Crossley House staff really do care about their residents. It was more than a home from home for mum, as she wouldn't have done half of the activities on offer there had she been home with carers.
The communication is good with families, and regular meetings allow any ideas and suggestions to be discussed.
The
Facebook group allowed us to see on a daily basis what was happening - she was photographed doing bingo, quizzes, meeting the alpaca, amongst others.
The layout of the building allows residents to be in smaller areas of up to 14 and this includes the dining room, meaning it isn't overwhelming when they first move in, and that group gets to know each other and also often their families too.

I would like to record my thanks to all the staff at Crossley House for the professional, caring and compassionate way they cared for my mother throughout her residence at the home.
In particular, I would highlight the way they dealt with my mother's final days and how they supported her and our family
throughout this difficult period.
First class.

Mum was a resident for 21 months at Crossley House Care Home and was looked after with love and care. She passed away on 25th January 2025 and was cared for to the very end. All the staff are extremely professional and I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience with Crossley House.
Special mentions for 3 members of staff in particular who were with mum when she passed. I will be forever grateful.

I have been here on a two week respite visit to allow my daughter to have a break and my experience of this has been absolutely amazing. From the top of the scale of staff to the lower scale, the dedication, devotion and caring qualities are outstanding. Their presentation and quality of their uniforms
and appearances are second to non and their personal contact with residents is very appreciated. I shall be personally recommending this care home to many friends at several establishments.

Very pleased with care by staff at the premises.
Father had a recent fall which they discovered and treated him for the injuries sustained, if he had been home this could have been a serious issue. Glad we made the choice for this home. Thank you.

The care and love Mum received at Crossley House was wonderful.
Mum lived there for about 9 months the staff were so friendly and caring and did everything they could to make her happy. There's so much going on every day as a lot of effort is put into giving residents purpose and to keep their minds
and bodies active. Mum released doves on New Year's Day stroked alpacas in her bedroom and won many prizes on the quizzes and bingo, she really loved the weekly baking too.
We were pleasantly surprised at how far away it is from the stereotype of everyone sitting around in a circle with nothing but the TV on (that no one's watching) to keep them company.
Her room was lovely and we could personalise it with her own things.
Food was lovely all homecooked and lots of it.
The staff from the management to the cooks, laundry, carers activity coordinator and receptionists were all stars and we can't thank them enough.
We definitely recommend Crossley House.

My wife had a two-week respite stay in June 2024. I instantly felt the staff were very professional, and caring and expressed love to residents. The atmosphere is calm, loving, relaxed and happy. The staff-to-resident ratio is very good so have time to involve my wife in activities. I liked the freedom
given to my wife to wander around the spacious home with a range of small lounges. I liked in the evening they didn't rush my wife into bed early only took her when ready. I have nothing but good things to say and fully intend to return for another respite. Finally, I'd say my wife's mood appeared more upbeat when she returned home.
Thank you to all the staff - first class.

Our dear Aunt decided in hospital she had enough of life. She was discharged back to your care. Crossley House was her home, and you are part of our family. For 3 weeks you nursed her, cared for her, and loved her. We cannot thank you enough for the levels of professional care received. You kept us
the family informed and have helped up signpost "managing" her death.
Thank you - from the depth of our hearts.

My father spent two years at the care home, he was very frail when he arrived and suffering from dementia, but the staff got him back on his feet, eating and drinking well. Whilst Dad always believed he wasn’t staying and constantly asked when he could go home, the level of caring and support he received
was constant. Unfortunately, he recently passed away after deteriorating, and the support that the family and I received through this difficult time was greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to three members of staff in particular and all the carers and staff on Willow.

My uncle has been a resident in Crossley House for the last 4 months - he has always been an anxious man, an introvert, and has found it hard coming to terms with his reduced health and mobility, and therefore has found it hard to settle. The staff have been caring, kind and encouraging and therefore
I have nothing but praise for them. The rooms are small but adequate, everything is kept clean, fixtures and furniture are new and well-maintained (apart from his chest of drawers which is a bit flimsy). Only mild criticism: overall a bit too clinical, could be more homely.

My mum has been in Crossley House for a couple of years and I have found the care she has received very good. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.825)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.825) out of 10 for Crossley House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.825 for Crossley House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (375 Excellents x 5) + (75 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 452 Ratings = 4.825
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Crossley House Care Home is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
