Stepfather has blossomed again after going into Timken Grange. He has recovered his enjoyment of life and his fine sense of humour has returned. He is clearly very well cared for by the team and enjoys their company. He has been introduced to a group of male residents and gets on well with them all,
friendships becoming stronger. This was a very positive proactive action by the care team. Many thanks... we no longer need to worry about Stepfather!
Reply from Louise Mulvany, Home Manager at Timken GrangeThere is a wonderful sense of community here at Timken Grange, we love to watch residents such as your stepfather forging new friendships and enjoying the company of others. After moving my mother into Timken Grange in September 2022, I immediately knew I had made the right decision. Having suffered from dementia and other ailments, sadly my mother was put on “end of life” care at the beginning of April. The care, love and support my mother received after this was exceptional
and it wasn’t only extended to her it was also extended to us as a family. All the team involved over the last few weeks worked around the clock to ensure my mother was pain-free and comfortable in her final days. They sat with my mother 24/7 and even when I was with her they sat with me and showed me unconditional support. I have come to look upon many of the staff as friends for life not just my mother's carers. Sadly, my mother passed away on the 18th of April 2023 but I am so grateful she got to spend the last few months of her life at Timken Grange.
Heartfelt thank you.
Reply from Louise Mulvany, Home Manager at Timken GrangeThank you so much for your kind words, we were honoured to be chosen to offer care and support to both your mum and your family and we are happy to know that you were content with the service provided. It makes us smile to know that you consider us friends.

My mother lived at Timken Grange from February 2019 until she passed away in January 2023. The care staff have always been excellent, and over the last two years following a change of manager, the home has made amazing strides forward and is now a wonderful place to be.
My mother suffered from dementia
and could be quite challenging at times, but was always very well looked after and encouraged to participate in activities in an appropriate manner. The home even kindly arranged for one of their staff to bring my mother to my wedding and stayed with her throughout the day to make sure that she enjoyed it to the full.
The home also has a policy of developing and promoting staff from within, so I have no doubt that the ethos and quality of care will continue well into the future.
Reply from Louise Mulvany, Home Manager at Timken GrangeThank you so much for your kind words. It was an honour and a pleasure to care for your mother and we are delighted to hear that you were so pleased with the care that we provided.

The home is very welcoming. You can tell the staff care for their residents. My mother-in-law was in the home for 4.5 years. The atmosphere is so much better and well-run since the new management came in. The staff went out of their way to go to the shops to get certain things for my mother-in-law to
eat, as she was deteriorating. We planted lots of her favourite plants in the garden for her to look out on as she sat next to the window. We maintained the garden with my mother-in-law's advice. It gave her a purpose in life.
Reply from Louise Mulvany, Care Manager at Timken GrangeThank you so much for your kind review, the team miss her deeply as she was such a big part of their lives for so long. Her garden will continue to be looked after and loved so that it can still be enjoyed by the other residents.

My Dad went into Timken Grange in mid-June 2022 and unfortunately passed away peacefully on 24th August 2022. Not a long stay, but I visited my dad many times during his stay and was always extremely happy with the care my dad received. His room and his clothes were always clean and communal areas were
amazing, with staff on hand at all times if Dad or I needed something, or just advice. There was in my opinion an obvious and positive culture of care for both residents and relatives/friends visiting, being driven correctly by the management team. The staff I met were incredibly supportive to me and is something I won't forget. Timken really looked after my dad.
Reply from Amanda Robinson, Manager at Timken GrangeThank you for taking the time to review us John and thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to care for Dad. He was a charming gentleman and very easy to love and care for, we are missing your visits and of course the biscuit supply that came with you. Please keep in touch and pop in to see us now and again.

My Father in Law is currently a resident. The care he has received has been phenomenal! Nothing is too much bother and they care for both myself and my husband as much as him.
Watching the staff having a quick brainstorm session as to get the best from him and to give him care was fascinating to
watch. A quick seed of an idea and lists and ideas were being put together to help him with his condition.
I moved him from another care home and I did have some doubts but within just a short period these worries melted away. I cannot praise this home and the staff in the home enough. They go above and beyond in every aspect.
My Father in Law is not at the moment joining in any activities, through his choice, but they still make sure he is included.
I have never seen any of the staff looking worried, apprehensive, or anything other than upbeat and positive.
First class home. First class service. First class staff!

Timken Grange is a good care home and long may it continue. The staff have a positive attitude, which is vital in this environment. We'd highly recommend staff incentive services to assist with this. Suggestions - allowing family to join residents for meals, maximising best practice approaches to decrease
personal odours in the common areas - installation of air conditioning.
Reply from Amanda Robinson, Manager at Timken GrangeHi Paul, Thank you for taking the time to review our Home, just so you are aware, Due to Covid restrictions we have been unfortunately prevented from inviting family into our home for meals. However, we have recently held a family forum meeting and families were informed we are now offering families a booking system to join their loved ones for meals. This is already in place and you are able to book in as of Monday 12th September. For details and bookings please call the home directly. We also do have air conditioning in the building, it did struggle during the adverse temperatures we have had of recent. I am sorry you have witnessed smells during a visit. Again we do manage these, however, as you can imagine, short-term smells are unavoidable and we do once identified, eliminate smells promptly. Thank you so much for your suggestions, all suggestions are reviewed and actions taken where possible to improve our service.

