I live in London. A housekeeper lives in the home with me. I do not walk well and cannot carry very much. As she went to visit her mother in the country for Xmas, I came here. It was for three weeks. The virus interrupted everything, so we both stayed away. So I remained here for almost 5-months until
the "shut down" is over. Here, I was looked after well and kept safe and had the two necessary vaccinations. We now return home together, on the same day. It was all very good here.

My mother recently began a stay in Elton House care home for a period of much-needed respite care. All the staff welcomed my mother when she arrived and made her feel instantly at ease. The staff are very caring and helpful, providing for my mother's needs which are quite tricky as she has complex Parkinson's
Disease. The respite stay was very easy to organise, and the team at Elton House were outstanding. All the admin arrangements were taken care of in advance of the stay, making the settling in process much easier.


Given the restrictions in visiting care homes due to the pandemic, the staff have gone above and beyond to keep residents safe whilst maintaining much-needed contact with relatives and friends.

In the position of having to find a care home for an elderly friend, who lived alone, with failing memory, and becoming unable to cope at home by herself, we took her to visit Elton House. She was totally against the idea of moving into care, but by the end of her visit, she was so impressed by both
the ambiance, cleanliness, and above all by the kindness and friendliness of all the care home staff that she met, she decided there and then that Elton House was definitely the place to be! The staff were very kind and helped us with so many arrangements, both before and on ‘Moving in’ day. Our friend was given such a lovely welcome and every effort was made to help her (and her little dog!) settle in and feel ‘at home’. (Her little dog even has his own care plan). All the staff are very professional, good-humoured and caring, and always ready to help.

My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in February 2019 - though my sister and I had witnessed cognitive decline before that. We moved her out of her flat that summer and took care of her in our homes - also when Covid hit. In autumn 2020, after falls and increasing vulnerability, we decided rapidly
to move mum into Elton House as we couldn't keep her safe, nor stimulated enough. The team, with whom we'd done a detailed online assessment, responded instantly, and we moved Mum in three days later. The first five weeks, the end of December/the beginning of January were very hard - new place, big change, separation sadness, Mum didn't know anyone. The team were truly lovely, ensuring she always had company. In mid-January, she turned a corner and is just so happy! She has blossomed! Made friends, joined chat groups, danced, sung, attended birthdays, gone to the cinema, got moving etc. She tells me everyone is lovely; she 'has no complaints', feels safe and 'at home'. It's a joy and a huge relief. The care and kindness at Elton House really are wonderful.

My nan stayed at Elton House to recover for a few weeks, they got her back on track with her eating and really boosted her confidence. She had a great time getting involved with yoga and afternoon tea. I would really recommend Elton for a piece of mind.

My mother was in the care of Elton House for 2 years, until she passed away a few weeks ago. I cannot rate the care highly enough. She couldn't have been in better care during these extremely challenging and difficult times for all of us. The team of carers showed so much understanding and kindness
to my mother who suffered from Dementia.
Before Covid, we could go in at any time and be made very welcome. I saw first hand how each resident is treated as an individual and with respect. Every effort was made by the carers and entertainment committee to ensure that my mother was engaged with music and entertainment. The selfless devotion shown to my mother during these exceptional times was outstanding. I was unable to see my mother during her illness or before but I am confident that she was given the best of care and in the safest hands.

Further to the review, I left in July 2019, I am leaving a second review in order to give feedback about my aunts' longer-term residence and on how Elton House has handled the Covid19 crisis. My aunt always hated the idea of being in care and in an institution. Although Elton House is not the same as
her own home, she recognises that she now can't look after herself and the practical benefits of having cooking and washing done, and says that the staff are friendly and helpful and she is fortunate to be there during the pandemic. I want to particularly highlight the excellent care by Signature Care Homes to keep residents safe from CV19. From the start, before any government regulations for care homes, Signature Care Homes took risks seriously, and consequently, there has only been one case of CV19 and it was not allowed to spread - a big contrast to many other homes.

