Carpathia Grange in Hythe, Southampton is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built care home where everything is designed to enable residents to enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle. an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Having not gone through this process before but knew it was the right thing to do! We needed all the help we could get to navigate the situation and Carpathia staff were fabulous, from our initial contact probably a year ago when it was first open when we were only discussing ideas for my aunts future
to when all of a sudden she needed support full time from November 2020 onwards. Always at the end of the phone for even silly questions and even now helping me with support in the forms that need filling in. They contact us regularly with updates on my Aunt's progress and if any extras needed eg toiletries, which is so reassuring. My Aunt is incredibly happy and feels safe and is radiant, the best she has looked and felt for years! Thank you. Book my stay in twenty years time!

During the difficult period of COVID Carpathia Grange staff have taken care of mum throughout. Regular posts on Facebook allow us to see how mum is getting along with photos of her taking part in activities and celebrating her Birthday. I cannot fault the staff for her care and support they have given
not only to mum but also in contracting us when any concerns have been raised about mum's care.

I live in Australia, my mum resides at Carpathia Grange. I work in aged care and so I know what to look for, I am extremely happy with the way the staff are looking after mum, their care and love is outstanding! They keep me in the loop with regular photos, I can ring and speak to mum any time. Nothing
is too much trouble. With all what is going on, it is so reassuring to know that mum is happy and safe, especially being so far away. Thank you so much to everyone, the staff are amazing and I could not be happier with where my mum is.

They have looked after my Nanna so well. She went in not being able to walk after breaking her hip and staff have really encouraged her to become independently mobile again! All the staff seem lovely and one person, in particular, takes the time to WhatsApp me to tell me when it’s a good time to videocall
nanna which is lovely. The manager was very helpful when my Nanna had just moved in and we had concerns about a pressure sore that she had got whilst in hospital.

This is a beautiful home. The surroundings are pristine. The staff made my mother-in-law very welcome and she settled in straight away. Nothing was too much trouble. They were all kind, helpful and supportive throughout her stay. We felt she was well looked after and all her needs were met.

My Mum joined Carpathia Grange straight from the hospital and I cannot fault the communication, care and support provided to all of us through this transition. I can't wait for Mum to see all the facilities and meet new friends following her quarantine period. The staff went above and beyond when Mum's
glasses went missing and all are a very friendly bunch! Thank you for looking after Mum and us!

I cannot praise this care home enough and have no hesitation in recommending it. My father has been a resident since May, having been told it would be for a short while and palliative care only. When entering the home he was not eating or drinking but due to the hard work, compassion and nursing care
he is still there and we are so thankful that we chose Carpathia Grange. Even when we could not visit we knew he was in safe hands. Everyone from reception, management, nursing and care staff all deserve nothing but admiration for the work they do whilst keeping so cheerful and approachable. This home goes the extra mile to ensure residents and family are happy and kept informed of any developments. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

Strange coming from your own home with everything to hand, people, bells, telephones, cups of tea. Having to wait at least half an hour for a response or request to happen. Time costs money.. Glad to be back in our own home where I have little rest, but my wife is contented.

Cannot praise this care home enough. Since welcoming my nan last month, they have been nothing shy of excellent. We have received constant updates throughout her stay as well as pictures to show us how she is getting on. Although things are currently difficult due to not being able to visit, the team
at Carpathia Grange have made everything so easy for us as a family. They go above and beyond for their patients and it shows how well looked after and comfortable my nan is in all of the pictures we have seen of her. Would highly recommend this care home to anyone!

On first visiting Carpathia Grange in Feb 2020 it was only partially open due to being a new facility, however, I was made very welcome by the staff and given a comprehensive tour of the Home despite just turning up on the off chance. I was immediately impressed by the friendliness of the staff and
the quality of the layout and décor of the building which is very open and airy compared to others I had visited, more like a quality hotel or cruise ship than my perception of a care home. Residents I met seemed happy and comfortable with the surroundings and there appeared to be a good selection of activities for them to be involved with if they wished. The menus were impressive and the dining areas and café inviting as were the socialising areas, including a cinema and cocktail bar. Not what I expected at all. On the practical side, the nursing station on each floor was very centralised to give quick access to all rooms. The result being I completed an application form for my Aunt.

