Bourn View Care Home in Bournville opened its doors in June 2017, and it has quickly become one of the most impressive additions to Avery's repertoire of private care homes in the Midlands. They are proud to be associated with the Bournville Village Trust's care community for the elderly, and the home offers respite, residential and dementia care services.

The building stands in an elevated position and boasts stunning views of a waterfall, stream and the Bournville Village. Its sleek design features a beautiful central curved roof, floor-to-ceiling windows, and doors that open to the grounds, creating a light, sunny and connected atmosphere with the surrounding landscape.

The care home in Birmingham has beautiful atriums on each floor, and they house a bistro and bar where residents, friends and families gather. Additionally, four dining rooms and intimate lounges, styled in contemporary décor with bold splashes of colour, lead out to terraces that provide a perfect setting for a pre-dinner drink or an observation of the magnificent surroundings. The home also includes its own hair salon, café, and cinema room.

I was visiting a resident who is in respite care. Also, I stayed here on respite care five years ago for two weeks. The entrance and approach to the building is well well-signposted. The foyer is welcoming. The reception staff were very friendly and I was delighted that one of the reception staff from
five years ago was still there. The care staff were gentle and helpful. They treated my friend with efficient care and dignity.

This is a lovely care home. Always warm and welcoming. Individual care staff are excellent but there is some inconsistency in the standard of care depending on who is on duty. Mum has definitely improved in mobility and mental health since she came here and we are very grateful for that.

My dear mother has resided at Bourn View Care Home for over two years. Overall, my mother receives very good care. The staff (a consistent team) are warm, professional and extremely hardworking. The standard of cleanliness is also very good in all areas of the care home. My mother's room is well-maintained
with a delightful patio. The onsite GP practice ensures that residents have frequent access to a regular GP who visits the care home. The staff are very vigilant and attentive regarding medical matters and always ensure that my mother gets appropriate medical attention.

From the minute you walk through the door you are greeted by smiling friendly professional people. My uncle only spent 3 months here before he passed, but he was made comfortable and treated so kindly by everyone, that we knew we could not have chosen a better place for his last few months. The staff
from the front desk to the cleaners. Carers and kitchen staff are professional and amazing at what they do. The bistro in the entrance is a nice little touch, you can take your loved one out there for a drink and they have freshly made cakes and biscuits for you to help yourself. The care is top-class and personal to the individual. They think about the small details that a lot of places don't think of. Can't thank them enough for the care and love they have shown my uncle and us as a family.

There is a lovely, welcoming atmosphere as you enter Bourn View Care Home and a sense of life about the place. There is the chatter of residents enjoying cake and coffee in the lounge area by reception and it's good to hear conversations that relate to the local area. We chose the care home partly because
Mum is from around here and this allows her to hear people talking about an area she has always known. Mum's been in Bourn View for five months now - she is settled, content, safe and secure.

My first impression of Bourn View Care Home - Avery Healthcare was that it was warm, inviting and welcoming. My friend has been staying for respite and has received kindness, support and care. They have now decided to remain as a permanent resident. We met with the manager who gave us excellent advice
and reassurance regarding her future care. I have no hesitation in recommending future care. I have no hesitation in recommending Bourn View Care Home to friends and family.

Our 95-year mom has been at Bourn View Care Home since April this year and her care has been superb, exceeding all our expectations. We looked at several care homes for Mom when the time came that, unfortunately, she could not safely stay at her home and Bourn View was head and shoulders above all the
others in every aspect. The staff are so compassionate and considerate in dealing with Mom's dementia. The home is immaculate with a cleanliness that is exceptional with beautifully maintained, safe grounds. Her room is bright with lovely decorations and homely furnishings. The food provided is of a very high quality with a good variety on offer, the care team go to great lengths to encourage Mom to eat her meals. Many activities are continually organised to help with the well-being of the residents, these are posted on Facebook for us to see. The staff are all very pleasant and well motivated. We have been so impressed from the very warm welcome at reception to the lovely personal care Mom is receiving.

My mum has been at Bourn View since January 2019 and we couldn’t be happier with the personalised care and love she has been shown by the staff in all departments. She tells us on each visit how kind everyone is and how lucky she is to be there. She is always encouraged to come out of her shell and
to eat properly and we love to see the social media photos of her laughing and joining in activities. It really is a first-class care home and we have never felt this so keenly as in the last week when she had a health scare and was admitted to hospital. The Bourn View carers were calm, compassionate and so caring and she was welcomed back with open arms and we could see the relief and joy on her face to be back ‘home’. Thanks to all the carers, housekeeping staff, reception and management for their professionalism and genuine care for the residents.