My mother was admitted to palliative care. Having spent 2 weeks respite here last year after her operation. She has a lovely one-bedroom apartment, the carers and nurses are wonderful. The meal selections are excellent with plenty of choices. My mother is being kept very comfortable. I would highly

Overall I'm very happy with Elton House, however and of course there is always room for improvement (see below).
There has been a high turnover of staff particularly in senior management and kitchen/restaurant staff.
Care and general level of service during weekends is not as good as during the week.
Standard
of food is poor.

My mother has been under the care of the wonderful staff at Elton House since June 2019. This is mum's home where she feels safe and cared for to the highest standard and expectation. It is easier to judge how a care home operates in "normal" times, but when you find yourself immersed in a global fight
against an unseen enemy that could harm you, you have to step up and react. Like all care homes, Elton House was in the firing line, but throughout the lockdown, all of the residents were protected against the virus with no cases COVID-19 reported, whilst the level of care remained at the highest standard. A huge thank you to all the staff who helped mum through this very difficult period and helped us celebrate our "queen's" 90th birthday in April whilst still having to socially distance and not being able to hold her. Tough times, but thankfully mum is stronger and more positive now we are out the other side.

Exceptional service in trying times. My mother is doing much better having been moved to this facility to start rehabilitation from a hip operation and illness. She is being treated as an individual with individual needs and may be able to make it back to independent living because of this. Nothing
is too much trouble and I only wish we had found this facility a few weeks ago when time was on our side. It is the perfect place to recuperate. I would recommend anyone recovering from an operation to opt for this service instead of home carers if finances allow.

From the cleaners to the carers, nurses, kitchen staff you will never find a more caring, helpful group of people. Receptionists are delightful. However the serving staff at meal times are so short staffed that the abuse from some residents is awful. Makes you wonder why they stay.

The staff are fantastic. The care is really caring. But there is a distinct shortage. The restaurant staff are run off their feet by excessively demanding residents.
There are very few activities and badly attended (you can't do anything about that).
Whilst the food is adequate, there are few vegetables
in the evening, only peas. That's bad nutrition. The bathroom isn't cleaned daily ie toilet and washbasin.

It would be unfair to single out any member of staff, as they are all excellent. From the housekeeping, kitchen, care staff, office staff and management, they all go beyond the call of duty to make your stay a memorable one. This also applies to your restaurant staff and nursing staff; whose services
I had to use during my stay.
If it ever comes to having permanent full-time care, I would have no hesitation in using Elton House (providing my bank manager agreed!).

I really enjoy visiting my mother, very comfortable no feeling of a care home it's always enjoyable. There is plenty of coffee and tea etc. At hand.
A lovely display of fresh cakes one can help oneself. The staff are great and very caring.

Having had to make the difficult decision to place my father, who is living with dementia, into the care of others and the fact that this was a daunting thought for both myself and the wider family, we tentatively approached the New Residence Team at Elton House. We needn't have worried, from the moment
of our first contact with Elton House the staff members have been helpful, caring and thoughtful.
My father is now into his second month and I can not fault anything, everyone is very attentive to my father's needs and the facilities on site are probably the best I have seen anywhere in the industry. We as the broader family can carry on with our lives with the comfort that my father's needs are being met and although he may struggle at times with his communication, I believe he is happy in his new surroundings.

I have been in the care industry for over 5 years and I am the main contact for families who are looking for a Care Home. I love supporting people, showing prospective residents our stunning home and helping them make the best decision for their loved ones.


Thinking about moving a family member into a Care Home can be a confusing and disconcerting time. Deciding on when it is the right time to move is a big step, it can be daunting and an unsettling time for those involved. I am always available to have a conversation about individual care needs and answer any questions you may have.


Having been through a similar situation with a family member who lived with dementia, I can really understand and empathise with every step of the journey families are having to take. I am passionate about caring and helping people to live well as they grow old and recognise the huge benefits of being in a community filled with love and kindness.
