After a period in hospital, our mother in her 80's decided to spend a period of recuperation and respite in Cuffley Manor with a view to deciding where she wanted to be in the future. After leaving hospital in a very depressed state, the change in her after a week at Cuffley Manor was incredible, a
complete 100% improvement in her confidence and well being and we were eternally grateful to all the staff both administration and nursing who had brought this about. At the end of her stay, my mother had the choice of remaining where she was or returning to her own assisted care facilities and for the time being she decided that she would return home only in the safe assurance that if she decided that this was no longer suitable for her, she would be warmly welcomed back to Cuffley Manor whenever she wished to return in the future. Our family have nothing but the highest of praise for everyone at Cuffley Manor for everything they have done for her.
Reply from Vicky Bahmed, Manager at Cuffley ManorThank you for your kind words. It was an absolute pleasure looking after your mother and we would very much welcome her back whenever she wishes to return.

My Mother-in-Law suffers from dementia, and the care and attention that she receives at Cuffley Manor is exemplary. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone whose relatives are dementia sufferers.

Cuffley Manor is well designed, fresh and attractively functional.
It reflects the best of a modern purpose built care home and is well maintained.
The staff are very friendly and attentive and take care of mum's needs unhesitatingly.
Mum does not want to be here and gets bored as she does not take
full advantage of what is offered.
She does, in lighter moments, accept she is well cared for, and although she would not admit it, knows she needs the support.
Cuffley Manor is an expensive care home option which I know puts others off considerably.

My mum is happy and well cared for, there is currently an unresolved issue with one new resident who is disruptive, aggressive and destabilising the community on that floor. I am waiting to hear how management are dealing with this.

My mother only moved in at the end of November after my father passed away. The manor is beautifully furnished and my mum is still adjusting to being there, but she is safe, which gives me peace of mind. Every single member of staff is polite and efficient. I love the way the staff always knock before
entering the resident's private space!
The lounges are lovely, not at all 'old people home' no chairs all around the edge of the room. It's a quality 'care' home for people that need a bit of help or supervision. I am very happy with the care my mum is getting and I hope Cuffley Manor will be her forever home. The food is excellent and all freshly cooked, and the place is spotless and mum has not once complained she is cold since she has been there! a*

My partner and I attended a birthday celebration for my aunt on 18th October.
We had attended before and have to say that we found her to be very well cared for and in an excellent environment.
We had have a couple of meals and are always greeted with a drink and a snack.
My aunt is lucky to have
been able to secure a place in Cuffley Manor

I cannot rate Cuffley Manor highly enough - the staff were so kind and patient with my mother and she was looked after amazingly well.
The food was delicious, her room was beautiful, the grounds were fabulous - so much thought had been put into Cuffley Manor.

I loved the fact that room doors were

made to look like front doors so residents had a sense of belonging. A wonderful cinema room, great hairdressers, sweetie shop, in-house pub - everything you could wish for was there.

My husband and I felt we should be putting our names down in readiness!

Fabulous home that looks like a five-star hotel with carers to match and an amazing range of activities and topical programmes. Wonderful Mad Hatter's Tea Party this week to celebrate home's first birthday and next week second leg of 'cruise' to France with an accordion player, French singer and can-can
dancers. Everyone goes to such effort to entertain and stimulate the residents. When the weather is good residents can stroll through the beautiful grounds enjoying the scenery and watching the ducks in the pond. In inclement weather, the same view can be seen from the terraces outside the beautifully furnished lounges. There is a pub, one hole golf course (inside!) and a hairdressing salon and little shop with supplies of essentials for the residents. Brilliant chef and the home even boasts a family room furnished with a chandelier and stocked with champagne for family celebrations. Kitchens and dining rooms are comfortable and homely. I'm putting my name down for when the time comes.

