One particular carer no names mention little with short blonde hair (Sharsh). Has so much time to spend + care for her clients, always there for them. Gives 100% time into job. Well deserves a mention + award for what she does for her job.

The staff work very hard but there is a shortage of staff.

Particularly at weekend. I have had to wait 40 mins for my husband to be put into wheelchair.

My great Aunty, who lives at Oak Springs, has been looked after fantastically on Walnut Unit. The staff go above and beyond, nothing is too much when I ask for my aunt to be seen to. Thanks to all the staff on Walnut.

Staff are very caring and genuinely seem to care for residents. They take time to talk and give hugs and use Christian names, very welcoming. The staff are the home's biggest asset, they all speak English and can be understood by my mum. Mum likes the activities and care treatments. The bed times are too early at 8 pm - around 10 pm would be preferred. Room repairs, e.g., water in bathroom, need to be remedied quickly. Top up fees expensive.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, please feel free to come and speak to me with regards to any concerns regarding bedtimes. We don't operate a one bedtime fits all, each residents care is person centered to individual wishes. Kind Regards Andrea

Staff on Willow are very good. Mum I think finds it difficult to integrate with others or find anything to occupy her during the day, though this is difficult as she does not really try to do so. Otherwise, mostly she appears happy, which is the main thing.

Mum has only been at Oak Springs for the last month, but she and we have all been welcomed with open arms and made to feel like part of the Oak Springs family. We are still getting used to mum no longer being at home and her new routines, but have been delighted with the progress she has made since moving in, and she seems happy and settled. Thank you all for everything you do for her. Her keyworker is wonderful, as are all of you.

My wife has now been a resident for 3 1/4 years and shows no signs of physical distress or discomfort, even though she is non-verbal and spends most of her time asleep! Her reclining chair has been a blessing for everyone, despite its size! Daughter Clare usually gives Mum the evening meal, and apart from the occasional problem with constipation, her food is sufficient and wholesome. Staff are caring and supportive, and there are no issues.

Overall experience of Oak Springs is excellent! Our mum is very well cared for with care being the operative word. We cannot commend the "home" enough. The carers are simply fantastic; they genuinely care, which makes all the difference. The home is spotless, excellent variation of food, and the activities are brilliant. We would just like to say thank you for everything you do, and we greatly appreciate it.

My wife has been in Oak Springs for just over 6 years. She is well looked after and the staff on the whole are excellent, especially the long serving ones. I feel some of the new ones could benefit from more training.
Entertainment team are excellent and we are kept up to date via social media.

The home at Oak Springs is generally well run.

Reply from Andrea Lyon, Home Manager at Oak Springs Care Home

Thank you for your review, all staff go through a robust training program, holistic competencies and additional learning is developed over time. Each staff member has a learning development pathway, our main focus is not to overload staff with additional training. As the saying goes "you need to learn to walk, before you can run". My wife has been in the home for 3 1/2 years. The care she has received has been very good. The main negative point has been the large turnover in staff, only one has remained in the 3 1/2 years. The present staff are very good, but I wish they would wear name tags, as my memory for names is not good at my age. The laundry and the loss of clothing is another sore point!

Reply from Andrea Lyon, Home Manager at Oak Springs Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. We are as a company looking at more robust ID badges. Regarding staff turnover unfortunately staff do retire, progress within their career pathways, 6 staff have gone on to do their nurse training and I would never want to stand in the way of development as I know they...

My husband arrived at Oak Springs last October 2024 on Maple Suite. He has been so well looked after; the carers are sincere, helpful, caring and go over and beyond with the care they give. Entertainment, Oak Springs got talent, the activities they do. I can not fault Maple Suite. If I phone, they reassure me all is well. I go 4 times a week and I am so happy my husband is in a wonderful home.

Staff are all very helpful and friendly, but are always very busy. Rooms are nice but my Mum's bathroom is in need of an update, as is the bedroom carpet. Towels are often threadbare. Overall, Walnut is a great floor with lots of activities which are enjoyed by all. The staff make it.
