Strange coming from your own home with everything to hand, people, bells, telephones, cups of tea. Having to wait at least half an hour for a response or request to happen. Time costs money.. Glad to be back in our own home where I have little rest, but my wife is contented.

Cannot praise this care home enough. Since welcoming my nan last month, they have been nothing shy of excellent. We have received constant updates throughout her stay as well as pictures to show us how she is getting on. Although things are currently difficult due to not being able to visit, the team at Carpathia Grange have made everything so easy for us as a family. They go above and beyond for their patients and it shows how well looked after and comfortable my nan is in all of the pictures we have seen of her. Would highly recommend this care home to anyone!

On first visiting Carpathia Grange in Feb 2020 it was only partially open due to being a new facility, however, I was made very welcome by the staff and given a comprehensive tour of the Home despite just turning up on the off chance. I was immediately impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the layout and décor of the building which is very open and airy compared to others I had visited, more like a quality hotel or cruise ship than my perception of a care home. Residents I met seemed happy and comfortable with the surroundings and there appeared to be a good selection of activities for them to be involved with if they wished. The menus were impressive and the dining areas and café inviting as were the socialising areas, including a cinema and cocktail bar. Not what I expected at all. On the practical side, the nursing station on each floor was very centralised to give quick access to all rooms. The result being I completed an application form for my Aunt.

We felt like the staff were looking down on us. They are slow to inform the family of what is currently happening.
They would get frustrated with us when my dad would say on the phone he wasn't feeling very well and we would ask if they would check on him, which we had to do as unable to enter the home ourselves. When he was angry they rang us, give him the phone, and leave the room.
When we saw him for a visit he looked messy and unshaven. We also had to ask multiple times for them to bring him a jumper.
They cancelled two of our visits. The first one they claimed it was because of a potential COVID outbreak in the home but then when using the taxi service I work for the staff had to be prompted to wear a mask when in the taxi (when was mandatory anyway at the time). This was a red flag for our family as I want my family to be cared for by people who keep up to date with and follow current guidance, not that are either don't know or don't follow it.

There were two members of good staff.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review.

We were quite shocked by your words, as we feel this is not at all representative of the home or the team at Carpathia Grange, and speaking to the home manager I understand that you did not raise any of these issues with her and had only given...

My mother was placed here during the pandemic. The care provided by staff and friendships built has provided much support in terms of helping my mother cope with the difficulties she has faced over several years.

Our old friend had over the last year become increasingly frail. A diagnosis of dementia meant that he did not always remember to take his medication, and was not interested in looking after himself, and was becoming confused with tasks needed to continue living independently.
We visited Carpathia Grange, Hythe in February. This was with a view to our friend having a period of ' Respite', as up to this point our friend did not think he needed care! Two weeks respite was prolonged to a further two weeks, after which our friend readily agreed to stay. Carpathia Grange became his home.

Since then, he has settled and become one of the homes 'Characters'. We are very happy to have the knowledge that he is happy, cared for, and safe during these uncertain times.

My mother has dementia and went into a care home 15 months ago. Recently the care home found they could no longer meet her needs and asked me to find another home for her. When I contacted Carpathia Grange they did everything they could to help me sort things out and make the transition for my mother as smooth as possible. Wonderful staff, friendly and helpful.

Mum being admitted in the middle of the Covid lockdown was a real worry, however, all of the staff members I have dealt with have been so cooperative and helpful, their professionalism, genuine care and understanding have been wonderful.
Mum does not fully understand the magnitude and consequences of Covid and sadly for me, mum suffers from agoraphobia so would not agree to any visits in the gardens and yet despite this, the staff could not be more understanding and helpful especially in keeping dialogue and communications open.
Although I have only viewed Carpathia Grange from the entrance it certainly looks more like a lovely hotel than a care home and this must have such a positive impact on mum’s wellbeing.

A very big thank you to all of the staff at Carpathia Grange for looking after mum so well.

My Mum has been at the home since July she has Alzheimer's and was not coping during lockdown. I am amazed at how well she has settled in as she was very independent. The care she has received has been brilliant and she now seems so content and happy which is such a contrast to her last few months living home alone, I put that down to the care she is receiving she would definitely tell us if she was not happy! Feel very lucky to have got Mum a place at Carpathia.

