From the first phone call made, to ask about availability, I felt I was going to be able to trust that someone I care very much for would be somewhere safe, with kind, attentive staff.

I called a friend who is familiar with many of the care facilities in our area, and she was able to say without hesitation, that Mountbatten Grange was 'a good one'.

All experiences of contact with Mountbatten Grange are conducted in a way that has made me feel safe and confident that everything is in hand.

My friend visited Mountbatten Grange, and couldn't get over how calm it felt.

The energy of the entire place is of being gently held safe. The beautiful angels (staff) that care so efficiently for everyone, have been observed in what would have been a moment of crisis anywhere else. - But here staff are 'on the ball'. - Some of them quietly slipped away, then when the 'event' was over, they silently dispersed, giving a little nod to the other staff that had remained in place.

Amazing love and care!

All the staff are friendly and caring, not only to my dad who is now a resident but also to us, his family. We have had wonderful help from management and cannot thank them enough for getting us through our crisis with kindness and encouragement. We are so grateful.

Dad is very happy, putting weight back on and thriving. His room is lovely. The whole place is lovely. I couldn’t recommend Mountbatten Grange enough. Thank you so much to all the staff.

From start to finish the manager and the team at Mountbatten Grange were fantastic. Obviously, you think putting your parent's care in the hands of others is going to be a traumatic experience - but the reassurance and empathy the team gave from minute one meant that it was not actually traumatic - we knew he was in the right place. He certainly left a stronger man than he went in. And a special mention to one member of staff, in particular, who did a great job working with my dad.

My dad has been a resident here since June 2021. After a long and hard decision, we looked for a home for him as he has Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia and we no longer could look after him. Mountbatten has been brilliant in settling him in and we have only been in contact with people who care not only for him but understanding our needs as a family. My dad has settled in well and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mountbatten Grange.

I find this quite difficult, my understanding from several sources is that my wife joined Mountbatten Grange in September 2020 and it's for sure she started as a tricky patient. The staff have been remarkable in their tolerance. She has finely settled, it has been 5 months and she now is happy and I am extremely grateful. I can only guess whether it is better than its competition. I feel lucky.

My experience of this home is very pleasing. My wife has been in there for two years now and I can't think of anything I don't like. Everyone there contributes a very professional attitude to looking after the people there, and they also make you very welcome.

First impression is extremely supportive and experienced staff. The facilities seem very good indeed. I feel the staff want the very best for the family members and my mother. They are very informative about my moms day and her well-being. The food looks very tasty and my mom seems to really enjoy it.

I have always found the staff to be very caring and respectful to both visitors and residents. Although it has been difficult not seeing my mother with the restrictions in place, I feel the staff have done all they can to keep her safe and as happy as possible. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mountbatten Grange as a care provider.

Revolving doors of carers on the dementia floor so no empathy apart from a few focused carers. Shocking Management and communication.

Caring experience for my mother with dementia promised so much but delivered little, especially over the Covid period. My Mum was a resident for 14 months.

We were very saddened to read this review as we feel it is in no way reflective of the high standards of care, communication, and management at Mountbatten Grange, as evidenced by our Good CQC report and testimonials from other residents in the home and their loved ones. My 98-year old mother spent four weeks in respite at Mountbatten Grange having suffered both mentally and physically whilst living independently during lockdown. The care and attention she received during her stay were exemplary with attentive, committed staff in well-designed and attractive facilities. This included close monitoring of my mother's welfare at all times, prompt attention in the event of any problems, excellent management of her medication and regular efforts to involve her in the activities of the home. I was kept fully informed of my mother's progress throughout her stay and the marked improvement in both her physical and mental state when she left the home is testimony to the efforts of the team.

I spent 12 days at this care home in respite care. Due to the virus, I could not join in activities but was isolated in my room. The service I received was very good, I think full residency would be really worth it.

Our first experience in respite care and we've clearly started with a winner! From my initial contact all the staff have been warm, kind, knowledgeable and smiley. I had no hesitation leaving Mum in their care, she settled in very happily and very quickly. We're both looking forward to her next stay there. Exceptional!

Meet the Team (1)

Debbie Winwood
Debbie WinwoodJob Title Home Manager

I started my career in care in 2001 and joined the Care UK team in 2006. What really stands out for me about Mountbatten Grange is its homely atmosphere. Family members can visit whenever they want and are always guaranteed a lovely welcome.

My goal at work every day is to make sure every resident is happy and enjoying a stimulating, fulfilling life. I think the only way to achieve this is by making sure that each resident receives truly individualised care from people who’ve invested time in really getting to know them, their needs and their experiences. It’s also important to me that family members are happy with the care that their loved one is receiving. Getting great feedback from relatives is very rewarding for everyone on our team.

Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors, taking walks, going for bike rides and generally spending time in the countryside. Many residents enjoy spending time outdoors too, so we like to get out and about as much as possible, in the local area and also to the coast.