I had to put my mum into a home for respite as her carer was going on holiday. She was very reluctant and went kicking and screaming. She has had the most wonderful time there and wants to go back and stay again. The staff were incredible, nothing was too much trouble whatever her needs were they were
met and with kindness beyond belief. It is a marvellous place and has everything you could desire. We call it a hotel because that's exactly what it was like- only better.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.905)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.905) out of 10 for Cuffley Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 58 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 57 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.905 for Cuffley Manor is calculated as follows: ( (622 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 681 Ratings = 4.905
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cuffley Manor is based on 57 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 57 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

We’re delighted to welcome Alexandra (Alex) Borobeica as the new Home Manager at Cuffley Manor Care Home.

Alex brings with her a wealth of experience across the health and social care sector. Her career has taken her across Europe, supporting vulnerable adults in Germany, Austria, Italy and Portugal, before making England her home in 2014.

Having grown from Health Care Assistant to Deputy Manager and now Home Manager, Alex is deeply committed to compassionate, person-centred care and positive, values-led leadership. She holds a Level 5 Diploma and a BSc in Health and Social Care and is currently studying for a Master’s in International Business Management.

I have worked in the care sector for over 40 years having started work as an activities coordinator in my home country of Scotland. I then started my career as a care assistant and senior carer in hospitals and care homes.

I took a career break when I had my twins and studied for the Higher Social Care Programme in Edinburgh as a mature student. It was here I was diagnosed with Dyslexia and took part in a programme for those over 40 in education. Ten years ago, I moved to England as a team leader and progressed to Care Services Manager and then home manager.

I joined TLC Care in 2017 as Regional Support Manager before progressing to Learning and Development Coach, and now, I am in a role I have a great passion for at Cuffley Manor.

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping Joined: 2016

I joined Cuffley Manor in June 2016 when it first opened, with new residents joining. I was able to offer care and housekeeping. This was so important for me to learn and understand, and today I can say I am very proud of my home, as this gives me so much joy and satisfaction seeing our family grow at Cuffley Manor.

Seeing residents’ smiles, taking time to sit and talk with them, sometimes, little things are like milestones, seemingly insignificant, but with a huge impact. That’s what working at Cuffley Manor is for me.

In my spare time, I like reading fantasy books, travelling and spending time with my family. I like to learn new skills and always carry a beautiful smile.

I came to the UK to pursue my master's. I started working for TLC as a part-time care assistant in 2021. Though I had never worked in the field of care before, my experience at TLC has piqued my curiosity in it. I was formerly employed in Cherry Hinton, but due to commuting issues, I was transferred to Cuffley Manor. I grew close to the Cuffley people, and I eagerly anticipated working alongside my colleagues each day.
My academics required me to participate in an internship program. I received an offer from TLC to work as an administrator and financial assistant for a year at the Carlton Court Care Home. I was given fresh opportunities for learning and growth while I was at Carlton. I would say that Carlton changed the course of my financial career. I was now offered the amazing chance to return to Cuffley Manor in the capacity of Manager of Finance and HR.

Job Title: Wellbeing Lead Joined: 2025

From an early age, I developed a deep commitment to supporting wellbeing and mental health, always taking pride in helping those around me feel valued and uplifted.

During my Honours degree in Psychology, I became increasingly aware of the profound connection between physical health and mental well-being. This insight inspired me to pursue a Master’s in Health Psychology at UCL, where I specialised in understanding and promoting positive behaviour change. My academic training has equipped me with strong, evidence-based skills in therapeutic communication, holistic assessment, and person-centred care.

Alongside my studies, I gained valuable experience working within the NHS, supporting diverse patient groups and developing key competencies in safeguarding, multidisciplinary teamwork, and delivering high-quality, compassionate care. Combined with a personal enthusiasm for organising meaningful activities and creating joyful, purposeful environments, these experiences naturally guided me to my role at Cuffley Manor.

Here, I am dedicated to delivering exceptional wellbeing support—honouring every resident with the same respect, warmth, and dignity I would offer my own family, and ensuring that each day holds moments of connection, laughter, and quality care.
