My mother moved to Cepen Lodge a year ago because she was incapable of living on her own as her dementia had worsened. Cepen Lodge and it's staff is the best place she could hope to be. Not only is everyone very well looked after, there are truly fun events and the staff are lovely. Very grateful that she is here.

My relative is resident for 6 months having dementia and physical needs.Staff from all areas of the home have been amazing. Calm supportive and sensitive and respectful, always directing their communications to her by name. She is very settled here and I feel has built trust in those around her.She is fully dependent for everything and when I visit I can see how thoughtfully she has been cared for in every aspect including the set up of her room or inclusion of things that she might enjoy both through the care staff and activities coordinator. If there is anything that I mention or ask about it is immediately responded to . I am not local though do try to visit regularly but have been kept well informed of any changes.
The staff have been very supportive of me and always make time to talk.
There is an air of well coordinated communication between all staff in the home and it appears that they have very good staff retention which says so much.

I'm very pleased she is able to be here.

My mother has been a resident for 24 months and celebrated her 100th birthday very recently. The enthusiasm by the staff of the event and the organisation that took place to get involvement from the community, entertainment, as with additional catering for the afternoon party was amazing. The staff worked very hard, and the family are very grateful.

Dad has settled into Cepen Lodge really well since his admission in June. He has grown fond of the staff and enjoys taking part in the daily activities when he feels able. His room is well appointed and comfortable and he enjoys having the wall mounted t.v. All in all he is very happy and would happily recommend Cepen Lodge.

There does not appear to be enough staff around, especially in the evenings when residents get agitated at the end of the day.

A lot of shouting goes on and some anger. My husband got hit on the mouth a while ago (split his lip)

Mum is very happy living at Cepen Lodge and family are usually able to visit her on a regular basis.
However, it is very reassuring to know, as we have seen, that when we are away on holiday or unable to visit for other reasons, Mum's care and engagement with activities is well led and supported by the staff team.

This is so important to us as Mum can find communication difficult but stimulation from dining with other residents & other social situations and activities hugely beneficial to her. Thank you to all the Cepen Lodge Team.

My husband has recently been there for two weeks respite
I can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and care given to him , as he has dementia and many health problems
They encouraged him to join in with a couple of activities going on , which was great
Food and accommodations was great
All the staff were so kind to me too, informing me of everything to do with my husbands health and needs
Will definitely be happy to take him there again, when I need a rest

A big thank you to everyone at Cepen Lodge

Very welcoming environment, especially reception. Reception staff always welcoming & helpful. Activities staff lovely and enthusiastic. Room & communal areas always pristine. Staff on the floors bit more variable but generally very kind. It is sometimes difficult to find staff on the floor. Sometimes a few of them are sitting by residents just scrolling through their phone, which seems a bit unprofessional. Otherwise all great - thank you.

We had a lovely lunch today lemon chicken, mash and veg. Dad prefers everything separate (rather than like a stew). He loves the fruit at the start rather than soup. Maybe over summer they could have salads? Dad loves all the puddings.

Reply from Jade Hodge, General Manager at Barchester Cepen Lodge Care Home

Thankyou for your kind words and lovely review of the care we give for Dad. We hold quarterly menu planning meetings with our residents, and most definitely will include some cold options for the summer. We will make sure your comments about Dad's food are passed to the team to incorporate into his support plans.

All staff are amazing! Dad received care & kindness at all times. He is treated with respect. He is greeted by his name, the staff go the extra mile & genuinely care for the residents. Maintenance/cleanliness & catering are all top notch - it seems to be an amazing team of like-minded staff giving their best to the care of elderly & vulnerable. Following recent surgery, I spent 2 weeks respite care at Cepen Lodge. One of the best decisions I have made!

Arriving at the home I immediately felt part of a genuinely caring community. All the staff were wonderful, caring and professional. The accommodation was of a high standard, the food was excellent and the activities for residents enjoyable and varied. I was sad to leave, and should I need respite or longer-term care in the future, I would choose Cepen Lodge without hesitation. Thank you to all the staff and residents for making my stay so enjoyable and life-affirming.

Both my father-in-law and mother-in-law are residents at Barchester Cepen Lodge Care Home.
During the last eight months, they received excellent care from the care team. They both have medical issues and the staff have been very engaged in their care needs and ensuring that their local GP has all of the relevant details of their medical conditions.
The staff are very supportive of our loved ones in their care and also to our wider family wishes, comments and requests
Rooms are spotless, communal areas are beautiful and social events are numerous and well-attended both by residents and their families
We could not wish for a better environment for our family members to live in.
Great management team, care team, social team, chefs and housekeeping.

Keep up the great work Cepen Lodge.
