I had reviewed a number of homes in the local Sevenoaks area but found Rivermere to stand out. I was initially met with a very warm response for a tour which the host had re-arranged her own diary to fit in at short notice. Mum stayed as a Respite guest for three weeks as she wanted to experience this type of lifestyle. She was delighted with the care, the service, the food and the overall attention to detail and professionalism shown by the staff. Once we have sorted a number of administration and re-location issues we hope to move mom in full time

From the moment I first visited we were made to feel welcome and safe. My mum initially went here for respite care whilst I was away on holiday - every aspect of this, from first enquiry to mum actually arriving was handled in a kind and caring way with professionalism, efficiency and care. When I returned from holiday it was clear how well mum had been looked after, and how well all of the staff - including cleaning, catering and admin staff, as well as the carers, all knew mum. Every where I went people smiled at mum, knew and used her first name, and could not have been more helpful, kinder or encouraging. We have since made the decision for mum to stay, which was not easy and has had its ups and downs in terms of mums acceptance of this - but at all times I have seen first hand, and therefore been constantly reassured, that this is the right place for her and I know she is very well cared for and safe. Communication with the staff in charge, has also been first rate. Thank you!

Mum had some respite here a few months ago and was impressed enough to move to the home permanently, she also said the food is fantastic. All the staff are very caring and supportive and helpful if you have any queries or concerns. They have a good range of activities, beautiful gardens and lovely areas to sit and enjoy company or some peace and quiet on your own.

Excellent facilities + activity schedules with a really very high standard of food. But what makes this care home really special is the staff. Always caring, attentive, happy and supportive, they make the home an enjoyable, relaxing and special place to be. Mum has been here for over 2 years and now approaching 90 is in the best health she has enjoyed for years. The daily stimulation of exercise has worked wonders. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone.

Thank you so much to all the staff taking such good care of dad - especially during the norovirus outbreak which was not easy. And we couldn't see dad in this time - but coming back today I can see dad was in really good form and had been well looked after.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It truly means a great deal to the whole team. The norovirus outbreak was a challenging time for everyone, and we're grateful for your understanding while visiting had to be restricted. Knowing that you felt reassured on your return and could see your dad in such good form is exactly what we strive for.

Fourteen years ago my brother came to live here, the "Sunrise" Two years ago I joined him, choosing an excellent apartment overlooking a delightful garden. Services had not regained pre Covid standards but were adequate. During my residency standards have further declined, poor dining room experiences, activities of no appeal to me and too many minor inefficiencies for contented living. Management seem more concerned with appearances to visitors and inspection than customer satisfaction. Residents meetings do not serve the deaf and shy. No one from management or customer services talks regularly say six monthly to each resident, in the comfort of their own rooms, to gain impression of their living experiences and why if dissatisfied, they don't leave. My reason is my apartment, and the friendly staff, but the quality of service is most disappointing.

I was not looked forward to leaving my home but I was delighted to find how happy I was to have been staying at Rivermere! Everyone was so kind and caring and also helpful when I got lost! (leaving the lift on the wrong floor!)I had everything I might need in my room and all the food was really good so meals were enjoyable. I didn't take part in many of the activities because it was lovely to have time to read my books!

Review from S R (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 23 July 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister-in-law lived at Rivermere for nine months until June of this year. Family and friends were all very impressed at how welcoming and friendly the Home felt when we visited. A lot of thought had gone into the decor, the bedrooms and lounges felt homely, and there was a good variety of activities for residents to enjoy. We also noticed how kind, caring and patient staff were with all the residents. The Manager of the Meadow Floor and her staff were always very approachable and generous with their time when we had questions about how to respond to my sister-in-law's needs. We were therefore very sad when we had to move my sister-in-law to a nursing home because her dementia had deteriorated further. However, Rivermere's staff were helpful and supportive during this process.

On the whole, the staff are well trained and can be relied upon but more trained staff are required.

Is it possible? During ..... the staff cannot take a resident to the toilet and that is when accidents happen when a resident has to go alone. Unfortunately, one has to go when it's needed! One can't eair! as you will know as you grow older.
