Do not live locally, but on every visit greeted warmly and recognised. On this occasion, I had to speak about a medical condition of my mother's with a senior member of staff. This member of staff was extremely helpful and sympathetic and I have confidence that my mother will be dealt with well. Yet
again we are having a happy visit and they have even managed to fit us in for lunch.

I am really happy with the care my Dad receives for a life with dementia and in his 90's. He needs a high level of care and monitoring. When a carer speaks to him a big smile appears on his face. His life is varied by activities, entertainment, trips out and good food. I am kept informed of his health
and any changes. The carers amaze me with the level of patience and kindness. It's great to see a mix of male and female carers too. The atmosphere is one of happiness and I enjoy visiting him because it feels like he is in an extended family.

The home is clean, modern, warm, beautifully decorated and furnished, like being in a very nice hotel, with a lovely relaxed homely feel, we knew from the first time we visited it was the right place for Mum and Dad. Care on Reminiscence is excellent, we had complete peace of mind they were well cared
for and supported with good liaison/support for us as family. As well as dementia, Mum had a difficult healthcare need and this was managed well. Staff always seemed kind, calm, gentle and very patient. Quality and choice of food and drink is excellent. Plenty of daily activities and residents are encouraged to be involved. We were able to visit at any time and made very welcome. It was during the last weeks of Mums life when she was very ill that everyone at Sunrise really excelled themselves, supporting her and us with the utmost compassion and dignity whilst she was receiving palliative care, meaning she was able to spend her last weeks “at home” rather than hospital.

The home presents a welcoming, friendly, professional environment. It is clean, well appointed and spacious. My father-in-law feels secure and comfortable. The positives are knowing he has someone when he has a fall, for instance; companionship of like-minded residents; help with medication; staff are
warm and kind.
He would prefer meals that are plainer, less 'spicy'.
We would prefer more 'formal' visits by the GP rather than the informal arrangement.

My father is a resident at Sunrise, Hale Barnes. It is a well run care home with a highly motivated team. Residents are treated with respect and all the staff know and speak with residents using their first names. The quality of the surroundings and rooms speaks for themselves. My father quickly settled
at Sunrise and made a new circle of friends.

Sunrise has given my sister peace of mind, so important for Alzheimer sufferers.
She is 87 but physically fit for her age and the staff organise trips to interesting places, take her to mass and have activities in-house to occupy the mind.
Her room is very pleasant.
The house has a lovely ambience
for the visitor too.
Before going to Sunrise she had had cancer and other appointments and would phone in the middle of the night to ask the time etc.
Now she doesn't have to worry, the staff are her memory. I too worry less.

My mother-in-law went into the home for respite but then was unable to return home. She was quickly given a lovely new room. The staff were very efficient. Surprisingly mother-in-law settled quite well after other failed attempts elsewhere.
She is now deciding whether to stay as she probably is unable
to manage with care at home.
We are very happy she is considering this as many other suggestions over the years have failed.

My mother-in-law is blind and very frail, but still mentally alert for nearly 92. Being blind clearly inhibits her life hugely in that she can't watch tv (only listen) read, do puzzles or generally do stuff which sighted people can do.
She, therefore, needs a high degree of assistance and on balance,
we have found everyone very helpful and caring. She is now being fed at mealtimes and this is essential to ensure she eats properly. One thing not so good is that she has her hair done then they put her under the shower so it's a waste of money! Please use a shower cap and combe her hair!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.926)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.926) out of 10 for Halecroft Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.951 for Halecroft Grange is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.951
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Halecroft Grange is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 95 registered maximum number of service users is 19, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
