Residents are treated with dignity as individuals and valued as individuals. Both administrative and nursing staff and care workers respond positively to requests and comments. The rooms and corridors are kept very clean. A wide range of activities is provided for residents. Excellent in many respects.

The home is excellent in the way they interact with the clients. My dad was extremely grumpy but they have helped him so much and I am very grateful for that. Although he has dementia he is always invited to attend activities and outings. The staff are excellent and always have the time to speak to us too. I am so pleased my dad is here. The rooms are tidy and clean. No matter what time I visit everything is always the same. I would like to thank the staff for looking after my dad.

My grandad is currently a resident at Woodlands and I cannot give enough praise on our entire experience at the centre. Our only regret is that we hadn’t found the centre a few months earlier. Staff are amazing, the centre is always clean, homely and welcoming. Not a bad word to say. Everything promised was delivered.

My mother passed away at Woodlands on the 5th of March. My dad, my brother and I were all very sad to lose our wonderful wife and mother. But the sorrow is made easier by knowing that she had the best care possible during the last few years in Woodlands.
We witnessed an incredible level of compassion by the carers, the nurses, the social events staff and administration. They all showed superb levels of professionalism combined with empathy, kindness and humour. They knew that she was more than just a collection of symptoms of a terrible disease. They understood that she had a life, a history, a family before Woodlands. They kept her safe, comforted her, enabled her to maintain her dignity and let her express her frustrations and her sense of humour.
As her family, we were also made to feel so welcome. Her carers have become our friends, friends we trust with the most vulnerable person in our lives.

We are so grateful to everyone at Woodlands for everything they did for my mum.

My wife, who suffers from advanced Alzheimer's disease, has been a resident for nearly three years and has been well looked after from every standpoint.

There is nothing she can do for herself after more than thirteen years of this disease and the care home is called upon to provide full support in every area of care, and this they do very well indeed.

This care provider was recommended by friends.
I have found this period of three weeks has been most beneficial for convalescence following a long period in hospital.
The staff are very caring and nothing is too much.
Management very good and helpful.

I would recommend this care facility to friends.

My wife has been in Woodlands for seven months and has received excellent care from dedicated staff who sometimes go out of their way to ensure her comfort. I visit my wife most days so I can give an informed review. I would not want her to be anywhere else.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident at the care centre at the date of review. My experience of the managers of Woodlands Care Centre and the care staff has been very positive. Prior to her admission I was able to have a very open discussion with the manager and her deputy about my concerns and their management of my mothers needs. During her stay the care staff maintained a good level of care in a compassionate way. Any issues that arose i.e. falls and loss of dentures were resolved effectively. The home has an excellent activities programme and every effort was made to enable my mother joining in according to how she felt on the given day. Above all I valued the managements' "open door" policy, so that access for informal chats was always possible. Woodlands being dual registered is also a great help.

Jessa AvilaJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2026

I’m Jessa, the General Manager at Woodlands Care Centre. I am a Registered General Nurse with more than 15 years’ experience in health and social care.

Caring for people has always been my passion, and I am proud to lead a team that shares my commitment to providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care.

My priority is to ensure every resident feels respected, valued and truly at home, with care shaped around their individual needs, choices, interests and life experiences.

I believe that supporting and developing colleagues is an important part of my role. By creating a positive working environment where team members feel valued and able to thrive, we can continue delivering the high standards of care the residents and their families deserve.

What I enjoy most about my role is having the opportunity to make a positive difference each day. Seeing the residents smile and knowing they feel safe, comfortable and happy is incredibly rewarding.

For me, what makes Woodlands Care Centre special is its warm and friendly atmosphere. We work together like one big family, treating every resident with kindness, dignity and respect.

It is a privilege to share so many meaningful moments with residents and to work alongside a dedicated team with such a genuine passion for care.

Outside of work, I enjoy singing, taking long walks, travelling and spending quality time with my family and friends.
