There is a lovely, welcoming atmosphere as you enter Bourn View Care Home and a sense of life about the place. There is the chatter of residents enjoying cake and coffee in the lounge area by reception and it's good to hear conversations that relate to the local area. We chose the care home partly because Mum is from around here and this allows her to hear people talking about an area she has always known. Mum's been in Bourn View for five months now - she is settled, content, safe and secure.

Thank you for the lovely review of our home. we pride ourselves in making our residents feel at home and we love nothing more than listening to them talk about their experiences of living around the area. It's so nice to hear that your mom has settled well here. It's so wonderful to see her interacting with the other residents more and more.

My first impression of Bourn View Care Home - Avery Healthcare was that it was warm, inviting and welcoming. My friend has been staying for respite and has received kindness, support and care. They have now decided to remain as a permanent resident. We met with the manager who gave us excellent advice and reassurance regarding her future care. I have no hesitation in recommending future care. I have no hesitation in recommending Bourn View Care Home to friends and family.

Our 95-year mom has been at Bourn View Care Home since April this year and her care has been superb, exceeding all our expectations. We looked at several care homes for Mom when the time came that, unfortunately, she could not safely stay at her home and Bourn View was head and shoulders above all the others in every aspect. The staff are so compassionate and considerate in dealing with Mom's dementia. The home is immaculate with a cleanliness that is exceptional with beautifully maintained, safe grounds. Her room is bright with lovely decorations and homely furnishings. The food provided is of a very high quality with a good variety on offer, the care team go to great lengths to encourage Mom to eat her meals. Many activities are continually organised to help with the well-being of the residents, these are posted on Facebook for us to see. The staff are all very pleasant and well motivated. We have been so impressed from the very warm welcome at reception to the lovely personal care Mom is receiving.

My mum has been at Bourn View since January 2019 and we couldn’t be happier with the personalised care and love she has been shown by the staff in all departments. She tells us on each visit how kind everyone is and how lucky she is to be there. She is always encouraged to come out of her shell and to eat properly and we love to see the social media photos of her laughing and joining in activities. It really is a first-class care home and we have never felt this so keenly as in the last week when she had a health scare and was admitted to hospital. The Bourn View carers were calm, compassionate and so caring and she was welcomed back with open arms and we could see the relief and joy on her face to be back ‘home’. Thanks to all the carers, housekeeping staff, reception and management for their professionalism and genuine care for the residents.

My mother has been in Bourn View Care Home since February 2021, I couldn’t wish for a better home for my mother. Not only is it like a five-star hotel, when you enter the reception, but you get 100% from every one of the staff, they really look after the residents, lots of activities to keep everyone happy.
Every bedroom is very spacious with an ensuite shower/wet room

Bourn View Care Home is certainly home from home I couldn’t wish for any more care and attention for my mother. She is also very happy living there among friends

My mother spent two weeks respite at Bourn View and later returned to be a resident when she could no longer manage alone. She had so enjoyed her time, she was keen to go back. All the staff are so caring and put the happiness of the residents before everything. This applies to the admin staff who showed a real interest in helping me make the right decisions for my mother at each stage. The reception staff immediately learned my name and made me feel welcome and the care staff were wonderful with Mum. She kept telling me how lovely they were.

Both parents have flourished since being at Bourn View. The standard of care and quality of life is second to none. This is not a care home, this is a home that cares! All the staff are kind, caring and compassionate and nothing is too much trouble. Bourn View is immaculately clean, inside and out. Our family now have the reassurance that our parents are safe and well cared for, which gives us peace of mind.

My mother is being very well cared for in Bourn View. The staff are very attentive and are always willing to answer any queries. Mum has been at Bourn View for almost a year. Although it has been a difficult time for residents, staff and relatives, Mum has been well looked after. Since the restrictions have eased, there has been a good atmosphere. It has been lovely to join in with the activities and to get to know the other residents and their families.

From the first time we called to enquire as to how we could look at getting dad into Bourn View Care Home, everyone was extremely polite and professional but most noticeably to me - they seemed genuinely caring about what would be best for my dad. The nightmare scenarios I had heard about with parents with Alzheimer's finding a place dad would be happy in, were non-existent. We are fortunate we can afford a place like Bourn View but still, to turn around an initial enquiry into 2 weeks of respite care with the opportunity to become a permanent resident, within 4 days, was astonishing.