Mum's home has been Carpathia Grange for a while now, she is very settled and happy in beautiful surroundings. The staff at all levels are so caring and professional and are working so hard during the Covid19 pandemic to keep everyone, residents and staff safe. Without doubt, we made the right choice when choosing Carpathia Grange.

Carpathia Grange is a very new beautifully appointed care home, the staff and volunteers are all very professional and caring for all the individual residents, my mother has improved greatly since becoming a resident after a fall and her strength and ability has grown, she speaks highly of the staff especially the chef!

It would be lovely to join her one day for lunch and we all hope that once this terrible time is over the residents and relatives can once more enjoy each other and the facilities at Carpathia.

The care my dad has received at Carpathia Grange has been outstanding. The home itself is superb, and my dad's room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. They even ordered him an extra-long bed due to his height. The staff are kind, compassionate and supportive both to the residents and to their relatives as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Carpathia as a care home and am extremely glad we chose them as my Dads care provider.

My mother-in-law joined Carpathia Grange during the pandemic. We had only ween the reception area before, so can't comment on the rooms. The staff and care they gave her was fantastic and she has settled in very well indeed after being there only 5 weeks. They have all worked really hard to make her feel wanted and I cannot praise them enough for their care and keeping us very well informed during this unfortunate time. A big thank you to all.

I arranged for my aunt to go to Carpathia Grange for an initial period of three weeks, but what a lovely place. She is so happy there with her new friends that she will not be going back to live by herself. The staff are amazing, so supportive and friendly, Whatapp is used as a communication tool during Covid restrictions which has meant we have remained in contact. I also get sent photos of her joining in the social life. Cannot wait to be able to go into the restaurant to join her for lunch. Thank you so much to all the staff who have not only supported my aunt but also myself through what can be a difficult transition period.

I decided that Carpathia Lodge was the best place to look after my aged uncle who was not able to look after himself and in grave danger from falls etc. The improvement in his health and wellbeing has been remarkable - so much so that I decided that my mother, his sister, should also move here. I feel confident that the excellent staff, food and facilities will do the same for her.

I cannot recommend Carpathia Grange highly enough. My mum went there for a few weeks to be cared for after an operation, and the care she received was excellent. All the staff without exception were welcoming, friendly, caring and highly professional in everything they did. The facilities are superb, the rooms are very comfortable and the decor is lovely. My mum was very well looked after and she enjoyed her stay there. She would not hesitate to return there if the need ever arose.

It became apparent following a recent hospital admission that my father could no longer manage living on his own so we approached a number of nursing homes to identify a suitable place for him, including Carpathia Grange. I cannot fault the superb service that my father and I have received from all of the staff at Carpathia Grange during this process. The manager who assisted us initially was, throughout such a support in every possible way. She has given guidance and help way beyond her remit and continues to do so now my father is a resident. The purpose-built facilities are very impressive, and there is a really positive, inclusive atmosphere. The team have been very attentive to my father’s needs and this along with the excellent food has meant my father has settled well and he is fitter and stronger after only two weeks. Thank you.

Jodie Lavers
Jodie LaversJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

We have a terrific team at Carpathia Grange. I started working here in 2020 and have progressed from Team Leader to Unit Manager, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager.

We all work incredibly hard, and I am proud of what we have achieved. So far, we have received gold standard framework accreditation, which shows that we consistently deliver high-quality end-of-life care when needed.

We have also achieved VIPS accreditation, which focuses on high-quality person-centred care for residents living with dementia. Both demonstrate our commitment to residents, ensuring we make a real difference to those we support.

As a Home Manager, it’s important to have good communication skills, be transparent and have a vision for high standards. As a leader, you also need to be positive and approachable; it is my role to provide help and support to colleagues as well as residents.

My favourite part of working here is ensuring all residents enjoy being at Carpathia Grange. We create happy memories and actively nurture healthy lifestyles. Seeing smiles on the lovely faces of residents makes me smile too. I feel privileged to be able to make such a positive difference in people’s lives.

Outside of work, I love a spa day to unwind and relax. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
