Crossley House warmly welcomes anyone in need of residential care, including those living with dementia, Huntington’s or Parkinson’s.

Located close to the village of Thornton, the home boasts excellent accommodation and facilities including pleasant and spacious interiors, private gardens, a hairdressing and beauty salon plus a shop and excellent social areas with a residents bar and dining bistros. All bedrooms come with en-suite facilities and premier rooms are also available for those looking for a larger living space.

Meal times are an important part of the day at Crossley. Residents can enjoy delicious home-cooked food with the company of others in the pleasant dining room or in private. Every month, there are themed meals for a bit of extra fun.

The home plans plenty of favourites into the menus, but also talks to each resident on arrival about likes and dislikes, and any special dietary needs. All dietary preferences and requirements are discussed regularly. Out of hours snacks and refreshments are also available from the Bupa night bite menu.

Activity areas support personal interests and a healthy daily lifestyle, while carers are available throughout the day and night. Regular activities include exercise classes, crafts, quizzes and games, cooking and painting.

My initial impression was of relief, having been in at least six other care homes that were not up to the standard of Crossley House Care Home. The establishment was clean and in parts newly decorated and refurbished, which was refreshing. My wife was admitted for just a week to give me respite and
I left her with peace of mind knowing that she would receive the best care possible for her short stay. A well done to the team, I look forward to meeting you all again quite soon.

Mum went to Crossley House in February due to her frailty and not able to look after herself at home. She has been well looked after, and unfortunately, due to her lack of sight as sometimes found it difficult to respond to her carers as obviously can't put a face to them. Her carers have been very
considerate and lovely towards her. She has had a few health problems since going into Crosslet, but her carers have dealt with them quickly and efficiently and got the help she required. I am more than happy for Mum to stay at Crossley as it gives her family peace of mind she is well cared for.

We moved my father into Crossley House Care Home in November 2021. We chose Crossley as my father-in-law had spent four happy, cared-for and safe years there.
My father had been reluctant to leave his own home but his needs were too great to be served by the care he could receive there. The transition
was quick, efficient, caring and friendly. He settled in within days and immediately began to enjoy the company of staff and other residents. His room was large, light and airy and had been decorated immediately prior to his arrival.
The quality of the food and the frequency of it really suited my father. He was always complimentary about it.
There were frequent activities, which he took part in and enjoyed.
Our communication with the staff was easy and friendly. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, but particular mention must be given to the deputy manager and the senior carer. Both are exceptional.
We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the home.

The whole process was amazing, from the first point of contact when choosing a home to dad passing away. My mother was admitted to Crossley House with dementia and after a series of falls at home which had resulted in hospital stays. In the previous few months, she had become increasingly agitated and distressed.
I found the care home staff to be very good with Mum. They took a number of steps to settle
her into the new environment of the home and to provide the reassurance she needed. They were really good about trying different things to soothe her when she was agitated. In the conditions of the pandemic, they made it really easy for me to keep in touch with Mum by phone. They were also really helpful around the little practical things, like advising me on what things that Mum needed when she was transferred to the home from hospital just at a time when we were in lockdown.
Sadly, Mum's stay was only a few months before she passed away. However, I was pleased that for her last few months she had been in such a reassuring and cheerful environment.

Our mum died peacefully in Crossley House on January 31st 2021. The end of life was made more bearable by the care and support from all members of staff. Mum had dementia, so the last year was made difficult by not being able to see her as much as we would have liked. We kept in touch by phone, Zoom,
window and Pod. Visits all well supervised by caring staff. As a family, we felt Mum was in a secure, safe and caring environment. The home is bright, clean and always a nice buzz about the place. Mum loved the meals, and in her short time, made friends with residents and staff who we know came to care for her in her short time there. We would like to say thank you to all staff for their care and professionalism, and a special thank you to two particular members of staff for their care and support in the last few days of Mum's life.

Our mum has been a resident at Crossley House since December 2020. Due to lockdown and the restrictions on care home visits we can’t visit the care home like we would love to do so we have relied on pod visits and FaceTime calls, all of which the staff do with pleasure. Every member of staff, who ever
you speak to, are so helpful and kind. They keep us up to date with anything relating to Mum and when we FaceTime they are on hand to assist if Mum needs them, always nice to Mum and with a smile on their face. The Facebook page is a great way for family members to see what activities the residents have been doing. This week we received a lovely card through the post which Mum had made for her daughters it had a lovely knitted love heart and a mother/daughter quote. It was so lovely and made us all cry! We can’t thank the staff enough for all they do, especially under these difficult conditions. We might not be able to go and visit properly just yet but we can’t wait until we can!

Care homes get such a bad press, my Mum went into Crossley House in December, none of us knew what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise. She got such a lovely warm welcome, staff put her and me at ease and did their very best to ensure that as much communication could be had between my mum and her
family, during the second peak of the pandemic. She was helped to settle in and nothing was too much trouble. She has been treated with the utmost care, respect and dignity and the staff are amazing. Her room is lovely, she has all the facilities she needs, and the staff go out of their way to make the residents feel special, whilst at the same time maintaining a good level of professionalism. Pod visits have been great (when allowed by PHE) and they have been scheduled efficiently. I have to mention the food, as my mum does regularly - it is top-notch! My mum loves it at Crossley House. Would I recommend Crossley House - yes I would, without a shadow of a doubt. Thank you to an amazing team.

I cannot comment on value for money as I don't know how much my sister pays for her care. Before the pandemic, I visited every week. I cannot fault the facilities and her care. She has nothing but praise for the staff. She is always dressed lovely and her room is always clean.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. They treat Mum with respect and address her appropriately. The home is always clean and odour free. Staff acknowledge Mum's preferences and endeavour to meet them. Food seems good, although Mum would complain even if it was cooked by a top chef. As we live some distance

My eldest brother suffers from dementia. He has been a resident for four years. The first year was difficult for both him and the staff. The perseverance of the staff with care and patience paid dividends and I am fully satisfied with both the service and treatment shown to him.

My mum has been in the home for over 3 years, she has been on end of life for a few months.
We as a family can’t praise the staff enough, nothing is too much trouble we ring every day and recently we have been able to videocall due to not been able to go in, because of the Coronavirus.
The home is
excellent, clean, and very caring,
I wish I could name everyone but they are all fantastic, so good with mum nothing is too much trouble.
I will just mention the activity organisers, just this week they had someone singing outside the home at the windows where residents could hear, this was fantastic for them, also playing songs to mum that she can reminisce.
