Gracewell has a lovely, airy feel to it, with wide corridors, many balconies and lounges and big open spaces. The staff are extremely cheerful and helpful. My father has been happy at Gracewell for the time he has been there. He has a comfortable room, well-cooked food with a nice menu, and the standard
of his care is good. The staff have even managed to cajole him into taking part in some of the activities - unheard of in the past!

My brother and I have experienced the excellent care provided by this lovely, bright care home for our mother who was suffering from Alzheimer's over the past nine months. We had to find her new accommodation which was safe and caring on the death of our father (her carer) and luckily we did just that.


I cannot praise enough the caring attitude of the staff who looked after Mum. Also all the "backroom staff" were equally engaged too.


We were always made to feel welcome at whatever time or day or night we were visiting. Mum seemed calm and happy whenever we saw her. There are plenty of activities tailored to people who have this dreadful condition.


The best thing was that we were able to let Mum pass away in her own room with their end of life care plan and not to have her experience the horrors of the hospital in her final days.

Very warm and welcoming environment, my Nan has been in resident at Gracewell home now for just over 8 months. She is very happy here and we feel happy that she is in the best possible place. The nurses and staff here are lovely and caring, they always look approachable and will always converse with
residents. Positivity shines through here.

Great home, always clean, tidy helpful staff. My grandmother is very well looked after and they deal with all her medical needs exceptionally well. Fantastic facilities for all abilities and great activities to get them all involved and interested. Very happy if I went to join in to accommodate.

The general ambience of Gracewell is welcoming, lovely, fresh and spacious. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and polite. Residents were treated as individuals and their needs attended to. My husband's medication is complicated - 18 pills per day and this needed to be given at precise times. There
were a few hiccups to begin with but it was soon sorted out satisfactorily. On my visits, I was always greed with a smile and my own well being considered too. Importantly my husband soon settled and relaxed there.

Gracewell of High Wycombe is a comfortable and friendly environment for my father. I believe he is well cared for though clearly, he favours some of the staff over others. I would like to see him encouraged more to participate in activities - though at 92 he is somewhat stuck in his ways - so it's not
easy. Unfortunately, the majority of residents are female so my dad lacks male company of a similar age - but that's not the fault of the home. Overall I am very happy with the home and the care provided for my dad.

The standard of Gracewell of High Wycombe itself and the care of all the staff are in my opinion exceptional. My mother has been a resident since the beginning of December and the staff made her feel welcome, valued and reassured and continue to do that on a daily basis. They have been proactive and
sensitive about her increasing nursing needs and adjusted her care as required.
I cannot praise this home enough, it looks and is a very well run and caring home.

After an initial respite in an alternative home in the area it was clear Mum needed more permanent care, thus I searched all availabilities and set up a short list. Gracewell of High Wycombe came out on top for location, home quality and level of expected care, they also were not the highest in price.


So

Mum moved in, and the experience matched the research, Mum was very happy, and the family were very happy.


We liked Gracewell, however, this location is over 2 hours from family so we have now found availability in another Gracewell only 20 minutes away and Mum's moved. We were concerned that they may not live up to the high standard set at High Wycombe, but can not report that the Gracewell brand is consistent and Mum is really happy.

My father came to live at Gracewell 3 months ago. His needs were met in all areas by the caring respectful staff. The high standards of care and kindness were reflected in the beautiful well-designed home which allowed Dad to walk freely as his dementia required in a safe environment. His family always
greeted and made to feel part of an extended Gracewell's family. Dad's quality of life was greatly improved. I would highly recommend this wonderful residential care home.

After a very bad fall and five weeks in hospital, my considerable needs were well assessed by Gracewell and I was moved to Gracewell the following day. I've received careful, firm and kind nursing care and have made tremendous progress in only a few weeks. The response from all the staff is very good,
compassionate, friendly and helpful. Management is willing to listen to suggestions and the food is excellent.
This is a new building, light, bright and quite inspiring. I would highly recommend Gracewell of High Wycombe to anyone.

I could not ask for more attentive care for my 91-year-old mother whose needs are now way beyond my own capability of providing. She is immobile, though refuses to accept it, has lost her sight and is suffering advanced dementia. She demands constant attention. Despite her limited capacity for enjoyment,
the staff arrange entertainment and take her for wheelchair walks and do their best to stimulate her mental processes. Both my husband and I have our own health problems and it is a great relief to know that Mum is well cared for.

Mum moved to Gracewell from another nursing home which was of a very good standard, with the expectation that her overall quality of life would improve at Gracewell. She has now been a resident for 2 months and I am pleased to say that she is being looked after very well and enjoys engaging with staff
and getting involved with activities. We feel her quality of life has improved. The home is lovely, brand new, bright and cheery with a good welcome for visitors from the excellent staff. It is nice to use the dining room and join Mum for meals.


This home is well run with supportive and attentive staff for both residents and visitors.

Job Title: General Manager

My early career started out in education, but my path stumbled into care and I found my true vocation, working my way up to become a care home manager at another home before joining Ridley Manor.


I have completed a post-graduate diploma in dementia, and currently I am completing my Master’s degree in dementia care too.


To be successful and good as a General Manager, I believe that you should be empathetic, caring, and supportive and have the passion to be able to look after all the changing needs of the residents entrusted into your care. By the same token, you need to be able to support, encourage and motivate your team to be able to achieve their career goals and be the best version of themselves.


My biggest career highlight has been meeting the great Nelson Mandela and being able to spend a few moments in his company.
