Rivermere Care Home was taken over by Avery Healthcare at the start of 2017, and the new management has quickly set about transforming the fortunes of the home. Rivermere provides residential, respite and dementia care.

The home also welcomes couples and friends who wish to live together.

Situated close to the town of Sevenoaks, the home has been brought into line with the group's overarching care philosophy.

Nestled within a picturesque landscape, the home provides person-centred care for older people and those with dementia and its associated conditions.

Residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the home's facilities which are available to them daily. These include cosy lounges and bistro areas which create the perfect social environment, a beauty salon where residents can treat themselves to a haircut or nail treatment, a well-stocked library to indulge into a book or alternatively a cinema room to a catch a film in. The well-being team host regular activities in the activities lounge where all residents are encouraged to take part.

Rivermere is an excellent care home with outstanding staff and good facilities. However several years of operating with reduced staffing levels have left a mark and the strain is particularly evident in the activities, catering and housekeeping areas. Taking account of the high fees paid by residents
there is lost ground to be recovered.

I cannot fault the care, kindness and consideration, from all the staff, shown to me during my two-week stay. The food has been exceptional and always well presented. I was sad I was unable to meet my visitors in the garden, but understand it was Covid rules!

I feel like my mum is staying in a high-quality boutique hotel. The lounge and bistro are excellent, as is my mum's room. The staff are excellent. I was so concerned about my mum going into a home, but I am so happy, and she is definitely happy there. I would highly recommend Rivermere.

My dad has Alzheimer’s. With my mum’s health deteriorating it meant she could no longer care for him at their home of 59 years together. As soon as my sister and I saw Rivermere we were immediately aware of its warm, caring and homely environment. Well organised and professionally run but at the same
time great focus on accommodating individual resident's needs and how life can continue to be happy and stimulating day to day. The staff are well trained, really attentive, interactive and friendly. It has been a very difficult time to start the journey of finding the right home during Covid restrictions but Rivermere made the process simple and less stressful. Our dad was made to feel so welcome, comfortable and safe from the moment he arrived. He has settled in really well. We are much more confident it was the right decision and relieved of the constant worry now that he is there.

My first impression was a warm and friendly atmosphere. I have found this is borne out in all departments. My husband first went for a respite stay but is now a resident as I know he is getting the best care available. I appreciate the special qualities required by the caring team to carry out their
tasks with friendly efficiency and always find time for a chat. It is made sure new recruits fit in with this ethos. Daily activities are encouraged and the programme offered by a dedicated team is varied.
Everyone at Rivermere goes the extra mile to make both residents and visitors happy.

My mum had a fall in early July and was not recovering well at home with me, not eating, fed up in her own company frustrated with her restrictions.
She requested respite so my husband and I visited the home and were very impressed with the Customer Service Manager's details to providing in-depth information,
life in the home, the great facilities and lovely rooms, garden, dining area, lounge.
The carers are all very friendly, helpful, and caring, cheered my mum up with chats.
The food choice is of great quality and my mum soon started to enjoy her food and put weight on. At first, she ate in her room but was gradually encouraged to attend the dining room where she got to chat with other residents. My mum also started attending activities and thoroughly enjoyed them. Her mobility improved, her mood and appetite.
She was there 4 weeks and says hand on heart it was the best thing she could have done to improve her all round mood and needs.
All family members that visited were very pleased with the care.

My mother is a resident in Rivermere care home. The staff do a lot for her by way of organising events such as sing-songs, quizzes, scrabble events etc but, as she has dementia, she has no recollection of these events when I see her. However, she is always happy when I see her either in a covid-proof
"pod" or via a video link. To know that she is safe, warm and well fed is a comfort to the family.

We are happy with Rivermere. The staff, in particular, are a great asset to your company; caring, cheerful and professional people, and my mum is always smiling when she sees them. It's been difficult to judge this year because, for the majority of 2020/2021, Rivermere has been in lockdown or restricted
access for relatives, so we are unable to see our family member under normal circumstances, enjoying the facilities.

