Overall Experience
I visited Cuffley Manor as I am currently researching suitable care homes for my mother. I was given a comprehensive tour of the home and was very impressed by the facilities and the staff I met. The décor is of a high standard and all parts of the building are contemporary with a lot of natural light. The bedrooms are spacious and well furnished. The home has several lounges, everywhere was very clean and the garden well maintained. It has an appearance more in keeping with that of a hotel than the traditional image of a care home. I met several staff, who hold a variety of roles within the home, and found everyone very friendly and professional. There also seemed to be an excellent rapport between residents and staff. My mother and I were impressed by the extensive and varied menu and by the wide choice of activities available to residents.

I would certainly recommend that anyone considering a care home visit Cuffley Manor.

My experiences are generally good. However, it is difficult to be completely objective during a period when the home has been subject to many Covid restrictions.
Recently there have been a number of management changes on top of the pressure to keep caring staff during the current nationwide shortage. This has resulted in a negative impact on residents' wellbeing (from the feedback I receive from my relation).
Having said that, the caring staff provide good care and support. As one of the most important aspects of the service provision, this should be recognised.
The management team are polite and visibly active. Based on the quality and content of the relative communication emails, it is clear there is a severe lack of 'attention to detail' with evidence of repeating errors, typos and inappropriate use of personal data. This usually is an indicator of failures in governance and internal processes resulting from poor leadership, management organisation and control.

In summary, accepting the unprecedented situation over the last two years, the general level of care provided is good. Following the recent changes, leadership and management support needs to improve significantly.

Thank you for your balanced and thoughtful feedback. This has indeed been a challenging period for the care industry as a whole and we are relieved that we are coming back to some normality. My grandmother has been a resident for nearly two years, and I couldn’t wish for more. The staff are extremely caring and friendly, and she is ultimately looked after very well. For her birthday celebrations this month, the staff threw her a fabulous afternoon tea party, which we were invited to. It was so special to celebrate with her! I would highly recommend this care home.

Reply from Kay Mitchell, Manager at Cuffley Manor

Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review. Your Grandmother is very much loved and respected at Cuffley Manor, and it was our pleasure to help make her very special birthday one to remember. We are so glad the family got to spend some real quality time together with her. I think she particularly liked the amazing birthday cake and Mark singing to her! Precious times.

We would like to thank your care home manager and her staff for making our trip to the UK to see my brother, both a joy and a great success. She went out of her way to take care of all the details of our visit and is a credit to your home.
We had been worried about the Covid restrictions but she assured us there would be no reason at all why we would not be able to see my brother. Your staff even carried out our first lateral flow tests right there in the home during our first visit, as well as providing us with a precise training session. They even gave us test kits so we were able to take the test every morning before coming to the home.

As to seeing Cuffley Manor Care Home for the first time, my two daughters (one a physician) and I were most impressed with all aspects of the facility. We found it spotless, beautifully appointed and most importantly, all of the staff we met were both kind and professional. Not only that but they clearly knew my brother well and treated him more like a friend than a patient.

Reply from Kay Mitchell, Manager at Cuffley Manor
Hi Richard, thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback. It was mine and the teams pleasure in making sure you enjoyed every minute of your visit to the UK to spend time with your brother.
Seeing your brother absolutely cherish his time with you and his nieces was simply wonderful.
Hope to see you all in the not too distant future.
Kind Regards.

Kay.

My mother had a two-week respite stay at Cuffley Manor Care Home. She needed some tender loving care without responsibility for her house and the need to prepare her own meals.
I needed a break away for a few days without worry.
Her visit was successful on both counts. Mum says the staff couldn’t have been better and the food delicious. She went from eating very little, needing encouragement to even have a yoghurt or cracker for tea, to eating three good size meals each day.
Although the plan is for her to try in her own home again, she may well be back!
Thank you to the managers and the team.

I am sure I should be thanking more but these are the people I have met.

On entering the home through a controlled entry point, I was met with four members of staff, each one acknowledged me with a cheerful smile or wave. I was greeted by the receptionist in the friendliest of manners who made me feel immediately welcome. All other staff were much the same.
The home itself is something I would never have imagined. It was everything and more that I would want for any of my elderly relatives and one I would more than happily live in when the time comes.
I immediately spotted the beautiful hair salon which looked like something out of a magazine. I also noticed the beauty treatment room which was as tranquil as any other I have seen....but, the cinema was just amazing! And even had an old fashioned popcorn stand.

I can't do the rest of the home justice but nothing disappointed. The residents seemed very cared for and very happy. The many photos I have seen are examples of what I saw in person. Outstanding.

My friend was a resident here for less than a year, but I can truthfully say that the staff at this care home are beyond exceptional. I haven't been inside Cuffley Manor since March 2020 so this review mostly reflects my observations from March. In March the overall standard, the rooms, the food and drink, care and support were excellent and I believe that this remains the same. From videos and photos online I see that the activities provided are excellent. New management has turned the home around and are very supportive and effective in ensuring residents are safe, most importantly in preserving to keep COVID at bay. Indoor visits, I feel need to have amplifiers in place as the screen prevents my mother from hearing me. Keep up the good work.

My Mum has been at Cuffley Manor since the day it opened. It is a beautiful home and my Mum feels safe and secure here. There have been a lot of teething problems which were difficult for the first 2 years. Mainly problems with getting a manager to stay for more than 3 months. Things are better now. There are some amazing carers who are wonderful with my Mum and extremely caring and kind and very attentive to her individual needs. We do need more activities however at weekends when it can be a bit boring for my Mum. More dementia focussed activities, please.

I came to the UK to pursue my master's. I started working for TLC as a part-time care assistant in 2021. Though I had never worked in the field of care before, my experience at TLC has piqued my curiosity in it. I was formerly employed in Cherry Hinton, but due to commuting issues, I was transferred to Cuffley Manor. I grew close to the Cuffley people, and I eagerly anticipated working alongside my colleagues each day.

My academics required me to participate in an internship program. I received an offer from TLC to work as an administrator and financial assistant for a year at the Carlton Court Care Home. I was given fresh opportunities for learning and growth while I was at Carlton. I would say that Carlton changed the course of my financial career. I was now offered the amazing chance to return to Cuffley Manor in the capacity of Manager of Finance and HR.

From an early age, I developed a deep commitment to supporting wellbeing and mental health, always taking pride in helping those around me feel valued and uplifted.
