It would be unfair to single out any member of staff, as they are all excellent. From the housekeeping, kitchen, care staff, office staff and management, they all go beyond the call of duty to make your stay a memorable one. This also applies to your restaurant staff and nursing staff; whose services
I had to use during my stay.
If it ever comes to having permanent full-time care, I would have no hesitation in using Elton House (providing my bank manager agreed!).

Having had to make the difficult decision to place my father, who is living with dementia, into the care of others and the fact that this was a daunting thought for both myself and the wider family, we tentatively approached the New Residence Team at Elton House. We needn't have worried, from the moment
of our first contact with Elton House the staff members have been helpful, caring and thoughtful.
My father is now into his second month and I can not fault anything, everyone is very attentive to my father's needs and the facilities on site are probably the best I have seen anywhere in the industry. We as the broader family can carry on with our lives with the comfort that my father's needs are being met and although he may struggle at times with his communication, I believe he is happy in his new surroundings.

A lovely friendly place, wonderful staff, nursing excellent. I would recommend Elton House to anyone and if I needed it I would come again. The bathroom is the only criticism as it was not set up for special needs but it was sorted out.

We had to move my mum in a bit of a hurry and the manager and the staff at Elton House were amazing. They have all been professional and caring throughout. Mum has settled in really well. Not surprising given that Elton House feels more like a five star hotel. That said care is never compromised. My
family all love visiting mum. Elton House makes everyone welcome, build a climbing frame in the garden and we may never leave.

Our mother went into Signatures at Elton House, Watford mid January 2019 until she passed
away on 25th April. She was 95 and had oral cancer which was getting progressively worse.
The staff looked after her wonderfully while she was there. They were kind, attentive and
treated our Mum with dignity.
We were told they would be able to look after Mum right up until end of life care was necessary and that’s exactly what they did. My brother and I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff who helped to look after our Mum until the very end.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to the manager and her staff at this fantastic care home. It will blow your socks off in terms of the environment and furniture and furnishings but that's not half as stunning as the group of kind, caring and fun loving staff who have been assembled to deliver
the kind of care I could only have dreamed of for my sister.
Only last Saturday we were invited to join in on an Easter family fun day which they held to celebrate the Easter holiday and we were not disappointed. The activities manager put on a day that was quite simply amazing. The day was filled with fun and laughter for all the family and I truly felt that these amazing people had extended a real warmth and welcome to us as a family that I had not expected. I don't feel like a visitor, I feel like I have increased the number of people in our family by my sister moving in there.
The food is fabulous and I enjoy joining my sister for lunch whenever I can.

I found most things satisfactory except in the wet room it was necessary to ask for a seat and grab rail. For me, the bed was a bit high. Although there are many armchairs, I found it hard to find a comfortable chair with a high back. Also, all the cushions were very bulky and hard.
Also, there should
be more exercise activities.

The facilities at Elton House are beautiful, from the rooms through to all the amazing facilities. More importantly, though all the staff are wonderful, kind, thoughtful and extremely patient, especially with my mother. They treated Dad with great care and dignity when he passed away and I will always
be grateful for this. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a warm, friendly and beautiful environment for their parent's care.

The care home is clearly very well organised and managed. Communication is clear and prompt in relation to all enquiries. Whenever we have raised specific issues or points in relation to our mother, the care home staff have been both helpful and very accommodating. This has been very important during
these first weeks of residence for our mother.

Further to this, and most importantly, the positive change for our mother since she has been in residence has been so clear and obvious for all her family and visitors to see. Having said for many years that she would not wish to go into a care home, having lived independently for a long time, our mother within a few days decided that she was so happy and secure with her new environment that she wanted to stay long-term.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.842)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.842) out of 10 for Elton House Care Home - Avery Collection is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.842 for Elton House Care Home - Avery Collection is calculated as follows: ( (341 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 399 Ratings = 4.842
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elton House Care Home - Avery Collection is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 95 registered maximum number of service users is 19, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been in the care industry for over 5 years and I am the main contact for families who are looking for a Care Home. I love supporting people, showing prospective residents our stunning home and helping them make the best decision for their loved ones.

Thinking about moving a family member into a Care Home can be a confusing and disconcerting time. Deciding on when it is the right time to move is a big step, it can be daunting and an unsettling time for those involved. I am always available to have a conversation about individual care needs and answer any questions you may have.

Having been through a similar situation with a family member who lived with dementia, I can really understand and empathise with every step of the journey families are having to take. I am passionate about caring and helping people to live well as they grow old and recognise the huge benefits of being in a community filled with love and kindness.
