My aunty was in Rivermede court for 15 months, she had severe dementia. She settled quickly and took to all of the staff, who were all kind and lovely to her. They really do care about their residents. There are lots of activities and while my aunty could not tell us all the things she had done, we
would see evidence of the arts and crafts and photographs from days out.
She had a lovely room, the home is decorated beautifully. If there were any issues that we had when we raised them they were dealt with quickly by the team. We were always updated on her welfare and if there were any little changes to her health we would get a call.
Sadly she passed away last month but the love and care she received in her final weeks from the team was wonderful. It is a great care home and I would not hesitate to put any one of my family in there.

My 96-year-old mum has been a resident at Rivermede for the past two years, and she seems so happy and content. The staff are lovely, the food is excellent, and the home is like a five-star hotel. It gives me total peace of mind to know that she is happy and well looked after.

This is my first experience of a care home for my dad and it's as wonderful as it could be. The facilities, food etc are great but the care my dad receives is outstanding. He is loved by so many of the carers as if he were their own dad, which I find incredible! This brings such comfort to me and my
family at a difficult time when we are unable to care for him at home. Thank you and God bless you all!

Mum arrived in January 2023. Very warm and friendly welcome, and the handyman put family pictures up on the walls. Even a vase of flowers on the dresser. The staff are kind and genuinely warm towards the residents. Lovely activities are planned for each day both in the care home and outside. The residents
want nothing if they request it. Mum loves it there.

A very well-organised and caring care home. Receptionists are very polite and well organised, always introduce themselves and speak to me by my personal name. All rooms are en-suite and scrupulously clean. Laundry system extremely efficient - taken each morning, returned in the afternoon. Carers are
very compassionate and well organised. A peaceful atmosphere. Food cooked on premises with a varied menu. Pleasant garden to the rear of premises adequate parking. Residents are encouraged to join in activities which are varied. Trips out are organised for those who are able to go on them.

My husband entered Rivermede in October 2021 and was a resident until admitted to into hospital at the end of August. Whenever I visited he seemed well looked after and had put on weight because he ate all the meals! His room was pleasant and overlooked the garden. The monthly bulletin showed that he
was participating in events and going out in the minivan. The staff were very caring and welcoming whenever I visited. Although he had dementia at least he seemed to enjoy the last months of his life. Thank you to all the staff that made this possible.

As POA of a recently deceased resident of Rivermede Care Home, I have nothing but praise for the care and dignity that was given to my charge during his 3 year stay at Rivermede. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and on those occasions where I arrived unannounced and went to his room a member
of staff was often with him and I could see he was very well cared for. The facility is very clean and fresh and given my charge actually gained a little weight during his stay, I believe the food is well prepared and served.
I know Rivermede is not an inexpensive option, but I do believe that for my charge it was certainly value for money considering the care and attention he received during his stay.
Finally, a big thank you to his care team whom I thought were excellent.

My mother has Alzheimer's which was diagnosed during a lockdown and during 2021, we realised we would need care much earlier than we thought. Looking at homes was a really daunting experience and felt like we didn't know what questions to ask. Visiting Rivermede made us realise how different the approach
is (and those who start talking about their shareholders and parent companies before they have even asked you about your parent are to be avoided) as they wanted to know who and how she was, where things were and how fast we needed to move. In our case, it was within days. Looking back, it was amazing how things were organised and the contact from the team during the whole process helped me take a breath for the first time in months. My siblings and I felt at ease especially in the middle of covid. Nearly six months on and we cannot fault the care and our mother is well and safe. Our thanks to the whole team and the other amazing staff.
Reply from Candice O'Neill, General Manager at Rivermede Court Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words and for trusting in us to support and care for your mother - we really do appreciate it. My mum has been in Rivermede, Egham, for over a year and I have to say that all the effort the carers make to keep the residents entertained and mentally stimulated is amazing. They organise games, quizzes and arrange for outside entertainers, such as singers or piano players to come to the home. They
make a special effort to mark relevant events such as Remembrance Sunday, Valentine’s Day, Yorkshire pudding day, the National Blood Transfusion day; there have been many others,
Every day they have a fantastic tea, with freshly made individual cakes.
The choice of food available is great and the chef is aware of everyone’s likes and dislikes and remembers them too!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.874)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.874) out of 10 for Rivermede Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.874 for Rivermede Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (433 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 491 Ratings = 4.874
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rivermede Court Care Home is based on 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 41 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator Joined: 2019

What I Do
As the Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator at Rivermede Court, my role is to create a vibrant and inclusive activities programme that brings joy, stimulation, and connection to our residents. I design and lead a variety of events and experiences that support emotional, mental, and physical well-being—with fun being the most essential ingredient.

In addition to organising meaningful activities within the home, I also arrange regular outings to local attractions and community events. These excursions help residents maintain social connections and enjoy new experiences outside the home. Every activity I plan is centred on enriching daily life, encouraging engagement, and ensuring every resident feels valued and involved.

My Experience
Although I am a qualified hairdresser by trade, my true passion has always been working with people—and for the past 20 years, I’ve dedicated my career to doing just that. My journey began as an au pair and evolved into roles such as teaching assistant and Cub Scout leader, where I developed a deep appreciation for nurturing wellbeing, creativity, and community spirit.

I’ve been part of the Rivermede Court team since 2019, bringing with me a wealth of experience in planning, organising, and leading engaging activities. I’m a strong believer in the power of community and have been actively involved in organising local events and fundraising efforts. My background helps me create meaningful, inclusive experiences for our residents that support not only their well-being but also their sense of connection and joy.

I was honoured to be awarded Activity Provider of the Year 2026 in a prestigious award organised by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), open to care homes nationwide.

About Me
I’m a family-oriented person who loves spending quality time with my partner and our two wonderful children—whether we’re off on an adventure, exploring new places, or simply enjoying a cosy day at home playing board games (which I never shy away from—I love a good challenge!).

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking, crafting, gardening, and staying active through my involvement in scouting. These hobbies reflect my creative, hands-on approach to life and naturally influence the energy and enthusiasm I bring to my role at Rivermede Court.

What I Do
As the Head Chef at Rivermede Court since October 2023, I take great pride in creating nutritious, seasonal, and delicious meals tailored to the individual tastes and dietary needs of our residents. With a strong focus on quality, presentation, and fresh ingredients, I strive to make every mealtime a highlight of the day. My approach blends culinary creativity with a deep understanding of care home dining, ensuring each dish not only nourishes but also brings comfort and enjoyment. At Rivermede Court, my goal is to deliver a dining experience that feels both personal and exceptional.

My Experience
With over 20 years of experience in the culinary industry, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to my role as Head Chef at Rivermede Court. Originally beginning my career in restaurants, I later found a true calling in care home dining, where I could combine my love for food with a commitment to the wellbeing of others. For more than 15 years, I’ve been living and working in the UK, honing my skills in both fine dining and specialist care catering.

About Me
I am a passionate, confident, and creative chef originally from Spain, with a deep love for food and people. My background and culture inspire much of my cooking, bringing vibrant flavours and fresh ideas to every dish I create. Beyond the kitchen, I enjoy connecting with residents and team members—sharing stories, laughter, and the joy that good food can bring.

When I’m not working, I love to relax, unwind, and enjoy a good conversation. Whether it’s experimenting with new recipes or simply kicking back on my days off, I believe balance and joy are key ingredients in both life and cooking.
