Rivermere Care Home was taken over by Avery Healthcare at the start of 2017, and the new management has quickly set about transforming the fortunes of the home. Rivermere provides residential, respite and dementia care.

The home also welcomes couples and friends who wish to live together.

Situated close to the town of Sevenoaks, the home has been brought into line with the group's overarching care philosophy.

Nestled within a picturesque landscape, the home provides person-centred care for older people and those with dementia and its associated conditions.

Residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the home's facilities which are available to them daily. These include cosy lounges and bistro areas which create the perfect social environment, a beauty salon where residents can treat themselves to a haircut or nail treatment, a well-stocked library to indulge into a book or alternatively a cinema room to a catch a film in. The well-being team host regular activities in the activities lounge where all residents are encouraged to take part.

Mum became a resident at Rivermere earlier this year; after numerous virtual tours of homes locally, most I might add with excellent reviews, I enquired at Rivermere. At an extremely stressful time for both my family and my mum, I found this to be the only home providing her (and us) with reassurance
and understanding alongside the appropriate care she requires. Having only met the team virtually, I felt a sense of professionalism and gentility which was enormously reassuring. It helped to be in touch with the same people each time and every effort was made for the smooth transition to her new home, indeed these same people met us at the entrance to escort mum into her new safe and caring environment. This same team have provided us with continuity and news regularly whilst she struggles with her illness during this difficult period of lockdown. All the while we have been reassured and supported, feel involved and engaged with her and her care. Highly recommend.

Although due to the lockdown, I have not been able to see my dad or his room yet, the care team have been more than helpful sending me pictures and taking in his belongings when I deliver it. Every staff member I have spoken to is really friendly and more than helpful, they give you the feeling they
really like their job and are there because they want to be not because they have to be. It makes a massive difference to know Dad is being cared for and an amazing home with lovely staff. Thank you to everyone at Rivermere for what you do, especially during these unprecedented times, you are all doing an amazing job.

My father has now been at Rivermere for just over 12 months, having moved from another local care home. Although his dementia has deteriorated in this time he is happy and enjoying life. I can't praise the staff enough for what they do for Dad. They clearly enjoy their work as each and every member
of the team has built a caring and trusting relationship with him. The management has been proactive with regard to his ongoing needs and communication is excellent at all times. There are no words to describe how grateful I am to have him in such a wonderful and safe environment.

I had a very comfortable room on 1st floor, near activities. It was well cared for. I found the staff all very pleasant and helpful. I participated in most of the activities and the various quizzes. The entertainment staff got the residents to get to know each other.
On the whole, the meals were enjoyable
and varied with choices. The evening entertainment was lively and got everyone singing. The gardens are beautiful, I enjoyed walking around them and sat in the sun. The outing in the minibus touring Kent countryside excellent.
I would come again for respite, not ready for full-time care yet!

I have visited a friend on a number of occasions and each time it has been a joy to visit. The interior of the home is beautiful and most welcoming and the staff very efficient and friendly and when I have had lunch with my friend, the food has been of a high standard of quality. To sum it up in a nutshell,
I would say who wouldn't want to spend their twilight years here - I know I would in a heartbeat! Congratulations Rivermere on getting the recipe absolutely right.

The staff from the management down to the cleaners are all excellent. Facilities, rooms and activities are overall very good. I would recommend Avery to anyone. When my sister first went into Avery she was very depressed and lonely. Now she is very happy and has lots of friends.

This has been my second visit to Rivermere for respite care after a second total knee replacement.
One week of rest but also trying to use the new knees walking around the home and garden gently is perfect to help to get back to normal.
Care with showering etc and general well being.
Social and organised
activities not forgetting the excellent meals. The high spot of the day for all.

Early days, as my mother only moved into Rivermere at the start of July, but we have been extremely impressed.
Everything from very friendly and attentive staff, to the top quality of the property itself, certainly ticks all the boxes. The food (both broad menu selection and quality) is outstanding.
The
rooms are excellent and very well fitted and equipped.
Lovely gardens. This is more like a 4 to 5 star hotel (with care built in) than a care home!

I have been a member of the management team at Avery Healthcare since June 2024 and possess fifteen years of extensive experience in the healthcare sector, encompassing both hands-on and leadership roles. My qualifications include degrees in Health and Social Care Management, along with numerous academic awards in leadership. My primary focus is on maintaining fundamental standards and driving continuous quality improvement, supported by a proven track record in strategic implementation.


I am deeply committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive service culture that enhances the outcomes for residents. Hi, I'm Amy and I am the Residential Care Manager at Rivermere Care Home.
I have been in the Health and Social Care sector since 2010 and have worked in many roles, including Health Care Assistant, Care Co-ordinator, Night Senior Carer and finally Residential Care Manager.
I manage the day-to-day running of the care team on the residential floors and pride myself on a hands-on approach to help create a good work ethic amongst the team and build good relationships between the care staff and our residents.
I would describe myself as hardworking, enthusiastic and passionate about ensuring we are providing the best care possible. Every resident is treated like an extended member of our family here at Rivermere.
Outside of work, I am an outdoorsy horse girl, and I spend most of my free time with my partner and my horses in the countryside.
