The nurses are very prompt in bringing my Parkinson's medication which is very helpful as they know I get anxious about it. The carers know I like an early start and are very helpful as they help me to have a shower and get dressed before breakfast.

My dad has been in the care home for a few years. He has been looked after well in the last couple of years, especially during the lockdown period of time. The staff were always friendly and helpful. They helped me install an iPad in my dad's room so I could talk to him whenever our family wanted. The communication was great. The lockdown policies were clearly communicated regularly via emails. During the lockdown, they provided multiple methods to keep family and friends connected. They kept a good procedure for entering the care home to make sure everyone was safe. We are very happy with the care they provided.

Thank you very much for this wonderful review. It is our pleasure to care for your lovely dad. Lockdown was undeniably hard for our residents but our team worked unbelievably hard to ensure that spirits were kept high. Thank you for recognising this.

My mother has been at Cambridge Manor for almost 7 years. She walked in at the beginning and has slowly progressed to become more and more dependent on the staff.
She is now in need of full nursing care. The staff on her floor (and previous floors) are absolutely outstanding. Clearly, they are not in this for money, as no amount of money could possibly buy the care and attention they provide.
These are special people with unlimited levels of compassion, empathy and connection to the residents. They should be applauded for their genuine concern, great attention to detail, a genuine wish to deliver comfort and utmost professionalism.

In the seven years I have been visiting, every day, I have never felt anything but a genuine resolve to deliver the best care possible.

My only issues with the home are that A) occasionally there may be communication difficulties because of language and B) laundry is not specific enough i.e. clothes can be subject to shrinkage.

Otherwise, all aspects are good. Staff are friendly, kind and caring and the home is very clean.

Review from Jim A (Great-grandson of Resident) published on 1 April 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My great nan was in the care of Cambridge Manor and to be honest she was left in her room for the majority of the 3 years until she sadly passed. In my opinion, her needs were not met when it comes to physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Eventually, she didn't even feed herself as I believe it took too long for someone to sit with her while she fed herself. There were appointments on Zoom missed during the lockdown, the most important being the one on mother's Day that was meant to be made to her daughter, this was due to her being asleep. Even though appeals were made to be flexible and complete an ad-hoc call that day when she woke up that was ignored which is sad. Although this home has good facilities they are only available to able-bodied residents. All pictures on Facebook are of the same residents time and time again, my great nan was only in one photo which was her 100th birthday. The other services like church, singing, music, films, hairdressing, food in the restaurant, or just simply being outside in the garden were not something that she enjoyed while at this home.

I know she was fed food while asleep/under the effects of medication. On her passing, there was no real communication from the home which allowed anyone to be with her during her passing. I believe she died alone with no loved ones around her which is very sad. On collecting her belongings, this was a very cold uncaring way of dealing with family who are grieving. I would recommend a different care home for your loved one/s to be cared for as at this one, "it's all about the money", they even charge for a cup of tea and parking to visit your loved one/s.

Overall Experience
Our overall experience of Cambridge Manor was negative.
The staff cared for my nan effectively for her nursing care but her mental health and quality of life throughout her time in Cambridge Manor were completely neglected. She was rarely taken from her bed or room until such a point that this was no longer possible. She was never given the opportunity to feed herself or to keep any of her independence which she subsequently lost along with her remaining dignity. Even her faith was ignored, despite many requests to visit the church services within the home. Before Covid we didn’t feel welcome and during Covid it was very difficult to make any contact.
When my nan sadly passed away we were given very little notice to try to be with her. After her passing, there was no communication from the home with condolences. She was in your care for 3 years!

When collecting my nan's belongings I was made to feel like a nuisance, no care was taken at all, you even sent back personal care items. I could go on.

Safety measures during Covid were very good and kept us safe. The home is friendly and happy, with groups of residents making friends and also staff joining in. Other staff are excellent and go the extra mile to make us comfortable. I feel safe, cared for and well looked after here. I am treated like an individual.

Mum went into Cambridge Manor in November 2019 so I haven't seen her very much since lockdown, but the home provided Zoom calls during this time which was really nice for us both to see each other. I feel there could have been a better introduction to the home for me as I wasn't really told anything about how things worked. I was shocked when I was told my mother wouldn't receive personal care as she had been angry with one of the carers - she has dementia. Since then and having moved floors the carers are much more aware of her condition, and kinder.

We found the home clean and inviting. The menu available was very good with a wide range.
Activity team were very good.
Reception staff good.
Garden unkempt and looked run down.
Most staff very good but there was a language barrier/understanding/communication issue which is less than ideal in the setting.
Agree with a previous comment in regard to issue with some staff members and their ability to provide care.

Complaint made and moved to a new home.

I have just returned to my home in America from a very brief trip to visit my mother who is a Cambridge Manor Care Home resident. Covid-19 restrictions on travel meant that this was the first time in two years that I had seen my mother in person and it was also the first time that I had the opportunity to see her at Cambridge Manor Care Home. I want to express my enormous gratitude to all the staff but in particular, to the ground floor staff for the wonderful care my mother receives and for their thoughtfulness in making my and my sons' daily visits occur with such ease. It was evident on my entering Cambridge Manor Care Home that this was indeed a very special place where the residents' wellbeing is always a central concern of the staff. Many, many thanks!

My mother initially came to Cambridge Manor Care Home for respite care after a spell in hospital. She soon realised that the care, support and company she received was far better than we could achieve at home - so she opted to stay. We are very grateful to Cambridge Manor for making her feel so welcome and cherished in her last months.

My mother-in-law moved to Cambridge Manor Care Home in April 2020 at the beginning of lockdown. It was a really hard adjustment for us all, my mother-in-law, us and the home. However, after the initial isolation period, where my mother-in-law was confused but very well cared for, she has got happier and healthier as the time has gone on. We have had happy visits and seen my mother-in-law improve in health every time. I now can say my mother-in-law is more happy than I’ve seen her in a long time and from what I can see the care is amazing. I must say I’m very jealous of the entertainment provided and look forward to joining them when we are allowed. I have never seen or heard of care homes that provide so much for the residents to do. This keeps their body and brains active. Well done Cambridge Manor Care Home and thank you for the care you give my mother-in-law.

Cambridge Manor offers wonderful care and nursing services to its residents. I would like to commend the team and its management for their dedication, commitment and competence, always striving to live by truth, love and compassion values. They had to deal with extraordinary circumstances and are coping so admirably with the Covid restrictions. With eternal gratitude, I would like to note their bespoke approach and recognising the importance of family members visiting and for enabling and facilitating the different types of visits during lockdowns. Since my father became a resident here in January 2021, I am witnessing consistent outstanding care and support for residents, superb quality of food and drink, a wide range of activities and entertainment – music and movies, crafts, puzzles and games, exercise, sensory and relaxation. I am so happy that my father is content and so well cared for.
