Ridley Manor is an outstanding care home in all respects. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Both my parents have dementia and are looked after on the Memory floor.
The facilities are excellent and the care second to none. Mum and dads floor is headed up by 3 certain members of staff who are all
excellent and they are ably assisted by a good number of lovely staff, many of whom have been there for years which I think is always a good sign.
Mum and dad always look clean and tidy, and mum with her nails painted. The food is lovely and they both eat well - Dad having put on 4kg and he’s only been there a month.
There are plenty of activities for them to take part in and they particularly enjoy the Kiddley Divey weekly visits - in fact, anything musical.
If there are any relevant updates or concerns I am informed straight away.
It’s always such a difficult decision to put your parents into care but I couldn’t have made a better choice.

A wonderful team who cared for my mum with real compassion. The home and room were kept really clean, and every effort was made to meet her needs and requirements. Family and friends are warmly welcomed with nice areas to sit and chat.

I stayed at Ridley Manor for two weeks in August 2022 to recover from major surgery. I came with no notice from the hospital. The management and staff were always smiling, delightful and very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much. They assisted in improving my mobility. They found a physiotherapist
I needed. They helped me get on my feet again. They made my visitors very welcome with chairs, tea, coffee, etc. They could not have been nicer. The facilities are bright and clean, and there is a lovely small garden. Highly recommended.

I've been here for about nine weeks after a spell in hospital. I was very poorly when I arrived (heart failure, diabetes and recent stroke). I am now very much stronger, starting to walk again and feeling very well. I have decided to become a permanent resident. Selling my home. The excellent facilities
and high standard and friendly care and attention. I feel very lucky to be living here.

My father spent four weeks at Ridley Manor for convalescence after a hospital stay. He was very well cared for whilst he was there, the staff were lovely, and the home is a very nice environment to live in. Should he need to move to a care home in the future we will definitely want him to be at Ridley
Manor.

I was very impressed with Ridley Manor from the very beginning of my inquiry for respite care for my mum. The attention, response time and customer service was spot on. I was made to feel that they cared and did everything to meet my expectations of a well run business. I'm so glad I found Ridley Manor
for my mum. I didn't worry about my mum at all during her stay because I knew she was being well cared for and that was so important to me.

My mother spent the last 6 weeks of her life in this care home and I couldn't have asked for a better environment. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who are kind, caring and patient. Mum was well cared for, entertained and supported with dignity. We are so sad that she could not have enjoyed
this wonderful home for many more months or even years. Thank you to all the amazing staff who looked after Mum for this short period of time and ensured that she was safe, comfortable and happy in the last few weeks of her life.

I felt it important to write a short review which should be shared with the staff at Gracewell. Mum and mother sadly passed away on Sunday 27th February. She was looked after impeccably by a number of staff over the last three to four years, in particular, the carer who she was very fond of and I believe
the feeling was very mutual. I cannot fault the home in any way the care, food, entertainment and cleanliness was always brilliant even through some very difficult times.

You have all been amazing and the family really would like to say a big thank-you for everything.

I am nearly 94 and was diagnosed with Bipolar too when I was 78. I had not seen a Doctor for 35 years! Since then I have received constant medical care, for heart failure and severe arthritis of the left arm. When I am 'down' I stay in bed and do not wish to do anything for 10 weeks and love 1 hour
a day. Then I have 7 weeks 'high' and again three hours a day. Everyone at Gracewell is extremely kind - nothing is too much trouble.

It is heartbreaking to see the mental deterioration of my father-in-law - a former Doctor (hospital consultant) with no previous history of dementia. I believe this is at least partly due to the social isolation/associated lack of stimulation endured; one, one-hour visit, 3 weeks in 4. i.e. 3 visits
per month, with one family member only. The Govt. should indemnify care homes (as per NHS) so proper, frequent visits can resume. Today was his 90th birthday, so sad.
Reply from Rozina Ali, General Manager at Ridley ManorThank you very much for your feedback I would like to assure you that Peter was very much loved by all of us and will be greatly missed here at Gracewell of High Wycombe. We do offer 1:1 activities to all our residents in their bedrooms and residents are supported to attend all communal areas and dining services. We also run various social activities clubs such as book club, gardening club, movement to music, arts and crafts and pampering club alongside sensory stimulation activities such as weekly Aromatherapy, use of magic table, music and dance therapy. We also promote personal choice activities for residents who do not wish to join group activities. We keep in touch with our family members and photos of our residents' participation in activities are shared regularly. We offer enhanced visits to our family members taking into account our residents' needs and work very closely with our family members in the best interest of our residents' care and welfare.

Socialising is promoted but in a non-condescending way. Carers know their residents well and we have always found their judgements to be reassuring and utterly sensitive.

My father appears well and well cared for. I would like to have more information regarding his care plan and needs and occasional meetings with him and his carers would be helpful so I feel involved. Under current restrictions, the home and its staff are doing a heroic task and I feel confident in their
ability and judgement to care for Dad in the best possible way. We could not have chosen better.

The care my mother has received living at Gracewell over the past 3 years has been wonderful. Seeing her so relaxed and happy living here means the world to the family. Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.942)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.942) out of 10 for Ridley Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.942 for Ridley Manor is calculated as follows: ( (343 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 363 Ratings = 4.942
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ridley Manor is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager

My early career started out in education, but my path stumbled into care and I found my true vocation, working my way up to become a care home manager at another home before joining Ridley Manor.

I have completed a post-graduate diploma in dementia, and currently I am completing my Master’s degree in dementia care too.

To be successful and good as a General Manager, I believe that you should be empathetic, caring, and supportive and have the passion to be able to look after all the changing needs of the residents entrusted into your care. By the same token, you need to be able to support, encourage and motivate your team to be able to achieve their career goals and be the best version of themselves.

My biggest career highlight has been meeting the great Nelson Mandela and being able to spend a few moments in his company.
