In my experience, my husband's carers are always cheerful, polite, helpful, informative, kind and caring. So are those who perform admin duties, and the concierge staff. The managers have always kept us duly informed during the recent pandemic and have coped admirably. Kitchen staff work hard providing
good food. Recently though, I note the gardens aren't as bright and beautiful as they used to be.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Halecroft GrangeThank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts on Halecroft Grange – we’re very happy to hear your kind words about the care and the team here. I’m also very happy to let you know that, after a slight delay in sourcing new flowers and hanging baskets, these are now all in place in time for spring and the gardens are looking lovely and colourful again.

My mum only moved into Halecroft Grange one week ago but has settled in extremely well. It really does feel like her new home already. The resident activities are very extensive and varied which has enabled her to meet a large number of other residents and staff to support the settling in process.
Social interaction is critical for my mum's wellbeing and Halecroft definitely provides the environment that. Completing the 'life story' questionnaire before the resident arrives is an excellent idea and we can clearly see that this info has been utilised on food preferences, care needs and activity interests.
At this stage, we feel extremely happy with our choice.
Kind regards and thanks.

Mum was only there for 2 weeks respite care, covid prevented her from leaving her room initially, which was not great, but understandably unavoidable. The room was spacious, bright and airy and everywhere was clean. The staff were welcoming, helpful and pleasant and if I needed information were good
about getting back to me if the right member of staff was not immediately available. The food looked lovely. As my Mum was able to manage her own medication, she was allowed to carry on with this, rather than it having to be dealt with by the staff, which I felt gave her some degree of independence. Thank you to all.

Found all staff to be friendly, caring, and professional at all times keeping me informed of any medical issues with my aunt.
The room and care home is always spotlessly clean.
Had some issues with paying for care whilst the sale of my aunt's house went through but this was dealt with sympathetically
without any fuss.
Many thanks.

The home has cared for my Mum for over 5-years. Mum is blind and restricted to a wheelchair. Of particular benefit has been the mental stimulation she has received over the years. I am convinced that this has been one of the reasons that she has retained her health.

Overall, I have been very happy with the care and kindness given to my brother. Occasionally, the medical knowledge and communication have been wanting, but I have found the carers have been approachable and happy to discuss problems.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Halecroft GrangeThank you very much for your lovely words regarding your brother’s care at Halecroft Grange. Please do let us know if we are incorrect, but we believe the comment around medical knowledge and communication may be referring to the results of medical tests conducted at the local hospital. Unfortunately, although we do always try our best to get results and feedback on tests taken in other healthcare settings in a timely manner and inform family members of the outcomes of these as soon as we do, we often struggle to get through to hospitals and GPs (possibly due to NHS and team shortages their end). Where this occurs, please rest assured we will always continue to call and push to get test results as rapidly as we can, and will then always relay them back to the family as soon as we’re able. Thank you again for your review, and please do let us know at any time if you have any further comments or suggestions and we’ll always be happy to help.

We are moving into a time of greater freedom nationally, whilst still having to protect the older members of society. The team are doing a good job of balancing the safety of residents with the freedom they crave to go out and about enjoying their twilight years. Please keep testing residents and ensure
visitors show a lateral flow test when visiting. The staff are friendly, and caring and ensure that my father is well looked after.

My mother came to Halecroft at a very difficult point in her life and says that from her first night, looking around her room, it felt like a sanctuary. She still says the same. Light, spacious and airy, and always immaculately clean, she loves the peace it offers, while at the same time she feels very
connected to the village with an easy walk.
Her wellbeing has been helped significantly by assisted living with continued independence, and what she describes as the kindness of carers and management. She has especially appreciated the restaurant and the hairdresser and found activities within the community that make a genuine difference to her quality of life.
As her daughter, I have been extremely well supported by the staff and management team and will always be grateful to them for the help they have extended to me in looking after my mother.

Halecroft Grange (formerly Sunrise) is a high standard facility with generally caring staff, very nice rooms and reception areas.
However, the recent draconian Covid restrictions seem way over the top in light of the fact that the vast majority of residents, staff and visitors are fully vaccinated.
Not
being able to take residents out and severely impeding visits is having a detrimental effect on our mother who is a resident and finds it difficult to understand why this is.
Reply from Amanda Holland, General Manager at Halecroft GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to write your review for Halecroft Grange, and for your kind words about the team and the home. In regards to the restrictions during Covid outbreaks, the home (both now under Care UK management but also when run by Sunrise) has always followed the local and national rules and guidance from Public Health England (PHE), as all care homes should be doing. Although I realise that, during the short time periods that these are in place, they can be frustrating to residents and of course their loved ones too, it is important that we follow all policies put in place by PHE and the government to make sure we are doing everything we can to keep everyone, particularly residents, as safe as we can. I would also like to reassure you that the team in the home – from management to care colleagues – are fully trained to support all residents, particularly during these changeable times, including to keep in touch with family members using specially adapted Covid-safe visiting rooms. We of course hope that restrictions will ease for everyone soon, and will keep family members and residents fully informed as we have throughout. Thank you again for your testimonial and please do let us know at any time if we can be of help.

My mother moved in in early October. She can't find anything bad to say about any of the staff or the facilities. That in itself, is remarkable! She has a lovely suite with her own furniture. She's eating well again. Living overseas we, her 3 children, were all becoming increasingly alarmed at her emotional
and physical decline which had been exacerbated by Covid and no longer driving. It's an incredible relief to us all to know that she is being well looked after and as happy as we have seen her in a long while.

I can’t praise the staff and care provided highly enough. They go over and above to look after my mum in what have been difficult times for everyone over the last 18-months. It’s great to get back to visiting my mum in her room again and to be able to use the excellent facilities on offer around the
home; it really does feel more like a quality hotel than a care home. Regular updates have been and are provided on ensuring all residents and staff are kept safe in these strange times, and its good normality is returning for residents and visitors. My thanks to all the staff for all the help and support they give to my mum.

Mum went in to stay on a two-week respite and now she doesn’t want to come home! The service is second to none! It’s excellent! She was made to feel at ease as soon as she arrived! All staff go above and beyond and she fitted in with others residents very quickly, the activities cater for everyone.
She loves the choice of breakfast and dinner menu that she can choose from, she loves all the activities that are provided and she loves her room with a kitchen and en-suite which is cleaned for her daily, mum says it’s a 5* hotel and I agree! She's looking forward to staying there again at the end of May! Big thank you to all the staff that make the elderly feel alive again!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.954)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.954) out of 10 for Halecroft Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.954 for Halecroft Grange is calculated as follows: ( (227 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.954
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Halecroft Grange is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 95 registered maximum number of service users is 19, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
