Review from John W (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 7 December 2023 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I have seen my wife suffering as her mother's dementia has got worse. Eventually Mother-In-Law had to go into emergency respite care and this home was chosen. She is now in permanent residential care and this home is absolutely superb. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the activities are very dementia friendly and they are great at persuading Mother-In-Law to partake. I do not believe that she could have found a better home to meet her needs.

Thank you kindly for your lovely review, this means a lot to the staff, I will pass on your kind words to the staff. We are delighted that as a family you are happy and reassured with the care your mother-in-law receives, and we are delighted she has settled so well.

A relative is a Social Worker. He has visited many care homes during his career and he said Grosvenor Manor is by far the best care home he has been to. It is like a luxury hotel. My mum has been there 6 weeks and it is clear how much the staff already love and care for her - as they do for all the residents.
The rooms are lovely but many residents spend the day in communal lounges socialising with one another and taking part in the numerous and varied activities which are organised by the ever-enthusiastic and energetic Wellbeing Team.

It was a very difficult decision to put Mum into residential care but, undoubtedly, she is in the best possible place.

Thank you Dave for this wonderful review, we are glad Mum has settled and that you are happy with the care provided, we enjoy seeing just how much your Mum enjoys the various activities. I will share these comments with the whole team, thank you.

This is a lovely pace, everyone is so caring to my mother-in-law. The activities for the residents are really good and everyone enjoys it. The home is so clean and the food is lovely. My mother-in-law has settled and loves it here. It is a relief to know she is so well cared for by everyone here.

Our 98 year old friend was admitted here after we became very concerned that she was no longer able to care for herself - wasn't eating, depressed and at risk of falls. She has been in Grosvenor Manor for a month and the change is amazing. She is alert, taking an interest in everything, eating everything she is given, enjoying the other residents' company. We feel so relieved that she is now happy, putting on weight and being so well cared for by all the staff.

As carers for our 98 year old neighbour, my wife and I had become very concerned about her condition. She simply wasn't coping living alone in her own house and the limited day care we were able to arrange was not enough to meet her needs. Having agreed to go into Grosvenor Manor for short-term respite, she has thrived with her physical and mental state transformed in one month. We are delighted she will now be staying permanently.

I can't thank all the staff and management at Grosvenor Manor for all their kindness and support in caring for my mum during her two years there. They did their utmost to keep my parents together despite my dad's worsening dementia. When he sadly had to be cared for elsewhere, they were unfailing kind to my mum, who missed him badly. The gentleness and care she received, especially in her last few days and weeks, was wonderful. My sister and I always felt confident that she was in very safe hands and would be looked after and comfortable.

As a family, we are relieved that Mum is being looked after so well, she is enjoying every aspect of Grosvenor Manor, she is eating well and enjoying her meals and really loves taking part in the activities.

We would highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone looking at care homes for their loved ones.

My mother-in-law has been in Grosvenor Manor for more than 4 years. In that time I have been impressed with the level of care she has received. The staff really do care for their residents and always engage with us when we visit, sharing any concerns or amusing the residents. I can't imagine a more caring facility.

Overall Experience

My mother came to Grosvenor Manor earlier this year when it became obvious she was having problems looking after herself safely. She settled well. I chose Grosvenor Manor because of the fantastic feel I got from all the staff. Recently she became very unwell and needed hospital admission. As she approached the end of her life she wanted to go 'back home' to Grosvenor Manor where she could be in her own room, surrounded by the care staff she knew and with her own belongings instead of being in the hospital. Grosvenor Manor staff helped to make this possible at very short notice, and she died where she wanted to be. I could not recommend Grosvenor Manor highly enough. The facilities are superb, but more importantly, every single person I interacted with there was amazing. Such compassion and friendliness and care. It's where I would want to be myself.

This was my first visit to see my cousin and I was delighted to receive such a warm and friendly welcome. Spoke to many of the staff and some residents. The staff are extremely dedicated and the care and understanding seemed exceptional and residents seemed very happy, with consideration given to their needs. Overall, I was very impressed. The entire building exudes warmth, friendliness, compassion and competence. Undoubtedly it would seem a good example from the top! The best place I have ever visited.

Grosvenor Manor was my mum's first experience of a care home (and during Covid). She has now become a permanent resident and has settled well. The centre is very well run and the staff are lovely. My mother spent 5 happy years at Grosvenor Manor. Sadly she died last month and I want to comment on the absolutely outstanding end-of-life care that she received from the staff there. They showed so much kindness and compassion for her and did everything to make her last few weeks comfortable. I was also touched by the care and kindness shown to me and to family members who visited her during this time.

Grosvenor Manor is a lovely care home, with a nice environment, excellent facilities, daily activities and, most important of all, staff who really care about the residents.
