Woodlands provide an excellent care setting for my dad, who is very happy there. He has been there for nearly two years now and certainly made the right choice. We have found standards of communication and cleanliness very high.

My lovely father-in-law has now been at Woodlands for over three years. We are so grateful for the love and incredible care he receives. The attention to detail to the individuals’ needs is amazing, and we feel he could not be in safer hands. He is always clean and groomed, and they pay attention to his clothes. He is always in a good mood and is very happy there. The communication with the staff is very good, and they are all very approachable.

I can not thank all the staff enough for what they do. My mum's neighbour is a resident at the home; he has a long-term illness, in which he will not get better. The staff go above and beyond to care for him. They have a laugh and a joke with him and make him feel happier throughout the day. On our visits, the staff always greet us and let us know how he is doing. He does become tearful at times, but all the staff rally around to cheer him up. We couldn't name individual staff as they are all friendly and helpful; you all do an amazing job. We thank you for the care you are giving our neighbour. We visit fortnightly to see our neighbour and have got to meet most of the staff at the home.

Woodlands is bright and clean. Rooms are lovely. Staff are friendly and caring.
They did all they could for Dad, even though Dad's needs were more than most, they did what they could.

Lots of activities are put on for the residents. The gardens are lovely for some much needed vitamin D.

My mum has been resident only a short while but the care she has shown is warm and shows great empathy for both my mum and myself as a daughter facing the impending loss of Mum.
The nursing staff have taken the time to listen and to adopt a person centred approach to care planning.

The carers have unfailingly shown mum warmth and respect.

The staff are caring and work very hard. My dad seems to be well looked after, especially with him often being challenging, given his condition. We are always made to feel welcome, which helps make a difficult situation somewhat bearable.

The unit has been our father's home for the last five months. It feels like home from home. The staff go above and beyond with the residents and family. If any requests are given from the family about the resident, the staff act straight away. We could not ask for a better place for our father to be in. Any other staff that we meet who are not in the unit are very kind and compassionate. We highly recommend this care home!

My dad was with Woodlands on Coleridge floor for a short period before he passed away but I couldn’t have asked for better care. Every member of staff from the domestics to the home manager were lovely, they looked after him and the family at all times. I was so happy he was there. The nurse was so caring, thankyou to everyone.

Review from Robert W (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 19 January 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother-in-law has been with Woodlands Care home for 3.5 years, with increasingly severe levels of dementia. She stayed in three different units during her period, according to her needs.
During this time we received nothing but excellent levels of love and care from Woodlands. All the staff knew her, not just the ones on whichever unit she currently was with. The teams there took great care to try to stimulate people with activities according to their needs/abilities throughout the progression of Alzheimer's / Dementia/ageing (as appropriate), and were always respectful, even when she had lost the ability to recognise people or respond verbally.
The place looked bright and inviting whenever we visited.
Over the COVID lockdown period and after, the team kept us in touch with her as much as possible (eg via video calls), and were exemplary in their cautious policy and practices over possible COVID infections.

We would strongly recommend this care home, (if you can afford it).

For nearly five years my mum was in the loving care of Woodlands and their excellent staff. As her condition changed they responded with kindness and consideration, always taking the time to keep us informed and welcoming us when we visited. During COVID they made sure we got as much contact as possible with Skype calls and regular updates. Can't recommend them more highly.

My mum has been at Woodlands for four years. Mum was always very happy and very well looked after. Mum loved all the activities and took part. The carers were lovely and worked very hard. All the staff, and Woodlands, were our second family. Mum had dementia and became very poorly, she was on her end of life plan. Everybody has been lovely towards Mum.

My sister went into Woodlands in September 2015 as her dementia was progressing. I have nothing but very high praise for all the staff present and past who cared for her in a loving and passionate way. She passed away in December 2021. Music featured very prominently all through her life. Her favourite tracks were played in her room on a loop system non-stop right up till the end. I was kept informed of any change in medication or her health and always welcomed her warmly on visits. During Covid restrictions, the activity team set up regular FaceTime sessions with her once a week. Living in Hampshire this was my only contact with her. I shall always be grateful that she spent her final years in such a loving, warm and compassionate home. Thank you is not enough to all the staff especially those who had daily contact with her.

The staff were very friendly and reassuring and were very good with my partner and other residents. The food at dinnertime was excellent but the food at teatime was a mishmash of everything. During Covid, I would like to think he was looked after excellently, but couldn't tell.

For over three years, my late husband was a resident at Woodlands Care Centre and in all that time I, nor my family, have had any cause to feel he was not being looked after properly, in all respects. The affection the staff had for him and their kindness to me was so obvious when he was seriously ill and after he passed away. My family and I cannot thank all the staff and praise them enough for all they did for my husband and us. Thank you all so very much.

I’m Jessa, the General Manager at Woodlands Care Centre. I am a Registered General Nurse with more than 15 years’ experience in health and social care.

Caring for people has always been my passion, and I am proud to lead a team that shares my commitment to providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care.

My priority is to ensure every resident feels respected, valued and truly at home, with care shaped around their individual needs, choices, interests and life experiences.

I believe that supporting and developing colleagues is an important part of my role. By creating a positive working environment where team members feel valued and able to thrive, we can continue delivering the high standards of care the residents and their families deserve.

What I enjoy most about my role is having the opportunity to make a positive difference each day. Seeing the residents smile and knowing they feel safe, comfortable and happy is incredibly rewarding.

For me, what makes Woodlands Care Centre special is its warm and friendly atmosphere. We work together like one big family, treating every resident with kindness, dignity and respect.

It is a privilege to share so many meaningful moments with residents and to work alongside a dedicated team with such a genuine passion for care.

Outside of work, I enjoy singing, taking long walks, travelling and spending quality time with my family and friends.
