manor in May 2021 and I am loving the family atmosphere here. I am very passionate about care and people, and I strive to ensure that our residents are receiving outstanding person-centred care in a safe homely environment.
With over a decade of experience in the health and social care sector, I have spent the past year proudly serving with TLC, specialising in residential and dementia care. From a young age, I’ve been deeply passionate about supporting our senior population and have dedicated my career to ensuring the highest standards of care and wellbeing for those we serve.
As your first point of contact for admission-related enquiries, I look forward to guiding you through the process and helping you find the most suitable care solutions for you or your loved one.
Ann has worked for many years in the hotel industry, working for a number of reputable global hotel companies such as Hilton, Marriot and Shangri-La. In recent years, Ann has found herself in the States working for hotels in California.
Academically speaking, Ann is a distinguished member of our team achieving a BSc in 'Hotel Restaurant Management' - something that she uses every day in her role at Cuffley Manor. In 2025, Ann took a big leap of faith when she moved back across the Atlantic to join the TLC Group as Hotel Services Manager in Cuffley Manor and has since settled into the UK.
Ann, is excited, driven and passionate about making residents and families feel heard and she is always looking to improve the vistor, dining and resident's experience of all those who come into Cuffley Manor.
My journey as a Chef began in 2005 when I started working as a Chef Assistant in a care home.
I gradually learnt my trade as the years went on and have also worked in numerous places, including restaurants and hospitals.
I started working with TLC in January 2024 as a chef, and in March 2024, I became the head chef at Cuffley Manor.
I am good at conveying my feelings through my food. To find happiness in cooking is an art, and that gives me the passion and encouragement to inspire other people to become the best at their craft they can be.
I have worked in the care sector for over 40 years having started work as an activities coordinator in my home country of Scotland. I then started my career as a care assistant and senior carer in hospitals and care homes.
I took a career break when I had my twins and studied for the Higher Social Care Programme in Edinburgh as a mature student. It was here I was diagnosed with Dyslexia and took part in a programme for those over 40 in education. Ten years ago, I moved to England as a team leader and progressed to Care Services Manager and then home manager.
I joined TLC Care in 2017 as Regional Support Manager before progressing to Learning and Development Coach, and now, I am in a role I have a great passion for at Cuffley Manor.
I joined Cuffley Manor in June 2016 when it first opened, with new residents joining. I was able to offer care and housekeeping. This was so important for me to learn and understand, and today I can say I am very proud of my home, as this gives me so much joy and satisfaction seeing our family grow at Cuffley Manor.
Seeing residents’ smiles, taking time to sit and talk with them, sometimes, little things are like milestones, seemingly insignificant, but with a huge impact. That’s what working at Cuffley Manor is for me.
In my spare time, I like reading fantasy books, travelling and spending time with my family. I like to learn new skills and always carry a beautiful smile.
I came to the UK to pursue my master's. I started working for TLC as a part-time care assistant in 2021. Though I had never worked in the field of care before, my experience at TLC has piqued my curiosity in it. I was formerly employed in Cherry Hinton, but due to commuting issues, I was transferred to Cuffley Manor. I grew close to the Cuffley people, and I eagerly anticipated working alongside my colleagues each day.
My academics required me to participate in an internship program. I received an offer from TLC to work as an administrator and financial assistant for a year at the Carlton Court Care Home. I was given fresh opportunities for learning and growth while I was at Carlton. I would say that Carlton changed the course of my financial career. I was now offered the amazing chance to return to Cuffley Manor in the capacity of Manager of Finance and HR.
