I just want to say how happy I am with my husband's care he has only been in nearly a couple of months. He is well dressed and kept clean, the room is lovely and kept clean. The staff really care about him but also includes myself, my daughter, my husband, and our grandchildren. The food is lovely and
a weight has been lifted off our shoulders as we know he is safe and cared for, what a blessing that is for my family. I totally agree with all the steps for this Covid and we 100% per cent support the home. The Romford Care Centre in Neave Crescent came at the right time for us as a family, and my husband was always up the Manor from a little boy to a couple of months ago. The unit he is on is called the Manor Room 101 which we as a family know it was meant to be so we thank you all.
Reply from Michelle di Bella, General Manager at Romford Nursing Care CentreThank you for your review, it meant so much to all of us to receive this. I'm so glad that we are helping to create new memories for you and your family especially as the name of the community already has such special memories for all of you. I would like to say a big thank you for all of your support at such a difficult time for everyone and hope to see everyone together again soon.

I came to visit my friend today for the first time. The outside looked very clean, the staff were very helpful when I came in and I noticed how clean and tidy the whole place was. The rooms and day rooms were clean and very well looked after. I noticed the activity list for the week was all around the
home. I would rate the staff and home 100%. It would be a place I would choose for myself.

I found the staff very caring and kind, unfortunately, I don't think there are enough of them. I was told they are short-staffed. Also, it does smell a little of urine when walking in the corridor.

My Dad was in a very unwell stage of Dementia and Parkinson's and came to Romford Care Home from the hospital. Since being at Romford Care Home as a family we have not had to worry about the level of care he receives. All staff are welcoming, friendly, kind, and honest about my dad's needs and situation
and how they manage his high levels needs. O have every faith in Romford Care Home and how well they are meeting all my dad's needs.

We are very pleased that we chose Romford Nursing Care Centre for the management and staff are all very friendly and helpful. My relative has settled in as well as we could have expected and seems reasonably happy. Staffing levels are always a problem in this sector, the only problem she seems to encounter
is a delay in answering her call bell, which is for toileting problems.

I came for respite care after a fall. I have been well looked after by cleaners, nurses and catering staff, which has enabled me to recover my strength to return home.
After a week in quarantine, I am now able to exercise in the gardens with the activities manager and participate in the various activities.
Management have also been helpful. Thank you everyone.

Very positive experience. I was kindly able to arrange a visit to see my Nan on her birthday and all the staff made the visit so special. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for Romford Nursing Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 52 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.819 for Romford Nursing Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (503 Excellents x 5) + (98 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 607 Ratings = 4.819
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Romford Nursing Care Centre is based on 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 114 registered maximum number of service users is 22.8, which has been reached with 52 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My role as RCH Care Homes Business Development Manager in the South is to support residents and families who are looking at moving in to a care environment.

I feel very strongly about being able to offer the best advice and guidance about the facilities and services within our homes.

Job Title: Lifestyle Co-ordinator Joined: 2020

I joined the Romford Care Home family in 2022 as a member of the Lifestyle Team. The part of my role that I am passionate about is supporting the residents and being instrumental in being able to provide meaningful, enjoyable, engaging and stimulating activities to all of residents.

I started working in the care sector at the age of 16 and was a Psychiatric Nurse for 8 years, I hold Stages 1 & 2 in British Sign Language which I enjoy using especially when I was working with young adults and children with learning disabilities. I have spent the last 6 years working within a childcare setting but felt it was time to come full circle and return to my true passion within residential care.

The best part of my daily routine is standing back and seeing the joy on the resident's faces and knowing that I have made a difference.

Job Title: Ancillary Manager Joined: 2010

I started working at Romford Care Home when the home first opened 11 years ago as a Domestic Assistant. After 4 years, the opportunity came up to go for the Ancillary Managers position. I previously studied Health and Social Care at College so this has been a great opportunity to extend my knowledge.

I currently manage a team of 10, which includes 8 Domestic staff and 2 Laundry staff.
The home has 114 rooms, so my day is always full on. I love the workflow of the job and also the teamwork side where we all pull together to make sure the residents are well cared for.

Another element of my role is being able to support other departments, I often try to get involved with our Lifestyle Team and their events.
The most rewarding part of my job is listening to the resident’s stories and getting to know them all and their families.