My mother has been in Bourn View Care Home since February 2021, I couldn’t wish for a better home for my mother. Not only is it like a five-star hotel, when you enter the reception, but you get 100% from every one of the staff, they really look after the residents, lots of activities to keep everyone
happy.
Every bedroom is very spacious with an ensuite shower/wet room
Bourn View Care Home is certainly home from home I couldn’t wish for any more care and attention for my mother. She is also very happy living there among friends

My mother spent two weeks respite at Bourn View and later returned to be a resident when she could no longer manage alone. She had so enjoyed her time, she was keen to go back. All the staff are so caring and put the happiness of the residents before everything. This applies to the admin staff who showed
a real interest in helping me make the right decisions for my mother at each stage. The reception staff immediately learned my name and made me feel welcome and the care staff were wonderful with Mum. She kept telling me how lovely they were.

Both parents have flourished since being at Bourn View. The standard of care and quality of life is second to none. This is not a care home, this is a home that cares! All the staff are kind, caring and compassionate and nothing is too much trouble. Bourn View is immaculately clean, inside and out.
Our family now have the reassurance that our parents are safe and well cared for, which gives us peace of mind.

My mother is being very well cared for in Bourn View. The staff are very attentive and are always willing to answer any queries. Mum has been at Bourn View for almost a year. Although it has been a difficult time for residents, staff and relatives, Mum has been well looked after. Since the restrictions
have eased, there has been a good atmosphere. It has been lovely to join in with the activities and to get to know the other residents and their families.

From the first time we called to enquire as to how we could look at getting dad into Bourn View Care Home, everyone was extremely polite and professional but most noticeably to me - they seemed genuinely caring about what would be best for my dad. The nightmare scenarios I had heard about with parents
with Alzheimer's finding a place dad would be happy in, were non-existent. We are fortunate we can afford a place like Bourn View but still, to turn around an initial enquiry into 2 weeks of respite care with the opportunity to become a permanent resident, within 4 days, was astonishing.
Maybe it was luck, or just good timing but I don't think so. The 2 weeks respite or 'trial' I suppose, went smoothly. All the things I worried about, Bourn View staff took in their stride. They listened to my concerns and helped me cope with them. God bless all at Bourn View.

My mum has needed respite care in Bourn View Care Home following a recent fall and fracture. The home team and staff have been so supportive and helpful, it has helped take away the stress and anxiety. The care home also had a fantastic Jubilee party, which lifted Mum's spirits and we all enjoyed it.

Hello, my name is Jenna, and I am the Home Manager here at Bournview Care Home.


I have over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to becoming home manager here, I have had several previous roles, including senior care assistant, deputy manager at an Army nursery and a moving and handling trainer for the NHS. I am always looking into ways to develop my skills in the sector and have successfully done this by proudly accomplishing the NVQ levels 2, 3 and 5.


I would best describe myself as someone who is warm, welcoming and someone who is also on the go. In my downtime, I enjoy cheering my children on from the sidelines at their football matches.


Within my career, I have been lucky enough to meet many residents with amazing stories and backgrounds. Seeing my residents happy and enjoying life each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level. One memorable moment that I will cherish forever was when one of my residents had difficulties walking. Using my experience, I referred them to occupational therapy, where they began to walk with assistance and without aids within two months. This is just one example of where I have been able to use my skills to better the lives of our residents.

Hi, I’m Sarah, the Deputy Home Manager here at Bournview Care Home. I’ve been proudly part of the Bournview family for 8 years now, and in that time I’ve worn many hats – from Carer and Senior Carer to Team Leader, and now Deputy. With over 13 years in care, I’ve also gained my NVQ Level 3, and I’m currently working hard towards my Level 5.


What I love most about my role is the people – both residents and their families. Building those relationships and being part of their journey means the world to me. The best part of every day is seeing our residents smile, knowing we’re helping them live a happy, fulfilling quality of life.


For me, Bournview isn’t just a workplace – it’s a home full of love, laughter and dedication.

I started working at Bournview in 2024 after 6 months travelling. My favourite part of the role is meeting new residents and showcasing the lovely facilities Bournview Care Home has to offer.