We felt like the staff were looking down on us. They are slow to inform the family of what is currently happening.
They would get frustrated with us when my dad would say on the phone he wasn't feeling very well and we would ask if they would check on him, which we had to do as unable to enter the
home ourselves. When he was angry they rang us, give him the phone, and leave the room.
When we saw him for a visit he looked messy and unshaven. We also had to ask multiple times for them to bring him a jumper.
They cancelled two of our visits. The first one they claimed it was because of a potential COVID outbreak in the home but then when using the taxi service I work for the staff had to be prompted to wear a mask when in the taxi (when was mandatory anyway at the time). This was a red flag for our family as I want my family to be cared for by people who keep up to date with and follow current guidance, not that are either don't know or don't follow it.
There were two members of good staff.

We were quite shocked by your words, as we feel this is not at all representative of the home or the team at Carpathia Grange, and speaking to the home manager I understand that you did not raise any of these issues with her and had only given positive feedback when asked. We would always recommend and hope that if anyone had any concerns, questions or suggestions, that they would discuss these with the manager or one of the team, so we can do our best to rectify and help. In regards to masks, our team have access to PPE and have full training and strict guidance on its use. Although I’m very saddened to hear your comments, we are very proud of the strong team we have at the home, and we feel our other excellent feedback from other residents and their families speaks for itself.

Our old friend had over the last year become increasingly frail. A diagnosis of dementia meant that he did not always remember to take his medication, and was not interested in looking after himself, and was becoming confused with tasks needed to continue living independently.
We visited Carpathia
Grange, Hythe in February. This was with a view to our friend having a period of ' Respite', as up to this point our friend did not think he needed care! Two weeks respite was prolonged to a further two weeks, after which our friend readily agreed to stay. Carpathia Grange became his home.
Since then, he has settled and become one of the homes 'Characters'. We are very happy to have the knowledge that he is happy, cared for, and safe during these uncertain times.

My mother has dementia and went into a care home 15 months ago. Recently the care home found they could no longer meet her needs and asked me to find another home for her. When I contacted Carpathia Grange they did everything they could to help me sort things out and make the transition for my mother
as smooth as possible. Wonderful staff, friendly and helpful.

Mum being admitted in the middle of the Covid lockdown was a real worry, however, all of the staff members I have dealt with have been so cooperative and helpful, their professionalism, genuine care and understanding have been wonderful.
Mum does not fully understand the magnitude and consequences
of Covid and sadly for me, mum suffers from agoraphobia so would not agree to any visits in the gardens and yet despite this, the staff could not be more understanding and helpful especially in keeping dialogue and communications open.
Although I have only viewed Carpathia Grange from the entrance it certainly looks more like a lovely hotel than a care home and this must have such a positive impact on mum’s wellbeing.
A very big thank you to all of the staff at Carpathia Grange for looking after mum so well.

My Mum has been at the home since July she has Alzheimer's and was not coping during lockdown. I am amazed at how well she has settled in as she was very independent. The care she has received has been brilliant and she now seems so content and happy which is such a contrast to her last few months living
home alone, I put that down to the care she is receiving she would definitely tell us if she was not happy! Feel very lucky to have got Mum a place at Carpathia.

Mum's home has been Carpathia Grange for a while now, she is very settled and happy in beautiful surroundings. We have a terrific team at Carpathia Grange. I started working here in 2020 and have progressed from Team Leader to Unit Manager, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager.


We all work incredibly hard, and I am proud of what we have achieved. So far, we have received gold standard framework accreditation, which shows that we consistently deliver high-quality end-of-life care when needed.


We have also achieved VIPS accreditation, which focuses on high-quality person-centred care for residents living with dementia. Both demonstrate our commitment to residents, ensuring we make a real difference to those we support.


As a Home Manager, it’s important to have good communication skills, be transparent and have a vision for high standards. As a leader, you also need to be positive and approachable; it is my role to provide help and support to colleagues as well as residents.


My favourite part of working here is ensuring all residents enjoy being at Carpathia Grange. We create happy memories and actively nurture healthy lifestyles. Seeing smiles on the lovely faces of residents makes me smile too. I feel privileged to be able to make such a positive difference in people’s lives.


Outside of work, I love a spa day to unwind and relax. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
