Rivermere Care Home was taken over by Avery Healthcare at the start of 2017, and the new management has quickly set about transforming the fortunes of the home. Rivermere provides residential, respite and dementia care.

The home also welcomes couples and friends who wish to live together.

Situated close to the town of Sevenoaks, the home has been brought into line with the group's overarching care philosophy.

Nestled within a picturesque landscape, the home provides person-centred care for older people and those with dementia and its associated conditions.

Residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the home's facilities which are available to them daily. These include cosy lounges and bistro areas which create the perfect social environment, a beauty salon where residents can treat themselves to a haircut or nail treatment, a well-stocked library to indulge into a book or alternatively a cinema room to a catch a film in. The well-being team host regular activities in the activities lounge where all residents are encouraged to take part.

I had a very comfortable room on 1st floor, near activities. It was well cared for. I found the staff all very pleasant and helpful. I participated in most of the activities and the various quizzes. The entertainment staff got the residents to get to know each other.
On the whole, the meals were enjoyable
and varied with choices. The evening entertainment was lively and got everyone singing. The gardens are beautiful, I enjoyed walking around them and sat in the sun. The outing in the minibus touring Kent countryside excellent.
I would come again for respite, not ready for full-time care yet!

We love that it feels like a hotel rather than a care home. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They show a genuine interest in the residents and make life there fun. It is so reassuring to know that mum is enjoying life so much and is being looked after so well. Thank you very much.

I have visited a friend on a number of occasions and each time it has been a joy to visit. The interior of the home is beautiful and most welcoming and the staff very efficient and friendly and when I have had lunch with my friend, the food has been of a high standard of quality. To sum it up in a nutshell,
I would say who wouldn't want to spend their twilight years here - I know I would in a heartbeat! Congratulations Rivermere on getting the recipe absolutely right.

The staff from the management down to the cleaners are all excellent. Facilities, rooms and activities are overall very good. I would recommend Avery to anyone. When my sister first went into Avery she was very depressed and lonely. Now she is very happy and has lots of friends.

Very relieved that Dad is in a place where we know he is well cared for, safe, well fed and looked after. We cannot fault the super staff and although this is not what we wanted to happen, we are very glad we chose Rivermere. Thank you.

This has been my second visit to Rivermere for respite care after a second total knee replacement.
One week of rest but also trying to use the new knees walking around the home and garden gently is perfect to help to get back to normal.
Care with showering etc and general well being.
Social and organised
activities not forgetting the excellent meals. The high spot of the day for all.

Early days, as my mother only moved into Rivermere at the start of July, but we have been extremely impressed.
Everything from very friendly and attentive staff, to the top quality of the property itself, certainly ticks all the boxes. The food (both broad menu selection and quality) is outstanding.
The
rooms are excellent and very well fitted and equipped.
Lovely gardens. This is more like a 4 to 5 star hotel (with care built in) than a care home!

The service of care that my grandad had received was outstanding. All the staff and management were very helpful with meeting the needs of my grandad they were all very understanding and did that extra to help family deal with day to day problems we had with grandad.

Nana has now been here for several years. You can tell she is really happy here and feels at home. The staff are friendly and take great care of her. I'm sat here in the sun with Nana looking fabulous, dressed in her finery, it is lovely to see. Thanks for taking such great care of her.

It's so lovely to visit mum here, always greeted by big smiles. The staff are wonderful and look after mum with such care and attention. There is always something going on, musical entertainment, flower arranging and painting. I have no need to worry about her. I know she is loved and well looked after.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

Hello, my name is Sue, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Rivermere Care Home.


I Joined Rivermere in 2019 and have over 40 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Working in both residential and nursing settings, my previous roles have been as Registered Nurse, Senior Lecturer, and Regulator. I am always looking into ways to develop my skills in the sector and have successfully done this by proudly accomplishing BSC (Hons) Nursing Studies, which helps me succeed today.


Within this time, I have been lucky enough to create strong companionships with many residents and colleagues who all have amazing stories and backgrounds. Seeing my residents happy and enjoying life each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level.


I would best describe myself as someone who is very experienced within the healthcare sector, hardworking and compassionate about delivering exceptional care to all my residents. In my spare time, I enjoy spending it with my children and grandchildren. I also own two beautiful dogs, which I love to walk.


Avery Healthcare, owners of Rivermere, best stands out for providing a high standard of care and facilities for their residents. The company also care for and support their employees, resulting in loyal and hardworking teams. And our home is no exception. There are so many aspects to love about Rivermere, but for me, it has to be our beautifully landscaped gardens where residents can enjoy all year round, whether that be planting crops for our talented culinary team to use or just simply soaking up the sun on a summer’s day.