Mum has been in memory care at Rivermere for about 18 months. Things haven’t been easy during this time with the pandemic.
However, the team at Rivermere have done incredibly well keeping her safe. Often working with limited resources and having to do a variety of jobs outside their day jobs.
Being
able to now go in and see mum is a real relief.
Thank you to all the team for the continued care during this difficult time.
The surroundings are well kept and inside is like a hotel with spacious rooms.

Seeing Mum each week has been great. I can see that the staff have ensured Mum is always clean and dressed nicely with her hair freshly brushed and styled before being brought down to the visitor's room.
Mum has been extremely happy with no moans and groans. This tells me that she is being treated
well and having some interaction with staff who I know love her very much.
It is hard to be reassured when you cannot go and see her on her floor with the staff but I know her well enough and the signs of poor care.

Very good generally, particularly the Covid liaison staff for relatives and the activities staff. Not has any face to face contact with anyone else in 15 months so difficult to comment. Not been inside the home either so cannot comment. Still too expensive.

We had looked at many other care homes before we found Rivermere and were struck immediately by the beautiful surroundings. We hoped that as well as the excellent facilities the staff would be just as good and they certainly have been. My father was made to feel so welcome and loves his room. He has
been joining in all the activities which is fantastic as he had been on his own before moving in. As a family, we feel confident and happy that Dad is being well looked after in such a lovely place.

After having Mum living with us for fifteen years it was very difficult for me being an only child, to make sure I found her the right care home. With Rivermere I couldn’t have wished for anything better. I had spent a long and stressful weekend searching for the right one, and not been able to go inside
was very hard. When reviewing Rivermere I was met with people who cared and certainly understood how difficult it was for relatives having to make the decision for their parent during the lockdown. I would like to say thank you to the whole team at Rivermere for the care you continue to give Mum.

Amazing home, the carers are brilliant and really have all of the residents best interests at heart. Food quality is very high and activities are very stimulating for the residents. I wouldn't have used any other home! Very high quality all around and felt like a home from home!

I have been a member of the management team at Avery Healthcare since June 2024 and possess fifteen years of extensive experience in the healthcare sector, encompassing both hands-on and leadership roles. My qualifications include degrees in Health and Social Care Management, along with numerous academic awards in leadership. My primary focus is on maintaining fundamental standards and driving continuous quality improvement, supported by a proven track record in strategic implementation.

I have over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare sector, having started as a care assistant, becoming a nurse and working my way to management. This has led me to gain a vast amount of experience through my career, which helps support our residents’ needs, ensuring a person-centred approach is provided to all.

Hi, I'm Amy and I am the Residential Care Manager at Rivermere Care Home.
I have been in the Health and Social Care sector since 2010 and have worked in many roles, including Health Care Assistant, Care Co-ordinator, Night Senior Carer and finally Residential Care Manager.
I manage the day-to-day running of the care team on the residential floors and pride myself on a hands-on approach to help create a good work ethic amongst the team and build good relationships between the care staff and our residents.
I would describe myself as hardworking, enthusiastic and passionate about ensuring we are providing the best care possible. Every resident is treated like an extended member of our family here at Rivermere.
Outside of work, I am an outdoorsy horse girl, and I spend most of my free time with my partner and my horses in the countryside.

Hi, my name is Elaine and I am the Well-being & Activities Co-ordinator at Rivermere, I have worked here since January 2025 having previously worked at Edenbridge Manor as a Well-being & Activities assistant. I love my job and enjoy seeing our residents enjoying themselves in whichever activity they decide to join, I make it my mission every day to make people smile.


Outside of work I have 2 grown up children and a gorgeous granddaughter who I love spending time with and spoiling, I also love music, light gardening, seeing my friends and crafting.


I look forward to meeting and getting to know new residents and welcoming them to Rivermere.
