My mother was in the care of Elton House for 2 years, until she passed away a few weeks ago. I cannot rate the care highly enough. She couldn't have been in better care during these extremely challenging and difficult times for all of us. The team of carers showed so much understanding and kindness to my mother who suffered from Dementia.

Before Covid, we could go in at any time and be made very welcome. I saw first hand how each resident is treated as an individual and with respect. Every effort was made by the carers and entertainment committee to ensure that my mother was engaged with music and entertainment. The selfless devotion shown to my mother during these exceptional times was outstanding. I was unable to see my mother during her illness or before but I am confident that she was given the best of care and in the safest hands.

Further to the review, I left in July 2019, I am leaving a second review in order to give feedback about my aunts' longer-term residence and on how Elton House has handled the Covid19 crisis. My aunt always hated the idea of being in care and in an institution. Although Elton House is not the same as her own home, she recognises that she now can't look after herself and the practical benefits of having cooking and washing done, and says that the staff are friendly and helpful and she is fortunate to be there during the pandemic. I want to particularly highlight the excellent care by Signature Care Homes to keep residents safe from CV19. From the start, before any government regulations for care homes, Signature Care Homes took risks seriously, and consequently, there has only been one case of CV19 and it was not allowed to spread - a big contrast to many other homes.

My mother was admitted to palliative care. Having spent 2 weeks respite here last year after her operation. She has a lovely one-bedroom apartment, the carers and nurses are wonderful. The meal selections are excellent with plenty of choices. My mother is being kept very comfortable. I would highly recommend Elton House.

Thank you for your glowing review! I am delighted your mother is pleased with her accommodation and care received at Elton House. We work with a well-known cooking show winner on developing our menu and I am so pleased with your feedback on our new Autumn menu meal choices being ‘excellent’.

Overall I'm very happy with Elton House, however and of course there is always room for improvement (see below).
There has been a high turnover of staff particularly in senior management and kitchen/restaurant staff.
Care and general level of service during weekends is not as good as during the week.

Standard of food is poor.

My mother has been under the care of the wonderful staff at Elton House since June 2019. This is mum's home where she feels safe and cared for to the highest standard and expectation. It is easier to judge how a care home operates in "normal" times, but when you find yourself immersed in a global fight against an unseen enemy that could harm you, you have to step up and react. Like all care homes, Elton House was in the firing line, but throughout the lockdown, all of the residents were protected against the virus with no cases COVID-19 reported, whilst the level of care remained at the highest standard. A huge thank you to all the staff who helped mum through this very difficult period and helped us celebrate our "queen's" 90th birthday in April whilst still having to socially distance and not being able to hold her. Tough times, but thankfully mum is stronger and more positive now we are out the other side.

Thank you for your kind review and compliment of our dedicated staff team that have worked so hard to care for our residents during these unprecedented times. Exceptional service in trying times. My mother is doing much better having been moved to this facility to start rehabilitation from a hip operation and illness. She is being treated as an individual with individual needs and may be able to make it back to independent living because of this. Nothing is too much trouble and I only wish we had found this facility a few weeks ago when time was on our side. It is the perfect place to recuperate. I would recommend anyone recovering from an operation to opt for this service instead of home carers if finances allow.

From the cleaners to the carers, nurses, kitchen staff you will never find a more caring, helpful group of people. Receptionists are delightful. However the serving staff at meal times are so short staffed that the abuse from some residents is awful. Makes you wonder why they stay.

The staff are fantastic. The care is really caring. But there is a distinct shortage. The restaurant staff are run off their feet by excessively demanding residents.
There are very few activities and badly attended (you can't do anything about that).

Whilst the food is adequate, there are few vegetables in the evening, only peas. That's bad nutrition. The bathroom isn't cleaned daily ie toilet and washbasin.

It would be unfair to single out any member of staff, as they are all excellent. From the housekeeping, kitchen, care staff, office staff and management, they all go beyond the call of duty to make your stay a memorable one. This also applies to your restaurant staff and nursing staff; whose services I had to use during my stay.

If it ever comes to having permanent full-time care, I would have no hesitation in using Elton House (providing my bank manager agreed!).

Having had to make the difficult decision to place my father, who is living with dementia, into the care of others and the fact that this was a daunting thought for both myself and the wider family, we tentatively approached the New Residence Team at Elton House. We needn't have worried, from the moment of our first contact with Elton House the staff members have been helpful, caring and thoughtful.

My father is now into his second month and I can not fault anything, everyone is very attentive to my father's needs and the facilities on site are probably the best I have seen anywhere in the industry. We as the broader family can carry on with our lives with the comfort that my father's needs are being met and although he may struggle at times with his communication, I believe he is happy in his new surroundings.

We had to move my mum in a bit of a hurry and the manager and the staff at Elton House were amazing. They have all been professional and caring throughout. Mum has settled in really well. Not surprising given that Elton House feels more like a five star hotel. That said care is never compromised. My family all love visiting mum. Elton House makes everyone welcome, build a climbing frame in the garden and we may never leave.

Our mother went into Signatures at Elton House, Watford mid January 2019 until she passed
away on 25th April. She was 95 and had oral cancer which was getting progressively worse.
The staff looked after her wonderfully while she was there. They were kind, attentive and

treated our Mum with dignity. We were told they would be able to look after Mum right up until end of life care was necessary and that’s exactly what they did. My brother and I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff who helped to look after our Mum until the very end.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to the manager and her staff at this fantastic care home. It will blow your socks off in terms of the environment and furniture and furnishings but that's not half as stunning as the group of kind, caring and fun loving staff who have been assembled to deliver the kind of care I could only have dreamed of for my sister.
Only last Saturday we were invited to join in on an Easter family fun day which they held to celebrate the Easter holiday and we were not disappointed. The activities manager put on a day that was quite simply amazing. The day was filled with fun and laughter for all the family and I truly felt that these amazing people had extended a real warmth and welcome to us as a family that I had not expected. I don't feel like a visitor, I feel like I have increased the number of people in our family by my sister moving in there.

The food is fabulous and I enjoy joining my sister for lunch whenever I can.

I have been in the care industry for over 5 years and I am the main contact for families who are looking for a Care Home. I love supporting people, showing prospective residents our stunning home and helping them make the best decision for their loved ones.

Thinking about moving a family member into a Care Home can be a confusing and disconcerting time. Deciding on when it is the right time to move is a big step, it can be daunting and an unsettling time for those involved. I am always available to have a conversation about individual care needs and answer any questions you may have.

Having been through a similar situation with a family member who lived with dementia, I can really understand and empathise with every step of the journey families are having to take. I am passionate about caring and helping people to live well as they grow old and recognise the huge benefits of being in a community filled with love and kindness.
