This is my second stay for two weeks at Barchester Florence Court Care Home. I always enjoy my stay as I am spoilt for attention by all the staff. They are all kind and caring - so helpful.
I may be back in November is my health allows.
Thank you to everyone.
The only fly in the ointment is the eyesore
of land next door!

I had heard the Barchester Florence Court Care Home was a good care home but my experience proved it was much more than this. I believe that Florence Court is one of the best in the area.
The facility was excellent, especially the garden, and the staff were always most helpful.

Picked up my wife after two weeks respite. She appeared cheerful, talkative and on good terms with staff - not something she is usually associated with. Appears happy to go back in a few months time when I need another rest.

My mother spent almost 18 months at Florence Court. As a regular visitor, I know that she was very well looked after by caring, compassionate and lovely people throughout the home. The regular events and daily activities are well organised and the social media photos enable family and friends to see
what has been happening. Management are approachable, helpful and ensure things run smoothly. Catering is superb, housekeeping of high standard and everywhere is kept clean and tidy. The rooms have a quality bed and chair and the facilities are well maintained. The multiple lounges and dining rooms are not too big which helps give it a family atmosphere. A special care home.

My mother has stayed at Florence Court for respite stays over the past 2 years. Florence Court and its staff (all staff from managers to carers and housekeeping) have made her feel very welcome. So much so that she feels it's her home from home. Mum enjoys the varied activities and especially likes
to feel useful, however, if she needs some quiet time she is safe and sound in her room with staff popping in from time to time.
For me, Florence Court gives me the peace of mind that while I'm away, my mother is safe and happy.

The facilities at Barchester Florence Court Care Home are beautiful and on viewing with my husband, who has dementia, his opinion was "it's like a five-star hotel". I knew then that this would be perfect for his respite care whilst I was recovering from a pending surgery.
All the staff were very pleasant
and all knew my husband very quickly. The manager was amazing and knew exactly what it felt like for me, being a retired nurse, placing him into other's care. I was very pleased with the whole experience.

It was a very difficult decision moving Mum into a care home but after visiting Barchester Florence Court Care Home we knew that it was the right choice. The management team worked so hard to get Mum placed into the home within a couple of days and welcomed her with open arms from day one. She has settled
so quickly, made lots of friends and is making full use of all the wonderful activities. The care team are amazing, Mum is treated with respect and dignity. As a family, it's such a relief to see Mum so happy and settled.

I have spent the last 10 years living with my daughter, son in law and grandsons but my health and care needs have changed so I moved into Florence Court in October. From day one I felt settled and safe. All my care needs are met by the most amazing carers. I am treated with respect and dignity. The
food is delicious and the entertainment team is first class. I can't praise the home enough.

I cannot fault the care and attention my father received from all the staff at Barchester Florence Court Care Home. Although he was only in the home for such a short time, we were all impressed with the care and beautiful surroundings of the home. We will miss going up for a cup of tea and for our father's

Mum has made amazing progress, now walking with assistance, engaging in conversation and putting on weight thanks to the kindness, care and excellent food she has received. She now has quality of life and I have peace of mind knowing that Mum has support whenever she needs it whether night or day. Most
importantly my parents are together and I was able to celebrate with them their 59th wedding anniversary and enjoy the most beautiful cake made by the catering team. The whole team are amazing and has made it possible for Mum and Dad to enjoy their twilight years together, safe, secure, loved and well looked after.

My mother hated the idea of going into a home. The manager explained this was normal. It would probably take two weeks for my mum to settle in. It took four, now my mum loves the place. It has provided her with a similar company that she didn't have at home. The staff are respectful and supportive.
The stress has been taken out of her life. She eats well, laughs and looks healthier now than before. She enjoys her time at her new home and that is all we ask.

Very poor care provided, numerous visits to complain about this. Hygiene standards were not good. The resident was terrified of one of the staff who constantly belittled them. It became necessary to find alternative accommodation as a matter of urgency.

The level of care Mum is receiving has surprised my expectations. The staff and carers are all lovely and have gone above and beyond to help my mum settle in, she is happy and calm, rather than lonely and frightened as she was for the last 6 months. The home is not like a care home, it's more like a
hotel. It's lovely to see how the staff are with the residents, even though they have dementia. They are still characters and the staff embraces that. I can sleep at night knowing my mum is receiving the best care possible and the most important thing is she is happy and has made friends.

I enjoyed my stay, it was a lovely holiday! The food was outstanding. The staff were very respectful, friendly and looked after all my needs. Florence Court is very clean and well looked after. My first time at Florence Court Care Home came up to expectations even though I was not willing to come to a care home. It was only because my son felt he could not leave me alone at home whilst he was on holiday. This had been booked before my husband had died suddenly and unexpectedly and I had been
suffering from TIA's and had been recovering from cancer. Therefore I accepted the wisdom of staying in a care home and in the circumstances, it was a good place to stay. I was very disappointed I was ineligible to go on the beach trip only once in both weeks. I also felt rather lonely and bored quite a lot of the time.

Both my grandparents have been in for some respite, my grandad returning a second time. During their stay they have always told me how lovely it is, thankful for the help received and how nice the staff are during my visits, I have also witnessed this. Hello, my name is Sarah, and I am the General Manager here at Florence Court.


I have worked in the care sector for over 20 years, and I joined Barchester Healthcare in 2021 as the Deputy Manager before being promoted to the General Manager in 2024 at Florence Court.


