The care staff here are very kind and attentive to my father. They tend to work on the same little bit of the home and therefore know their residents very well. The nursing staff are very kind and responsive as well and have coordinated well with the medical team to make sure my father is on appropriate
medication. The management seems really engaged, and will often be on the wards. The facilities are good and well-maintained. Would be nice for a tiny bit simpler access to the lovely garden for residents.

At the start of the month, my wife needed to be transferred from a care home that was no longer able to accommodate her. The transfer has gone much more smoothly. Above all, she obviously feels much more at home at Woodlands than she had done at the previous home. In large part, this seems to be because
she finds the food much better.

When my dad first went to this care home he had just come out of hospital. He wasn't eating properly he had lost weight. And was very unsettled. As the weeks went on he is eating much better. Gained weight and has settled in very well. That's because the food is great and home-cooked. The staff are
outstanding and very helpful towards him and family members. Feels very homely there and I'm always happy for Dad to be left there. When I go home.

Both of my parents have been at Woodlands Care Centre for around 18 months and both have specific care needs. They are both settled and happy at Woodlands and the carers at the home are really kind and attentive. The managers of my parents' wing are really well organised and I get the impression that
this is the case throughout the care home. They make the time to talk to us about our parents if we have questions or need anything specific arranged for them. For example, they made a special effort to leave the dining room free for my Mum's 90th birthday so we could have a little family celebration which was really kind. My parents are getting really good care and we know they are safe and comfortable in the home. The care staff really notice when my parents are a bit down (having lost their independence) or need a bit of extra attention.

Woodlands Care Centre on the outside, appears to be just another care home, however, I can assure you it is so much more. It provided a home for my father and a safe place for us as a family to visit. We were always listened to, and would only ever need to ask once for something to be done. Dove unit,
where my father was nursed for the last few months of his life, is without a doubt, outstanding. The staff provide excellent care to the residents and much-needed support to families and friends visiting. My father sadly died in September, but he was nursed and cared for with kindness and dignity to the very end. We cannot thank all the staff here enough, particularly the unit manager who is a very special individual and whom we will never forget.

Woodlands Care Centre is a most amazing place. The standard of care is second to none with daily activities for the residents including live entertainment. The staff are always smiling, very caring, know the residents and are very approachable and helpful. Very occasionally if there has been an issue
it has been dealt with immediately. I highly recommend this care home, the staff and the management team.

I recently visited my Mum in Woodlands, I found all the staff very caring towards her and really accommodating to help me with any problems I needed answers for. The food was lovely, very balanced meals and good-sized portions which Mum thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were all very attentive to Mum, making
sure she was well-hydrated and had snacks between meals. Her room is kept neat and tidy, but there is a slight smell of urine. I'm sure this happens when residents are in adult diapers. I was very impressed with the activity staff. Mum loved the music. I could see all the residents were very uplifted and engaged. I was very impressed with the amount of activities for the residents. Also, I'm in touch with Mum via video call which is lovely for me as I live in Canada. I would also like to say a special thank you to all the carers who make Mum's life a lot better.

My mother has been living at Woodlands for over three months and I have been extremely impressed with the friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism of the staff. My mother, who has dementia, had been having a difficult time at home with live-in carers at home but settled down as soon as she arrived
at Woodlands. The management inspires great confidence and I am able to sleep better knowing that my mother is in a safe environment where she is provided with all of the care she needs.

We very much appreciate the quality of care provided by all the staff at Woodlands. The home is clean and relaxing with lots of activities for the residents. Much thought and effort has been put into making the whole atmosphere so peaceful. The staff along with the Manager are very dedicated and gentle
in nature. They take time to discuss things with us and always respond with a cheerful smile. I would highly recommend Woodlands for your loved ones in need of care.

My husband has now been at Woodlands, on Wordsworth for over a year, and because I am able to, I have visited him almost every day at randomly different times of the day. I have always been warmly greeted by all the staff I have seen, receptionist, cleaners, carers, nurses, premises manager, finance
officer, members of the lifestyle team as well as the manager and deputy manager. All of the welcoming ethos is transmitted to the residents who are spoken to with the utmost respect, despite the fact some residents, because of their complex needs, can at times be quite truculent. There is always someone on hand if help is needed, and the routine of the day provides consistency of practice and expectation. Woodlands recently had an inspection with very positive outcomes. The outcome did not surprise me. Having to admit that a loved one can no longer be cared for in their own home is a difficult process but I am more than happy that at Woodlands we have found a safe and caring environment.
Reply from Rubina Manager, General Manager at Woodlands Care CentreThank you for your kind words and your support. I will pass this on to the staff in Wordsworth. Even though our residents have complex needs. it is very rewarding to support them in their ADL.

One of the most difficult things is to lose your parent and watch them deteriorate from the person they were. The stress and worry about their well-being, and if they are being properly cared for, can be crippling.
Since my mum moved to Woodlands Care Centre in November 2023, she has been very well
cared for. She has complex dementia and resides in the Colleridge Unit. They are meeting her needs above my expectations. Whenever I visit Mum is calm, clean and a lot more settled. The home in general is clean and well staffed. The staff are always very kind and helpful and always make time to speak with you. The fact that my mum is so much more relaxed speaks volumes to the care she is receiving. Dementia isn't an easy thing to deal with but Woodlands have made it easier by providing the attention and care that Mum needs and deserves. My personal thanks to five members of staff in particular and to all the staff at the home for doing the job they do. Thank you!

Dad moved to the care home in January and is on the dementia ward. The staff are very kind and attentive and Dad has settled in very well. I have visited at all times of day and always found a high resident to carer ratio. The room is bright and always clean. My dad isn’t well enough to take part in
activities so I can’t rate this. I’m still in shock about the fees of care homes in general so I have rated average for value for money - I just wish I thought that it was going to the carers who deserve every penny.
Reply from Sia Lebbie, Reviews Team at Woodlands Care CentreDear Karen, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're glad to hear that your dad has settled in well and that you find the staff kind and attentive. Ensuring a high resident-to-carer ratio and maintaining cleanliness are priorities for us, so we appreciate your positive feedback in these areas. We understand your concerns about the fees associated with care homes and we appreciate your honest feedback about the value for money. It's important to us that you feel your investment in your dad's care is going towards the excellent care and dedication provided by our staff. Your trust in us is greatly valued and we're committed to providing the best possible care for your dad and all residents.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.903)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.903) out of 10 for Woodlands Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.903 for Woodlands Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (459 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 506 Ratings = 4.903
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Care Centre is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 109 registered maximum number of service users is 21.8, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