Maybe it was luck, or just good timing but I don't think so. The 2 weeks respite or 'trial' I suppose, went smoothly. All the things I worried about, Bourn View staff took in their stride. They listened to my concerns and helped me cope with them. God bless all at Bourn View.

My mum has needed respite care in Bourn View Care Home following a recent fall and fracture. The home team and staff have been so supportive and helpful, it has helped take away the stress and anxiety. My Mum was a resident at Bourn View until very recently when she passed away. Almost three years. I remember the days of looking around other care homes as it was an important decision to make for Mum's future and for the care of her Parkinson's. The moment we set foot into Bourn View, from the greeting we got, the tour around and the overall feeling, we knew it was the right choice. Over the last almost three years, we have been safe in the knowledge Mum got her support and needs to be taken care of in such a wonderful place. The staff, the friends Mum made over her time, everyone was so nice and caring. Just wanted to thank everyone for making Bourn View a fantastic place for Mum to live and for us to visit when we came to see her. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

My mum has been in Bourn View for four weeks now as a permanent resident on the memory unit. I couldn’t fault Bourn View in any way from the initial visit and then her joining the following week. The homemade the transition as easy as possible and we're keen to make sure they knew enough about my mum to get her settled, also making things like labelling clothes easy too. My mum has settled in so well and very quickly. She was a quiet individual who didn’t socialise much, so being in the home has been great for her as she’s taking part in most of the activities, which are well thought through and engaging. Whenever I phone, the staff are always so willing to talk to me and give me updates and I honestly feel I couldn’t get a better place for my mum. I know she’s being well looked after and is safe and that’s the most important thing.

My Mom has had the most wonderful two years at Bourn View. She had so much fun with the carers and couldn't fault the home in any way. She loved the food, going to the hairdresser/beautician, and being in the beautiful gardens. She felt independent but, all her care needs were met as well. I searched high and low to find a care home for her, but couldn't find anything that could compete with Bourn View. Even my friend in Kent was so impressed that she chose the Avery Healthcare home for her Mom.
I can't thank all the staff at Bourn View enough for giving my Mom, and us as a family the best two years Mom could have wished for. She said it was better than being at home. It was like a luxury hotel. Avery has achieved the gold standard for care homes, and I can't thank Bourn View enough for looking after my Mom so well. I appreciate everything you have done for her. She couldn't have been better looked after. And she loved being with you all.

Thank you.

Jenna Hughes
Jenna HughesJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

Hello, my name is Jenna, and I am the Home Manager here at Bournview Care Home.

I have over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to becoming home manager here, I have had several previous roles, including senior care assistant, deputy manager at an Army nursery and a moving and handling trainer for the NHS. I am always looking into ways to develop my skills in the sector and have successfully done this by proudly accomplishing the NVQ levels 2, 3 and 5.

I would best describe myself as someone who is warm, welcoming and someone who is also on the go. In my downtime, I enjoy cheering my children on from the sidelines at their football matches.

Within my career, I have been lucky enough to meet many residents with amazing stories and backgrounds. Seeing my residents happy and enjoying life each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level. One memorable moment that I will cherish forever was when one of my residents had difficulties walking. Using my experience, I referred them to occupational therapy, where they began to walk with assistance and without aids within two months. This is just one example of where I have been able to use my skills to better the lives of our residents.

Avery Healthcare, owners of Bournview, best stands out for their luxurious appearance and expectations of what quality care should be received by our residents. All staff receive continuous support and training. And our home is no different. Our home is unique as it is a true home from home. It is filled with an endless amount of fun, care and love. Residents, relatives and staff all form one happy community.

I look forward to welcoming you to Bournview Care Home.

Hi, I’m Sarah, the Deputy Home Manager here at Bournview Care Home. I’ve been proudly part of the Bournview family for 8 years now, and in that time I’ve worn many hats – from Carer and Senior Carer to Team Leader, and now Deputy. With over 13 years in care, I’ve also gained my NVQ Level 3, and I’m currently working hard towards my Level 5.

What I love most about my role is the people – both residents and their families. Building those relationships and being part of their journey means the world to me. The best part of every day is seeing our residents smile, knowing we’re helping them live a happy, fulfilling quality of life.

For me, Bournview isn’t just a workplace – it’s a home full of love, laughter and dedication.