It has been a couple of months since my father passed away. However, it has enabled me to thoroughly consider the outstanding care that was given to my father. On May the 8th 2022, I flew in from New Zealand not knowing what to expect at the care home. I was greeted and immediately made welcome in a
challenging situation for me. My father had been quite ill for some time, but it was apparently clear that the end was imminent. I also understand that my father had been quite challenging for them, but they dealt with him with considerable understanding. This team of staff were professional, understanding and extremely helpful. The care home itself, I found to be very clean and comfortable. In most jobs, we are allowed to finish work, go home and forget and have a cup of tea, but the care staff, that are dealing with end-of-life situations on a daily basis go above and beyond. I am extremely grateful for their very kind words and understanding. I cannot say how grateful I am.

Mum was moved from her beautiful 4 bedroomed detached house into Timken Grange on June 1st 2022. Mum and I had visited the home on two occasions to get a feel for it and both times fell in love with the place and the people working there. I live and work abroad so felt helpless when Mum needed to transition
into the home which she did with the help of her neighbour and a carer. From the moment she arrived in Timken Grange, everything has been just wonderful. The manager always has time for both Mum and myself especially when I have hundreds of questions and all the staff are so welcoming and friendly when both me and my teenage sons arrive to visit Mum. I have had a private meeting with the manager to set up phone calls between Mum and me when I return back to Cambodia and again she took the time to go through the information I wanted to share with her concerning Mum. I would just like to thank you all for such a wonderful job you all do taking care of my Mum.

In the short time that Mum has been in your care, we have been generally satisfied with most aspects of the care provided. There is an issue with the laundry, some items are missing, which is difficult to understand as every item is labelled and buttoned. The staff are always very welcoming, and on
the whole, show a good amount of care. The Jubilee celebration day was amazing. The staff worked so hard to make it a day to remember by all - well done.

My most sincere thanks to each and every one of you who have cared for my Uncle. You all do the most amazing job of dealing with so many complex issues. You went over and above the call of duty by caring for my cousin and his daughter when they arrived from NZ after an 18-month absence due to Covid.
You eased what was a painful goodbye to a loved Father and Grandad, always respectful but also highlighting the man that was my uncle. Thank you so much.

Good, staff are warm and welcoming. Mother seems happy and content. For the platinum jubilee, unexpected guests were welcomed in and in a calm, professional manner, staff extended the space and were inclusive throughout. One area that would significantly improve the overall care would be to make sure
my mother has her hearing aids in and that there is battery life.

Mum has been at Timken Grange for just over 6 months. It did take her a while to settle in, but now she is living there happily. The manager has listened to any concerns we may have had in those early days and took steps to ensure that Mum’s needs are catered for. The management and staff really do
care about the residents well being and we see that Mum has made friends, both with staff and other residents. There are many activities which Mum joins in with regularly – and she particularly enjoys singing along, and dancing at the musical events. There are also occasional trips out – she has even been taken to the local pub! It was a difficult task trying to find a care home for Mum, but I believe that we could not have found a better care home for her than Timken Grange.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.823)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.823) out of 10 for Timken Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.823 for Timken Grange is calculated as follows: ( (207 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 248 Ratings = 4.823
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Timken Grange is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Louise

Louise Mulvany

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

My name is Louise, I have four grown-up children and four grandsons, I have worked in the health and social care sector for 40 years,

I started my care journey when I was in the Girl Guides working towards my care badge, every weekend I would go to the local hospital and sit with the elderly patients and assist them with eating, drinking and read to them, after I earned my badge I continued to go every weekend until I was old enough to get a job in the care sector.

I started as a carer and have worked my way up. Since arriving at Timken Grange nearly seven years ago to take up a role as a senior carer I have progressed to medication manager, deputy manager, care manager and now home manager.

I am passionate about the care we provide, and our bespoke approach to each individual care needs which is provided by our fully trained care team. Whilst already having various qualifications within the sector, I am currently studying for a BSc Honours in Health and Social Care. I am excited to be utilising my skills and being able to further my career.

Being able to support my team, creating a great place to work and helping them embark on their own careers in care is important to me. I am driven by my passion for the elderly and providing exceptional care wherever I go. I am truly dedicated to the improvement and advancement of care techniques and delivering these in an environment that puts our residents at ease, thus allowing them to have their freedom and enabling them to live an enriched life.

Kelly

Kelly Tomkin

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2018

I am the deputy manager here at Timken Grange. I began my journey here as a carer back in 2018 and have worked my way up the ranks, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in the process.

I have a passion for care and do my utmost to ensure that all of our residents receive person-centred care to the highest standard. I am immensely proud to be part of the team here at Timken Grange.

I'd like to tell you what I do in my spare time, however, I have a very busy life as a mother of four children, so spare time is very rare. I love spending time with my family and doing the things that my children enjoy.

Caroline

Caroline Rielly

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2022

I have worked as a Business Support Manager at Timken Grange since May 2022 and previously worked as the administrator for another Care Home in Wellingborough for 6 years, so have been in the industry for 7 years.

I worked for many years before this in the property business, and when I moved from London to Northamptonshire working in the care industry was a real eye-opener but saw it as a whole new challenge.

The way I see it is we will all hopefully get to old age at some point, and will then all need help and assistance, and I think it is lovely to see the residents continue to enjoy and have a good quality of life.

I am currently very happy in my position as Business Support Manager, but if ever there was a position that came up to be a Region Business Support Manager, I would be interested.
