At a time when my mother was no longer able to cope at home, Bourne Wood Manor was recommended as a place to look at. At the time I was a little sceptical of care homes and had already a picture in my head of what to expect. However, the minute I walked through the door and saw the modern, bright and
spacious environment my worries and concerns were dismissed. I only popped in for a brochure but within 45 minutes of my arrival I had been welcomed and shown around the facilities and shown how lovely it was.
From that time onwards BWM kept in regular contact and supported my mum's transition from hospital into her room. The support provided was excellent and they managed early difficulties brilliantly and with tact. My mum had to move from downstairs to the dementia floor as the nursing staff recognised early she was becoming isolated.
All in all I could not have wished for a better outcome. All the early days worries have gone.

Since moving to Bourne Wood Manor Care Home, my grandmother has become happy again. There is so much on offer of her, activity-wise, that she is starting to live again! The staff are professional and friendly and the home is beautifully decorated and cosy. We enjoy visiting here and do not hesitate
in bringing the children ad dogs with us. Thank you for looking after my grandmother so wonderfully.

The service and understanding we have received from a certain member of staff has blown us away. We have looked at a huge number of homes. By this staff member's understanding and empathy made us move our mother to Bourne Wood Manor.
Now we are here, the care she has received so far is great. Another
staff member stands out as a phenomenal carer, along with one other.

As my son and daughter-in-law were due to go on holiday I arranged to enter Bourne Wood Manor Care Home for 2 weeks respite. In the home I received the best of care and attention from all the staff. The food was good, especially the delicious, home made soups. I returned home feeling pleased I had decided

I have been a resident in bourne wood Manor for 17 months. It is a very pleasant home with large personal rooms. Of course, nothing is like home but this is very near. What more can we ask for? Good food, warmth, smiles and care.

Very disappointed with the lack of care. It may be 5 star, as they claim, in appearance, but not in the provision of care. It was a DIY experience for nursing. In my opinion only having one nurse on shift, even though that nurse did her best, lacked foresight into the changing needs of residents. A
home with poor leadership. The management was brusque, abrupt and at times rude. Not an experience I would wish to repeat.

Mum moved into Bourne Wood Manor in January 2018, with an incapacitating physical illness and died March 2019. She was as sharp as a tack.
I’m a doctor but no affiliation to Porthaven. My background is care of the critically ill. I observed Mum’s care with two eyes; one as a doctor and one as a daughter;
hard to reconcile.
I was very happy with her care.
1. Nursing care; excellent, cannot fault it. Senior nurses on duty were experienced and knew when they needed to call me, I trusted their judgement. And that’s a big trust!
2. Mental well-being; hugely important. Mum was very aware of her prognosis and the manner in which she would die. Staff were sensitive to her feelings and opinions, listening to her when she wanted to talk, yet kindly asking her if anything would help on the days she felt despair.
3. Social environment; fabulous! Mum was very sociable and chatty, loved talking and people-watching!
4. Care includes that of family. I cannot fault their kindness and sensitivity and sense of humour!

Mum became a resident in March 2018 and settled quite quickly. She enjoys the food and the outings.
Her room is comfortable but as there is so much going on, she is never in there during the day.
The Bistro is great for a coffee with Mum when we visit, such a good idea not seen in other homes.
It is so reassuring to know she is secure, happy, busy and eating well.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Bournewood Manor as a nursing home. Although Bournewood is well placed clean and elegant the nursing care leaves much to be desired.
My mother's nursing needs were not being met and there was even a lack of consistency and attention to more basic needs. I feel that
Bournewood Manor is not well led and as such the staff are not well enough supported for adequate care to be delivered. I am bitterly disappointed in the care my, mother received and for that reason am unable to rate Bournewood Manor favourably

My mother always comments in a positive way about the ambience of the home and the care from the staff. She always thanks my sister and I for finding this home for her.


As I have found also in other care homes where relatives have been resident, the communications between relatives and staff could

be improved. It can take multiple requests before simple things are actioned. Knowing the outcome, be it care related or maintenance, can be difficult to ascertain.

Bourne Wood Manor are an exceptional team. My mother has only been a resident for a week but is already beginning to settle and smile again. She has been shown compassion and excellent care by all the staff who go out of their way to spend time with her. The management team have supported the whole

I studied at Godalming College, where I completed A-levels in Sociology and Hospitality. Through my studies, I developed strong customer service skills and consistently achieved high targets. My educational background has given me a solid foundation in understanding people and meeting their needs effectively.


I started working in the care sector due to my personal experience of helping my family find care for my grandparents. This experience has been deeply impactful and has equipped me with the qualities needed to be a trustworthy and compassionate person to speak to. It has also fuelled my passion for providing the best possible care and support to residents and their families.


In my free time, I enjoy spending quality moments with my friends and family. We love going on new adventures, whether it is exploring new places, trying out new activities or simply enjoying each other's company. These experiences have enriched my life and have helped me to become a more empathetic and understanding person.
