My Mother is in the Reminiscence part of Rivermere Care Home. She has been a resident for about 3 years (2 years in Reminiscence). She is very well looked after by the carers there. She feels safe, loved and respected.

They are all very caring and she loves taking part in most of the many activities that are provided in-house and people coming in. We are also kept well informed and enjoy many family activities provided as well.

The carers in the memory department are kind, caring and display genuine care for the residents in all situations. The care and support given, to both my Mum and myself over the last 3 weeks, has been above and beyond any expectations I had. I have been bowled over by their kindness. They do an excellent job and I truly hope this is appreciated by the management of the home. They are fantastic!

My friend's mother was in the home for two and a half years. During her last ten days prior to her death, I spent a considerable amount of time supporting my friend.
The staff were fantastic. Their support through this difficult time was second to none. I greatly appreciated their kindness and thoughtfulness.

Overall they couldn't do enough for my friend or her mum.

Having heard great things about Rivermere from my friend who has been singing its praises. I decided to visit in February 2018. I must say I was most impressed, the building, grounds, facilities and staff even surpassed my preconceptions formed from my conversations with my friend.

Should I be in a position to spend my latter years in such a wonderfully supportive and friendly environment I now have a very high benchmark for others to achieve. Perhaps there'll be a place available at Rivermere?

The atmosphere in the 'Memory' department was amazing. The care staff sitting with the residents, often with an arm around them and laughing, singing along to the entertainer was beautiful to see.
One lady said she was horrified when they told her that her mother had dementia and would be happier in this 'unit'. She said she was angry, frightened and could not accept that she should be put in a 'place like this. Today she said she could not believe the difference in her mum. She had adapted to the smaller, more intimate surroundings, made friends and was now in a happy and comfortable routine which suited her so well. They enjoyed coming to visit her and felt this was so much more suitable to her needs.

The residents in the 'Residential' department were so independent it was like walking into a 5-star hotel. One told me he was part of the group that decided what sort of entertainment they should book. He was just going out with fellow Residents to lunch at a pub with a Jazz band!

My mother was accepted into Rivermere in December 2017 following a diagnosis of vascular dementia. The admission process was both professional and caring with her visiting the home and then being assessed in her home. She was initially in Residential before events meant that a move to Memory was appropriate, the change process was handled sensitively and without problems. Since being in Memory she has benefitted from the additional staff and is less worried. Her most frequent comment is "I couldn't do better than here", she loves the staff and the excellent food. As a family, we know that she is cared for and that the staff understand her needs, at the same time we are consulted about changes, this included a long discussion about ongoing health care with the local GP practice.

My dad has been happy since living at Rivermere and staff have always been friendly and caring. The staff are helpful and respectful towards my dad. My dad specifically thinks the activities on offer are well managed. The communal areas are well kept and there is lots of space for my dad's grandchildren to play when they visit.

Rivermere Care Home is an amazing place. All the staff are friendly caring and professional, there is always a welcome smile for residents and relatives. The staff are genuinely caring and concerned about the comfort and happiness of all the residents. There are frequent trips out all carefully thought out to provide a pleasant experience for everybody, there are daily classes providing stimulation and often resulting in fun and laughter.

The level of cleanliness is unbeatable, the rooms are beautiful and the food excellent. The staff offer support and go out of their way to reassure relatives and are happy to help in any way they can. During the first weeks of my mothers stay staff would often ring me in the evening to reassure me that mum was quite settled and chatting to residents, I was so pleased and really appreciated this kind gesture typical of the whole ethos of Rivermere.

I visited with a friend whose grandmother is a resident at the home. The home is warm and friendly and there was a great sense of family approach. The staff were kind and caring and all the residents appeared to be happy. We were invited to join my friend's grandmother for afternoon tea and this was a selection of homemade cakes that were delicious.

My brother has been a resident for 3 months and has settled very well. He has dementia and as his sister, I act as an advocate for his well-being as he is not always able to explain his needs. Staff have all demonstrated kindness and understanding towards him and a friendly and helpful approach towards me and other family members.

In spite of being in the throes of a major refurbishment, everyone is always welcoming and staff will always respond cheerfully to queries and requests. He enjoys the meals and the company at mealtimes, though it is always possible for residents to have room service. When the refurbishment is complete the environment and amenities should be ideal.

My mother had dementia and was moved by the management (with a number of other residents) when Sunrise of Sevenoaks received an unfavourable Quality Commission Assessment. Since leaving Sunrise, she has thrived at a new care home. She has put on weight and is SO much better looked after by the staff at her new care home. When we first went to Sunrise, there was a good senior management, but over the 3 years she was there, those staff left and the care standards dropped significantly. Do your homework before you use this care home and do not be hoodwinked by the 5* comfort, which is no good without the professional care of staff.

Everything is good for my mother who obviously at 94 years old, goes up and down. I get good amount of confidence from the staff here. I ask for water checks if i thing she needs one and it gets done, sometimes before I ask it has been done. I am very pleased that my mother is in this home.

My mother moved into Sunrise living in October and after an initial settling period has improved no end.

She has dementia, but has lost a lot of the anxiety. This has decreased and she is making friends and joining in activities which I never thought would happen. The care, facilities and treatment of my mother have been excellent.
