My mum was planning to move into Sunrise in late October, but as her circumstances suddenly changed, Sunrise were amazing and took her at very short notice. The whole move-in procedure was smooth and reassuring. The manager and move-in co-ordination were wonderful. My mum is so happy and finally feels
safe and no longer lonely.
Despite the current COVID restrictions, visits are enabled and encouraged. As a family, we can finally stop worrying about mum, as she starts to enjoy life.

My partner and I have been residents here at Sunrise, Hale Barns for over a year and I can say even before the epidemic, the life here is as perfect as anyone can wish for. Everything and everyone is here for the comfort of the residents and I would not improve on anything.
The appearance of Covid-19
has been handled as perfectly as everything else and continues with all steps being taken to keep us safe.

The standard of care my Mum has received has been excellent. The COVID-19 has been extremely challenging and both the management team and personal carers and staff have kept me informed on a regular basis. I am confident that Mum is safe and well cared for. Having never been in a care home before, I did not know what to expect. All the staff were always pleasant and were pleased to help at all times. Within a few days of arrival I passed out and was admitted to hospital, where I stayed for 3 days undergoing a variety of tests with nil by mouth. They stated
that I had low blood pressure but could not find the cause. Having had high blood pressure most of my adult life all my medication was checked and I am still recovering from this dramatic change. I have been well cared for at Sunrise of Hale Barns and am grateful for the attention received at all times.

Overall the quality of the facility is like a good hotel. The staff are caring and friendly. In particular with COVID, I have appreciated the help and communication I have had. The main issue is that the necessary use of agency staff on occasions has been difficult for my father as they don't know him

My Dad stayed at Sunrise for 4 weeks as his wife was hospitalised down south. The staff are amazing with residents and family and although we couldn’t go in to visit due to COVID they arranged drive-by meetings. Every member of staff cares 100% and made his stay so welcoming. He met a lot of lovely
residents also. Should he need care again I wouldn’t look anywhere else, this place deserves 5 stars in every way.

My mother has been a resident at Sunrise of Hale Barns since it opened over 10 years ago, and we have noticed huge improvements since there was a change in management a couple of years ago. The most noticeable change is that the staff seem to be happier and more relaxed and in turn, this has had a huge
effect on mum's happiness and wellbeing there. We suspect that this change in atmosphere has been in part due to the approach that the new General Manager has taken to ensure her staff are equipped and supported to offer the very best care for our loved ones. We suspect that General Manager's previous role as ALC at Sunrise Hale Barns has brought vital insights to the General Manager role. There has been greater attention to detail in regards to our mother's needs and better communication with our family. This has been especially highlighted in the way the General Manager and her team have made themselves available to family member's queries and concerns during the Coronavirus crisis.

We have been very happy with Sunrise and their care to date. This has continued through the current lockdown and their management of the situation. Mum has remained free of infection. I arrived at Sunrise just over a year ago with some reservations as I like to be my own boss in my own home, so to come into an environment with many others and have rules to follow was within my remit. I have to say, I have been most impressed by the running of the home, my bedroom and the staff. I
am fully immersed in the regimes, and I am actually running the weekly quiz. Sunrise of Hale Barns is an excellent establishment. They have handled the Covid crisis well. I feel the dining room is lovely, but sometimes some of the food is not always to everyone's taste. The care is good and when I was ill, (pre-covid) they were quick and efficient getting me into the hospital. Overall, since I cannot physically be in my own home, I am content to be at Sunrise.

My first year here was very different. Lovely weather and as the gardens are lovely and the weather was warm, activities and trips. This year has been blighted by the virus, but the management and all the staff are to be congratulated for the way in which they are cheerful when so many are sad missing

I have been a resident for four years five months and can say I've been satisfied with my stay. I came with my husband, he didn't settle but I am well looked after. I found it hard after his death, but found it was like a family. Everyone was so kind and did their best to make me happy.

My mother has been a resident of Sunrise of Hale Barns for three years. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly, caring and attentive. There are lots of activities available for those who want to join in and (in normal circumstances) there are frequent trips organised to interesting places.
The way Sunrise has handled the recent COVID-19 pandemic has been excellent and the staff have done a wonderful job in supporting the residents through a difficult time and keeping them safe.

Mum’s been in Sunrise for 7 months and although she took a while to settle in, she is now slowly beginning to accept being there... although she still has her moments! My brother and I feel she is being well cared for and we always receive phone calls should she fall or if paramedics are called for.
The carers who phone us are considerate and understanding of both her needs and ours. She has recently been in hospital and on her return to Sunrise she said everyone was being so kind to her. We were so grateful for this as we are no longer allowed to visit her because of the coronavirus. We often have to send email requests for mum and they are answered quickly and efficiently and our questions are always answered and acted upon. Many times when I phone her and worry that she doesn’t answer, the concierge on duty is always happy to go and check up on her. All this and the weight of the uncertainty of Covid-19 on their shoulders, we feel comforted that we chose the right place for mum to reside.

Without exception, all the daytime staff, whether concierges, carers, cleaners or whatever, are wonderful. Their patience and kindness with the residents are so reassuring. They also take time to know us, the family, which makes us feel very welcome. Mum regularly needs to go to the loo at about 4 am.
She presses her buzzer and it takes a long time to be answered. When someone does arrive she is told that she will have to wait until there are two people available to help, which is understandable as she is virtually immobile. However, that wait must be torture for Mum and embarrassing if she can't wait. I recognise that night time staffing must be difficult but I have mentioned this on numerous occasions following conversations with my very embarrassed mother and nothing has changed.

My mother has now been at the home for 3 years and is very content. The home offers many activities and she has found a new interest in painting. The long term permanent staff are excellent. It is a shame that agency staff are still required to make up the numbers.

I have gained an extensive knowledge base on care delivery, and throughout the years, I have also obtained a certificate in management. I re-joined Halecroft Grange after a seven-year absence, and I am thrilled to have re-joined a fabulous team.
