Woodlands Care Centre offers person-centred support and care for those with Nursing, Residential Dementia and Nursing Dementia needs.

All people are nice and supportive. I was happy with the care for my husband, even though my husband died in March 2020, the staff and manager are still very supportive and helping me when I needed. I would recommend this care home to anybody. My husband enjoyed many activities which I have a good memory
about.

It's good that we can now visit Mum, although still frustrating that we cannot go out for a walk. Having said that, the support of all staff is second to none. Unable to comment on food, activities and rooms due to the covid situation.

Thank you to all at Woodlands for coming to our aid in our time of need. After a steady decline over a period of a couple of years, my dear Mum was diagnosed with vascular dementia on admittance to hospital, following a series of falls, and then went rapidly downhill (physically and mentally) during
her stay in hospital.
Suspecting that the home we had found for her a few months earlier was no longer going to be suitable, my father and I booked a visit to Woodlands Care Centre. We were shown around by the excellent manager and knew at once that it was the right place. There was just one room left: we were shown around on Friday; Mum was assessed on Monday and moved in on Tuesday! As things turned out, Mum was only at Woodlands for about three months, as her decline was mercifully rapid and she died just after Christmas. During her relatively short stay at the centre, though, she was treated with kindness - as was my father, who visited pretty much daily - and everyone was so supportive to us throughout.

My mum spent 6 years of her life here. Some of the staff are truly amazing. Some really shouldn't be working in care including a few of the higher positions! We paid £1100 a week to have my mum here and I'm really unsure where the money went, as they struggle to get staff and the ones they do have are
paid minimum wage which is a joke as they should be paid more.
After she passed away, we were sent a generic printed letter and not one of them came to the funeral. Someone is making a killing out of this place. Like I said some, of the staff are amazing but her wedding ring went missing while she was here and some of the care she received was not great due to staffing issues.

My partner, who was also my cousin, was cared for superbly from Nov 2015 till she died in Feb 2019, and during that period I had no reason for serious complaint. All my requests were attended to with courtesy. Her written Care Plan, which I reviewed periodically, was comprehensive and kept up to date.
She was treated with dignity and care, with her changing needs being appropriately met as she slowly succumbed to the effects of Parkinson’s disease and strokes. Her medication was administered regularly with a properly organised system. Her room and the Home generally were kept clean and tidy, and the staff were always cheerful, helpful and willing.


Regular entertainment sessions were organised for those who were willing and capable. There were also facilities to interest residents, such as the cinema and the interactive “magic table”.


Altogether I was very satisfied with her treatment and care and could sleep easily trusting she was being well looked after.

Woodlands Care Centre provided excellent care for my mother through her final stages of dementia. I can't praise the staff enough for their care and compassion. The facilities and environment are very well maintained, friendly and comfortable.
I have no hesitation in recommending them to future residents.

My father in law came to Woodlands directly from hospital following a fall. He was hospitalised for 4 months waiting for a placement and was not in good physical health and diagnosed with dementia. I was grateful for Woodlands accepting him. During the next three and a half years he grew in strength
and called his room his little home. The staff helped him and his family to understand this new journey of sadness, but it became a happy, safe and friendly home for all. We all gathered comfort from the friendship we built with the staff, easing the burden of dementia. The numerous activities, outings and parties that were put on for the residents are first class and to see everyone smile is amazing. He was cared for in every way and all his needs were met, without any fuss, no matter what his demands were. I visited at all times of the day and never had cause to complain about his personal care even at his journey's end. I cannot thank Woodlands enough only by saying can you book me a room!

My dear dad was a resident at Woodlands for nearly four years from February 2015. Sadly he passed away on the 17th July but I do not have enough words to express how my dad was treated right up until his passing. The respect and the dignity that was shown was excellent. The care that my dad had both
on Wordsworth and on Byron never faulted no matter what time of day or evening I would visit. There was nothing that was ever too much trouble. It became my dad's home but also our 2nd home as we also were made to feel so welcome. I would like to thank the staff at Woodlands for everything they have done for my dad from the domestics to the managers (the list would be too long) because without them my dad's latter years may have been very different. I am now going back as a volunteer to give back to Woodlands what they gave to my dad and I say thank you all.

My husband was admitted for a weeks respite following discharge from hospital. He had spent a week in hospital after being attacked the previous Saturday evening. He had had a bleed on the brain which had given him a chronic headache and he was also hardly able to get out of bed. In hospital, he had
become very depressed and had refused to either eat or drink.
The nurses and care staff at the home were absolutely wonderful with him. Within a few days he was much happier, and they were encouraging him to eat, drink and wash independently. Although his headache persisted, the staff were so kind and caring towards him and his mood improved dramatically. I would never have been able to look after him for that initial week after his hospital discharge and I am so grateful to everyone at The Woodlands for their kindness and support both to my husband and to me on my daily visits.
I would have no hesitation in my husband coming in again and I really cannot thank them all enough.

Since our relative moved into care in October 2017, we have been encouraged by the care and support which she has received from staff, at all levels. For the majority of the time, our relative is settled and accepting of where she now lives and on occasions when she does become sad or distressed, she

2. On my first visit, the open and friendly reception set the right tone.
3. My wife was able to have a visit for lunch for some familiarisation before her week of care.

7. Room clean and to a decent simple standard.
8. There were some concerns over unpacking clothes etc., dressing, washing hair and missing spectacles. These were not serious in terms of the overall care and were addressed with staff by management.
9. My wife appeared to have a stress free week and visits by myself and a friend found her calm.
10. I was impressed by the management's philosophy, which was to see caring for my wife as a partnership between the home and me.

Since my husband has been a resident at the Woodlands his care has been excellent from all concerned. All the staff are friendly and courteous and care for my husband with his sometimes challenging behaviour (due to his dementia) calmly and with respect. He always looks clean and cared for and he has
a lovely bright room. The staff at the Woodlands have helped to make this difficult time in both our lives more bearable.

Unlike another home my wife was in at Peterborough, where she was not washed or cleaned for days, since she has been at Woodlands she is washed and changed daily. She is bedridden and has to be fed like a baby. The room is always clean when I visit and the staff are very polite and helpful and friendly.

Rubina Arunagiri

Job Title: General Manager

I joined the Woodlands Care Centre as a Unit Manager in 2009. As a registered nurse, I have progressed through the roles being the Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager and now General Manager since summer 2020.


I first trained as a nurse over 20 years ago and began my career in a post renal transplant unit hospital in Mumbai, India, before moving to England with my husband. I am the proud mother of two grown-up sons.


My ethos behind my care is to “strive to make a positive difference to resident’s everyday life experiences and their wellbeing, whilst still delivering excellent clinical care. Everyone is treated as an individual”.

I am also passionate about supporting and developing my team with their clinical skills, values and beliefs and, empowering my team to deliver great clinical care with empathy, compassion and enhance residents lives at Woodlands Care Centre.