I am extremely proud of the outstanding and fulfilling care that we deliver on a daily basis. Enriching the lives of our residents is extremely important, and being able to do it in this amazing environment is wonderful.


I was really excited to progress in my career, and Barchester has extremely well supported me to do this. It brings me great joy to be the manager of such a beautiful home with an extremely hard-working team. Supporting our residents in this luxury setting is a privilege.


My door is always open and I look forward to continuing to support our residents, their families and staff here at Florence Court. I am also excited to welcome new families and residents to view our beautiful home.


My home life can get very busy with a 3-dog and 2-cat household and 2 children ... but I love every minute of it and wouldn't change it for the world!

After having my daughter in 2015 I could no longer commit to the hours however, I still wanted to work within the care sector so I secured a reception role at Florence Court. Since I joined Barchester I have progressed my career to Administration Assistant and now to Administrator. I am currently studying in my spare time additional business qualifications.


You will still find me in the corridors chatting away with residents and relatives, as I am passionate about providing a positive resident experience and the exceptional care they receive here at Florence Court.

Hello, I'm Sammie and I joined the Team at Florence Court Care Home in 2021.


Since working for Barchester Healthcare I have been supported and encouraged to progress my career and I look forward to the challenges and role satisfaction that I will experience in my new position as Administration Assistant.


You will still see me on the residential floors supporting our Care Team colleagues as I will hold a dual role as a Senior Carer.

Mirabela Vinkler

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2025

I'm Bela, and I originally joined Barchester Healthcare in 2020 at one of our sister homes in Hampshire as a Housekeeper before transferring to Florence Court. After a short time away, I have returned to Florence Court and also re-joined as Head Housekeeper of our home.


Originally from the Hospitality sector, I take great pride in my work and together with my team ensure that the home and the resident rooms are maintained to an exceptional standard.


In my spare time, I love to camp in our newly self-converted van with my husband and beloved Mini Dachshund, Toby.

Abigail Filkins

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2022

Hello, I'm Abi and I have proudly been part of the Florence Court team for the past three years. I started as an Activities Assistant, where I helped facilitate activities within the home, and during this time, I have loved getting to know our residents and helping to make every day special. Having been promoted to Activities Coordinator, my role is to plan, organise and deliver a wide variety of activities that bring enjoyment, stimulation, and a sense of community to everyone who lives here.


For me, the most rewarding part of my job is seeing residents smile, laugh and connect with others. I thoroughly enjoy taking the time to get to know all of the residents, learn about their hobbies, interests, and hear about their life stories. Every day is different, and this is what makes my role so unique and rewarding, to know you are enriching the lives of others.


Outside of work, I have a passion for travel and exploring new countries. I have been to over 25 countries and counting! I also love spending time with my lively Sprocker Spaniel, Maisie, who is the best adventure buddy.

I have been a chef for over 35 years. I started my career in hospitality by studying at Highbury College, where I achieved my City & Guilds qualification and a catering diploma.


I left college and went straight to London to work in a high-end restaurant in Knightsbridge. From London, I worked abroad for a few years, including in France, Italy, Switzerland and the Channel Islands.


I accepted the role within Barchester's Florence Court to give myself a better work-life balance after working many years in hospitality.

Hi, my name is Brad and I am the head of maintenance. I have been a gas engineer for over 20 years and I am now enjoying a new challenge here at Florence Court. The role is so diverse and no day is the same, making the job engaging and satisfying.


Outside work, I enjoy going to the gym, taking part in running events, playing golf and spending time with family and friends

Job Title: Resident Ambassador Joined: 2024

Eddie, is a valued member of our community and we are thrilled to have him to represent our residents. He is always keen to get involved with helping both staff and residents in daily lives here at the home. This includes gardening, maintenance, activities, he has even written and hosted his own pantomime!


As Resident Ambassador, Eddie serves as a voice for residents in communicating their wishes, suggestions and feedback to our staff members. He makes such a positive impact in our home.

Jessica Walker

Hello, I'm Jessica and I joined Barchester Healthcare in May 2024 as a Senior Carer at one of our sister homes in Hampshire.


I transferred to the team here at Florence Court in May 2025, which was also a promotion to Care Community Lead. I have worked within the care sector since 2020 and thoroughly enjoy my working life.


I take pleasure in the rewards that my role gives me supporting my team and especially our wonderful residents to ensure they live the fullest of lives.

Hi, my name is Debbie. I started working within the care industry after caring for several family members, in particular my mother who was living with Dementia. This was a true eye-opener into how dementia can change a loved one. This made me determined to share my knowledge and help our residents live happy and fulfilled lives, with a dementia diagnosis.

Hello, my name is Sasha and I am a Care Community Lead. I have worked within the care industry for over 8 years. Spending quality time with our residents is my favourite thing as well as learning about each of their unique stories. My name is Deborah, I've been working within the care sector for over 30 years. I have developed a wealth of experience and knowledge. In previous roles, I have been a deputy manager and a registered manager. I joined Barchester's Florence Court in 2021 and I am enjoying being part of such a wonderful team.

Away from work I really enjoy singing and dancing. In fact, I do that with the residents too!

Job Title: Hairdresser Joined: 2022

Hi, I'm Heather, and I love my time with residents. They always have so much to chat about, and it's such a pleasure to do their hair and get to know them all. It is such a social thing to come to the Salon and have a treatment; residents spend most of their time laughing! I am made to feel so welcome.


In my free time, I love to dance and listen to music. Recently married, I'm being given lots of advice from residents who got married before I was even born.
